the average score for timespy and a 4090 is roughly 30k

the average score for timespy and a 4090 mobile is roughly 20.5k

50 percent disparity but then again its like 4x the size and non portable, the thing thats concerning is the naming and prices. as you have stated we are getting 4070 levels of performance, would it hurt to call it a 4070. If you don't like portability desktop is still the way to go but if you ever need to travel the answer is obvious. I wonder why with the passage of time and tech advancement cell phones have gotten increasingly advanced and tiny yet desktops have remained the same beasts of yesteryear.

Is that still your Omen? If yes then that is some serious decline in numbers - was it getting too hot before?

yeah its my omen, need to repaste. Didn't think I'd have to for its lifetime but hey no laptops perfect, it did well for 3 years. I might repaste and add a 4tb ssd and leave it till it dies. I was getting 9600 in timespy so 8700 is quite the drop. I noticed temps hitting 83c quickly with stock clocks on gpu and cpu and thats with the iets gt500 cooler which drops temps by 15c. so 84 is technically 99c. I wouldn't dare run this laptop without a cooler.

managed to get the fans spinning again. temps are ok 60s

Getting 60fps at 4k in crysis 3 with high settings. one of my favorite games and if I need 120fps I can always boot it up on ge force now. going to test out the zenbook and 4080 to see what it gets at 4k completely maxed no aids in cyberpunk 2077 im guessing 10-20fps.

Also This omen is likely my last gaming laptop unless geforce now goes bye, I see no point in a heavy hot poor battery life laptop. if i can get 4080 level performance on a thin light ultrabook and the only requirement is a good internet im sold, it is what it is. if I didn't like geforce now so much I would have jumped on a 4080-4090 laptop

So the fans weren't working properly? You may still want to do a "repad" of the CPU and GPU with PTM7950 and also check the thermal pads.

I would have very little use for a screen that is only 14" but if there was a laptop with top of the line CPU and a lower end internal GPU that can also connect to an external GPU I would be very interested.

Yeah I find 16in the sweet spot. I have been gaming on my 14in zenbook and don't mind its ok really sharp mind you(2880x1800). My temps are back up I don't think my fans are ramping up properly and have no idea what to do after a cmos reset, might update bios and fiddle some more but if fans are down ptm will do very little..

new bios

155/300 on gpu cpu locked at 3.9 ghz

max temps during run  was 77 gpu and 88 cpu. terrible compared to what it was

not sure where to buy the phase change pads in canada but if I knew id order right now

It seems that i can't overclock higher than 4GHz, whatever the value i put in the bios above 4GHz is not considered and the cpu runs at 4GHz max. Any ideas?

you might need to goto the clevo sub forums and ask there as you might need a custom bios.

Nice - going up again! If you already have the PTM7950 don't sweat it. I have both times gotten mine from non-official sources and THINK it was legit but cannot be sure - the results at least seem solid and repeatable and yours look good, too!

yeah its slowly going up. yesterday after applying the PTM7950 my temps were incredible, overclocked they were peaking in the upper 60s and now they are hitting 94c on cpu and 70c on gpu mind you thats at 4.6ghz and 160/300.

also worth noting many other people with the 3060 and 12700h or 11800h are hitting higher scores but their ram speed is faster and my omens ram speed is locked down unless someone knows how to get into the advanced bios.

Screenshot-1.png

so 9749 overclocked with decent temps 80c--

stock no overclocking on cpu or gpu nothing changed. very very good results and beats most overclocked 3060s in the omen 16 thanks to the 140w vbios. this is my old overclocked result.(115w)

Nice! I just got a 2080 for my P750DM2 instead of the 1080 GTX, got 9,656 graphics score right off the bat, I hope to tweak it over 10k if possible. We will see!

Is this what you are using right now? With the good results? I am currently using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and it works fine but lower temps are always better!

From what I understand you need to let it go through a few cycles for it to really "set" in? I am curious how your experience will be.

honestly its not the overclocking performance im happy about. its the fact my stock performance is up and I can now game without worrying about temps. i still monitor with msi afterburner, habits never die. going to be undervolting as I don''t mind lowering settings to improve performance and keeping temps cool. one things for certain im using this stuff on every one of my laptops. my zenbook could really benefit.

how many cycles exactly? are we talking 10-20 or like 100-500. I'm not sure if my temps are better after about 10 cycles or not but when I lock framerate to 40 and run at 3.4ghz cpu and 1650gpu undervolted im topping out at 50-53c stabilizes around 50c and 51c kinda bounces back and forth for a while. this 51c temp on cpu and gpu is after 45min gaming session so its legit. I don't recall ever being able to game on any computer for more than a few seconds and remain in the low 50s so its a first for me. but then again I have this honken ass large iets gt500 that sounds like a jet engine firing up and ptm7950 albiet a poor job i did pasting(hands got shakey).

ill post the relative performance in a second

this is my cool settings. 16x af and high quality settings in nvdia control panel with a drastic undervolt and low cpu clocks, ironically a stock omen 16s 11800h stabilizes around 3.4ghz with temps in the mid 80s and odd 90c spikes according to notebookcheck. it scores 8400 stock.

my tweaked to hell and back omen can do that in it's sleep

Screenshot-4.png

well I succeeded. I opened my bedroom windows(1c outside) cooled room to 17c and ran benchmark underclocked and undervolted and saw max temps on cpu and gpu of 48c. crazy cool so yeah you could say going from 74c to 48c is a pretty big deal, this stuff rocks

heres the evidence just in case you think im exagerating

Screenshot-8.png

Screenshot-10.png

looks like im stuck until i find a way to unlock my 3200mhz ram or overclock it

Screenshot-1.png

on a happy note thanks to this amazing stuff i came in second in night raid which is a testament of my overall system snappiness and raw power, surely a sight to behold as it takes on the horns of azeroth and stampedes down the dark harrowing passage, only time will tell.lmao...this is getting ridiculus

Nice! Ya I might have to try some and reorganize my thermal pads a little. Ambient temps help a LOT though, so getting the room to 17C makes a huge difference too!

Also:

Broke 10k GPU and 8K CPU!

Maybe I will go back to the 1080 and try to break 8k gpu so that I can have 8k GPU and 8k GPU score saved for the fun of it 😁
