Sounds like you can recover by removing the coin cell battery (resetting BIOS settings / NVRAM)?  Too bad they put that in a ridiculously difficult to reach spot.  It used to be accessible just by opening the laptop bottom cover...

Anyway, the "bricking" described in the post is a bit different than what I experienced.  I had the system blinking the keyboard backlight on and off every 15-20 seconds.  It wouldn't stop until I disconnected the main battery.  (Holding the power button down had no effect.)

No problems here. I have updated few 7560 and 7760 models to latest BIOS 1.10.2

Now there is new common firmware for Dell docks WD19 and WD22 series.

Version is 01.00.24, A07 and release date 30 Mar 2022.

Thunderbolt 4 dock WD22TB4 is just for Latitudes? Max output is 180W.  WD19DC is 210W.

Good find.

Looks like the WB22TB4 is the new replacement for the WD19TBS which also has the 180W adapter and you need to plug in the power brick with the 7760 (looks like both deliver 130W power reading on the web pages).  I wonder if they will have a new replacement to the WD19DCS.

Wow. With version 1.10.1 bios S3 standby is now supported. Selective Standby for bluetooth devices also seems to be tuned as well, so you can have a bluetooth mouse like a MX Master 3, and moving the cursor after 15 seconds of idle does not take as much time to wake up.

Nice! I'll have to try over the weekend. I got frustrated by the delay and ended up reverted to the native Logitech usb receiver.

Anyone that did update to 1.10.1 can you note what bios version you were on.  I am still on 1.7.0 and plan on holding out a little longer.

The last bios is working for me with no issue so far. However, I do not have any SSD in the PCIe4 NVMe slot.

While I know others have encountered problems, I've been staying current with all driver and BIOS releases (including the ones which were withdrawn) and so far, haven't had any issues...or at least none which I've been impacted by. I'm also happily running Windows 11 and dread those days when I'm forced to use my client's hardware running Windows 10.

I have "modern standby" disabled and I don't see an option for "Sleep" with BIOS 1.10.1 either.  I didn't worry about it too much yesterday (after installing the update) — my organization blocks Sleep through Group Policy and I have to jump through hoops to enable it — but I checked the powercfg output just now and it looks the same as @Ionising_Radiation.

I updated my 7760 from 1.7.0 to 1.10.1.  I also updated the firmware on the WD19DCS.

Before the update to 1.10.1, I had an issue where there is no HDMI Audio to the external monitors connected to the dock with Hybrid Graphics enabled.  At some point prior to updating to 1.7.0 (maybe 1.5.0 or 1.6.1) HDMI Audio to monitors connected to the dock worked.  At some point I turned off Hybrid Grahics and then at some point updated to 1.7.0 and HDMI Audio Worked.

I thought the issue was with the bios and hoped the 1.10.1 fixed it.  But I still have no HDMI audio output with Hybrid Graphics enabled.

In Device Manager, it shows NVIDIA HDMI Audio but no device connected.  I have two external monitors.  One connected HDMI and on Display port.

The display switching appears to work fine.  I tired reinstalling the Nvidia Drivers and no luck.  The one thing I did not try after re-enabling Hybrid Graphics was to uninstall both the intel and Nvidia Drivers, then install intel, and then install NVidia.

EDIT:

When Updating the bios note that I had nothing connected to system other than power cord (not dock or usb devices).  I exited Malwarebytes.  I also do not have Bit locker turned on so I did not have to suspend that.  Probably did not have to exit Malwarebytes.  Previously I would manual suspend Bit locker (when enabled) but the updater would do that if not manually done.  Just how I did it.

Do you have the "enable direct discrete display output" option enabled in the BIOS?  Try flip/flopping it and see if that changes the behavior.  (The NVIDIA HDMI audio output driver would not come into play if this option is not enabled, as dock displays would be driven by the Intel GPU.)

Here is my result with "modern standby" enabled, BIOS 1.10.1. @Aaron44126 why you have "modern standby" disabled?

powercfg /a
The following sleep states are available on this system:

    Hibernate

The following sleep states are not available on this system:
    Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

    Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

    Standby (S3)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

    Hybrid Sleep
        Standby (S3) is not available.

I need access to the Windows advanced power options that are hidden when it is enabled.  (PCIe link state power management, maximum processor state, etc.)

I saw someone mention that these are no longer hidden in Windows 11.  Haven't checked that out yet, myself.

Enabling  "enable direct discrete display output" now has the HDMI audio work.  Maybe when I had it working previously it was before I had the dock and was hooking up directly to the HDMI and mDP.  Only downside with this is I do not see the dell boot logo on the external screens when booting. External screens do not come on now until the windows login.  Before I would see the Dell Logo and spinning dots.  When connected to the dock, I have the laptop closed.  Should not be an issue unless I have a boot issue and will need to open the laptop to see what is going on.

The setting in Bios does note "Pre-OS content is only visible on the internal display." so this is expected.

@Aaron44126 more about hidden power settings in Windows 10 since 2004. Value 2 seems to be the secret.

Windows 11 works better. No PowerShell scripts required.

Here is the source:

@Rinconmike I use my laptop lid always open so I see the Dell logo even I use external display with HDMI cable.

Hard to use Windows Hello face without camera.  Windows key + P selection is second screen only => native display is black when laptop is in use. One big screen is enough for me at home. At work I have WD19DC with two screens connected with DisplayPort.  I have not used mDP cable at home.

Is there something I'm missing out?

It looks like it may have been a BIOS update bug. It is reported as supported on my 7560, but when I tried to use S3 sleep, it had a black screen on resume with the fans ramping up to maximum speed.

Is there a dell URL to full configurator build page so I can pick and choose components instead of pre-configured systems.  Or do I have to talk to a real person at dell?  Looking at 7760 and could only select from pre-configured systems and only customize support contracts.

* nevermind, I found what I was looking for.  I must've been clicking wrong customization button or something.

Yes, they often have a list of five or so preconfigured systems but only one of them is "fully customizable".  In any case, you can go through a rep to get the system customized to your liking (and probably a modest discount from the web price).

Thank you.  It's been awhile since I've researched new laptops and I like to configure new systems on DELL and HP websites just to see what features and tech they have and their prices.   Our 7710s are working like brand new and they are 6 yrs old, but not planning upgrade yet.  I'm only "researching".    Looking now at the thread on next gen with Alder Lake and it's pretty interesting.
