We did it. TM1 heatsink has been grafted to KM1

I have a DM2 and currently working on to fit the TM1 CPU cooler.

The frame must be cut to fit the extra radiator above the VRM.

And the hardest part is the mounting screws are 4mm lower on the TM1 than the Dm2 CPU cooler.

Ahh so how did you address the height difference ?

I have not yet. I thought about there are three solution.

1. Cut off the bracket screw to the correct height and hope there is enough thread.

I do not want to do that.

2. Put something under the bracket to lower the screw height on the other side.

There is maybe not enough room beetwen the bracket and frame at the keyboard. Also you need longer bracket holder screws.

3. Make a new bracket holder out of isolation plate.

I will try this but still waiting for parts to arrive.

Cool looking forward to your findings 🙂

I just chose option 1. Used a Dremel to cut the bracket then sanded it down to required height. Threads are still there.

Did end up stripping the heatsink screws a year later so popped them out and am now using regular old laptop screws (I think M2.5x5).

The adapters I developed have been working without any problems for years for the P870xx series! Everything is already fully developed!!!!!

I did the cut too and decided not to make a new bracket. I always wanted to keep original parts but not in this case. It would have been a lot of work and this one only take an afternoon.

So you have to cut 4mm from the original bracket you should have enough tread to use it properly.

I used a drill with a milling bit.

And cut the frame to fitt the extra radiator.

It is a worthy mod I think this cooling is superior than the old one.

The next step will be the second fan mod.

I sometimes regret not waiting for the P870TM now haha.

Yes, indeed have to work a bit but the TM is no better then DM2 or DM3 apart from this cooler.

As I followed @Developer79 work and tests on P870 there is no difference in P870s apart from DM.

I originally wanted to buy a TM bracket from Eurocom but they didn't have any at the time.

I just bought from Ali it was €50 something and it is worth it.

It is the best Clevo laptop in my opinion and unfortunately it will remain the best as it looks like..

Hi, I'm also doing the mod with a second fan for the P870DMG! I also did a complete microcode update and added support for GTX10xx...RTX30xx in the BIOS. I also developed brackets so that the newer graphics cards will work in this model.

I have also developed a circuit that makes it possible to use a second fan in the TM as well as in the other models!

The P870Tm is the most sophisticated board! It's a matter of taste. I like it best. I also had the P870DMG years ago. Now I offer solutions for all these models that are often easily transferable to all models.
My MXM desktop project works without any problems with the P870DM2/3/KM/TM models. The DMG is the exception because the MXM ports were arranged differently there.

Yeah kind of hard without a drill / cutting press or machine tool lol .
