i test currently opera gx to see how it works for me i use a long time edge now but to many issues that pictures in some forums could not be load.

i use it since yesterday and i like the backround music 😁 still a lot of things to find and maybe to use.

i like the integration of discord in the side panel and twitch too.

the first thing was to deactivate that GX Corner stuff as well but if i saw it correct i can it only hide @Mr. Fox?

The GX Corner is an internet Start Page focused on PC gaming, and virtually none of the information that it contains matters to me personally. I prefer to load a blank search page by default. If you enable the slider "GX Corner in sidebar" in settings it will prevent that page from loading when you open the browser. (I also do not care for news or shopping or any other kind of tiled crap to appear on my browser start page. I allow only the weather info.)

I also disable all of the social media shortcuts in the sidebar. I do not use any of the social media options present except for Telegram, and I only use Telegram rarely... on demand, and only when someone asks to communicate with me by IM/text. I do not find it useful to have it readily available in the sidebar. I use it too seldom to want it there. I do not allow any kind of instant communication applications to run on my systems automatically because they use system resources and I do not want to be readily accessible to anyone via instant message.

I will have to try the background music option. I arbitrarily disabled it without any effort to test it because I did not want any audio distractions while web browsing. But, I will check it out since you like it. 🙂 Overall, I really am liking Opera GX. I really like the CPU and RAM limiter options and have them enabled permanently. I limit CPU to 15% max and RAM to 4GB max.

Vivaldi seems interesting, but I would prefer the ability to have Aero on the top bar like in every other browser.

Just curious, what is "Aero in the top bar"?  I've been using Vivaldi as my main browser for 5 years, which might be why I don't know what that means, but I've used other browsers in that time too, and still only know Aero as the Windows Vista+ theme.

Ok then i done everything correct i set it to the sidebar as well and then hide it so there is no more GX Corner.

image.png.a212b0186e9b277bb82483ff272d0ac9.png

But i will try to find a solution to deactivate it.

The Backround music is from some contest winner from 2020 and you can set the volume from 0-100 default is 20% i miss the option to add some custom music i like to listen :D.

The first point i absolutly dislike is the GX Light option which override the Software from Razer Chroma, Logitech G Lightsync or Corsair iCue.

image.thumb.png.eee70370c041325b233c441a7d055e5a.png

I was wondering why my light settings - i prefer red - were not working and when i check Chroma Studio i got this message which say that opera.exe app is controlling the device lights. Luckily there is no support for mystic light otherwise I would have complained about the MSI Center again 😂

That would be basically a glass/semi-transparent top bar (rather than solid) for Windows Vista/7 users.

Logitech G LIGHTSYNC RGB

I no longer use software for lighting controls because virtually all of the garbage is Windows Store filth and I refuse to allow that bloated trash on my systems. ASUS Armory Crate is beyond unacceptable and MSI Center is only marginally better. Armory Crate is a HUGE pig in terms of services and system resource wastefulness.

I instead use a separate hardware controller for RGB lighting on my desktops. That also eliminates having to reapply settings after resetting NVRAM. If I want to change colors or lighting themes I use the included wireless remote. Nothing is attached to my motherboard RGB/ARGB ports now. Life is much better that way. That also gives me the control I need for Windows 7 and Linux. (Up yours, Micro$lop, LOL.)

I spent my sparetime in the german msi endanwender forum and if i want to give some support i should know about the things i write a little bit 😆.

But to be honest the dragon center was not good the msi center is a bit better but i would prefer that mystic light is a stand alone aplication for use.

Edit:

Nice can't remeber when i last watch twitch with Edge and with no buffer times during the streams.

Opera GX make it possible..

I'm currently maining Waterfox for convenience reasons, but I'll probably jump over to Librewolf in the near future, or another one; I've grown attached to forks of Firefox; kind of tired of seeing Chromium forks and Blink as an engine literally everywhere.

I didn't know Librewolf existed, thanks for posting about it, I'll have to check it out. I've been thinking of switching to Firefox Developer Edition, but I think I'd prefer a more Waterfox style fork that follows current Firefox releases, and Librewolf seems to be it.

Microsoft is adding more bloat to Edge with a Games button

by Ashwin on Dec 28, 2021 in Microsoft Edge - 27

Microsoft is adding a new feature to Edge, but you're probably not going to like it. The Chromium-based browser now has a games button, because why not?

Microsoft's Buy Now, Pay Later integration in Edge is highly controversial

by Martin Brinkmann on Nov 30, 2021 in Microsoft Edge - 35

Microsoft announced a new addition to the company's Microsoft Edge web browser in mid-November. Available only in Insider Builds of Edge at the time, the feature was rolled out in Edge 96

Who want to be a part of this? And this is only the beginning. Microsoft have loads of great ideas how they can and will destroy own products. Is this a feature you want for your web browser bro @Mr. Fox ?

Microsoft Edge bloatware Skype

Microsoft Edge for Windows may get more bloatware in the next update

While some people may find features like “buy now, pay later” useful, the lack of an option or experimental flag to completely get rid of them can prove to be frustrating, especially when features have tight system integration.

haha good point 😄 i shouldve probably mentioned that i manually removed all chinese bloatware crap that was removable and blocked the non-removable stuff from executing (at least as much as possible without having root access). but yeah, as i mentioned in my phone post, its really difficult to find such hardware combo in a phone nowadays, so gotta make compromises, unfortunately...

I think those can be bootloader unlocked, which would allow you to replace the entire OS.

technically yes, but for that i would need to downgrade multiple firmware versions, unfortunately more recent versions are not unlockable anymore.... in any case, currently on the lookout for a new phone but its tricky.

sorry for the OT, guys! carry on 🙂

In brief: DuckDuckGo portrays itself as a defender of user privacy through its search engine and browser. However, a security researcher has found the company has an agreement with Microsoft that attaches asterisks to that promise.

Private DuckDuckGo browser still allows some Microsoft trackers

In brief: DuckDuckGo portrays itself as a defender of user privacy through its search engine and browser. However, a security researcher has found the company has an agreement with Microsoft that attaches asterisks to that promise.

Private DuckDuckGo browser still allows some Microsoft trackers

Yeah it was easy to see with the ownership if you know what I mean, and just the general scam of marketing that is so prevalent today, essentially legalized lying/fraud. All of this tech has back doors etc I don't believe there is any anonymity at all with tech of any kind.

Not much you can do if they add disgusting code in the kernel. Remember you is forced to do volt mod on nowadays graphics cards(everything is fully locked down). Maybe 0,1% bother with that.

Vivaldi seems interesting, but I would prefer the ability to have Aero on the top bar like in every other browser.

The absence of AeroGlass beauty has been a problem for a good while now. The problem was solved for a time using Aero Glass for Win8+ but Big Muscle (developer) seems to have vaporized and no longer supporting it. Newer versions of dwm.exe after LTSC 2019 are no longer compatible with Aero Glass for Win8+ mods. And, I'm sorry, but Windows 10 Acrylic is a totally lame excuse for a replacement. The flat color schemes, especially the abusive overuse of white and pastel colors, in Windows 8-10-11 makes me want to puke... truly disgusting.

Apologies for going off topic briefly, but i too thought this was the case until yesterday. Turns out with windowsblinds 10 from stardock, aero still works even on LTSC 2021 despite the website stating otherwise. I did try vivaldi with the titlebar enabled but yeah that seems to not work, but i tend to not run my browser with a titlebar typically. Firefox however does, which i assume would include waterfox too.

What theme are you using for Windowblinds? I have tried it off and on for years, including very recently, and I can never get it to look proper. It has never functioned to my satisfaction because there is always something in the UI that is messed up for me and I have always regretted purchasing it.

However, that actually looks pretty decent, I must say. Please share and I will give it a go again to see if I like it. I'd really like to love Windowsblinds if I can, because I feel the exact opposite of love for any version of Windows after 1809. I am the kind of person that would identify one theme that I like and use it for more than a decade with no desire to even try another one because I place more value on consistency and predictability than anything else.

I do not like the Stardock Start menu. I think it is too functionally limited and doesn't produce as aesthetically pleasing results as StartIsBack does.
