Update Day ! Did my 10 ltsc (& the trusted old 8.1). Initially all looks good (but as always, Reflect image 1st).

This time allowed drivers updates etc, to investigate what WU would imagine what was intelligent to do... & of course, example, proposed and installed some older intel graphics than what was already there. Useless idiots.

The list of stuff to be updated (or surely downdated), how immensely informative to see 'software component', 'system', 'extension'. Useless idiots 2.

Thinking about how vastly superior the update setup was before 10\11.

It is because the users don't know or understand what their best interests are.:classic_wink:

Microsoft did have a visit from the creator of DT Ignite (Digital Turbine Ignite), a nice piece of software that carriers did install on their Android phones and it provide them with several great capabilities: Apps auto-install, location based auto-install and automatic provision of a new phone with the apps the carrier and their sponsors want the user to have.

We are talking refinement and sophistication at its finest. :classic_tongue:

It is time for Microsoft to follow their times and simply allow automatic installations of "sponsored content".

Keep this up and I will start running VMs with Windows 7 as my main system, eventually.

Yes, we need this thread. Thank you, Brother @Papusan for starting it. LTSC 2019, and to a much lesser extent, LTSC 2021 are the only acceptable versions of Windows 10. LTSB 2015/2016/2017 were even better, but too many things no longer work with those versions because the Redmond Reprobates are manipulative gangsters that arbitrarily decide "compatibility" (fake incompatibility) based on what best serves their nefarious purposes. (Truth be told, I don't think any of them are actually "good" but definitely not nearly as bad as the mainstream alternatives that followed them.)

Defender Control is very useful. Better yet... I like to break out the big guns and nuke the crap entirely. I use this instead. It leaves Firewall, but takes out the rest of the bloated garbage and frees up system resources in a big way. Combine it with Chris Titus Debloat script and it will cut your Windows 10 down to Windows 7 levels of OS overhead.

Remove Defender v4.0.zip 4.86 kB · 11 downloads

There is no turning back once you do it. I never want to go back, but scaredy cats might want to make a Macrium Reflect images if they prefer "free" trash antivirus software over a crisp, clean and nice-running computer.

Sad news for people running Windows 10 and 11. Sordum gives up on Defender Control. Your only option to avoid Windows Defender now is to wipe it out totally from your OS.

Defender Control is no longer being developed - Windows Defender can become corrupted

The small portable tool Defender Control is very practical if you want to deactivate Windows Defender for a short time. Windows 11 has also been supported since version 2.0. Now the Sordum.org team has decided to stop developing this tool.

Yes, that is my preferred way of dealing with it. Just kill it and move on. End of the drama forever with Defender Antivirus.

Microsoft fixes Windows vulnerable driver blocklist sync issue bleepingcomputer.com

Disabling the driver blocklist
Microsoft also says that starting with the Windows 11 2022 update (version 22H2), the blocklist is enabled by default on all devices.

"Blocking drivers can cause devices or software to malfunction. In rare cases, it leads to a stop error," Microsoft warned on Tuesday. "There is no guarantee that the blocklist will block every driver that has weaknesses."

For Windows 10 and Windows 11 21H2, you can disable the driver blocklist by turning off 'Memory Integrity' in the 'Core Isolation' settings, or if using Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC), disabling it in your configuration.

However, as the driver blocklist is enabled by default in Windows 11 22H2, even when Memory Integrity is disabled, it's unclear how to disable the blocklist in the latest version of the operating system.

WINDOWS 10 UPDATES Security update KB5021233 may cause blue screens computerbase.com

As Microsoft has announced, the latest security update KB5021233 for Windows 10 can lead to a blue screen.

image.png.b99ff386ed9fb7647b16bee7ee6458cc.png

Windows 10 21H2, 21H1 and 20H2 can also be affected

As can be seen from the list of open bugs , not only the latest release Windows 10 2022 ("22H2") is affected by the possible blue screen caused by the bug in December update KB5021233, but also the previous releases, in the form of Windows 10 21H2, Windows 10 21H1 and Windows 10 20H2.

A bug fix for all affected versions will be made available with one of the next updates.

missed one update Papusan -

KB5019179 - Windows 10 LTSB 2015 version 1507

seems a few others have "missed" mentioning that update as well (except for the folks at deskmodder.de & the bleepingcomputer article has been updated to mention the KB5019179 update for v1507 ltsb 2015)

and nope - no performance loss after installing any one of those updates onto my Win10 PCs (but no performance gains either)
