Yup. Full focus on quality and reliability will always pay of, LOOL @Mr. Fox+++ Microsoft confirms Windows 10 and 11 activation issues, says it is investigating techspot.com Facepalm: Microsoft is investigating a new activation issue that is affecting many Windows 10 and 11 PCs. The problem seems to have cropped up last month after the company pushed out an update to plug a loophole that allowed Windows 7,8, and 8.1 users to upgrade to Windows 10 and 11 for free. However, the update is reportedly causing issues for some people who say they used the method to legitimately move to Windows 10 or 11 from an older version of the OS. According to aggrieved users, the problem affects Windows 10/11 installations that were legally activated using Windows 7/8 product keys as part of a free upgrade offer from Microsoft. However, following last month's update some of those installations are reportedly getting deactivated if any hardware component in the PC is changed or the BIOS is updated. See also.... Microsoft is screaming for attention In the last few days, Microsoft has drawn the ire of many Windows users several times. For example, some users temporarily had to give a reason if they wanted to close the OneDrive app on Windows. After the media attention that this brought, the company backed down and stopped the feedback dialogue again. The new Outlook's silent synchronization of access data for email accounts with the Microsoft cloud was also recently met with little approval. Aaron44126
Microsoft is going to offer three years of extended support security updates for Windows 10, stretching its EOL from late 2025 to late 2028. No pricing yet, but they will be allowing individual consumers to buy into the program. When they did this for Windows 7, they upped the price each year that the program was active to further nudge people to move off. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/12/windows-10-gets-three-more-years-of-security-updates-if-you-can-afford-them/ https://www.theverge.com/2023/12/5/23988896/microsoft-windows-10-extended-security-updates-consumers-paid https://www.neowin.net/news/windows-10-will-get-three-years-of-extended-security-updates/ (Probably easier to just Windows 10 Enterprise IOT LTSC, which will be supported through 2031 and no extra cost for updates if you somehow manage to purchase a license.) 2 Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) • Dell Precision 7560 (work) • Full specs in spoiler block below Info posts (Dell) — Dell Precision key posts • Dell driver RSS feeds • Dell Fan Management — override fan behavior Info posts (Windows) — Turbo boost toggle • The problem with Windows 11 • About Windows 10 LTSC Spoiler Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) M2 Max 4 efficiency cores 8 performance cores 38-core Apple GPU 96GB LPDDR5-6400 8TB SSD macOS 14 "Sonoma" 16.2" 3456×2234 120 Hz mini-LED VRR display Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3 99.6Wh battery 1080p webcam Fingerprint reader Also — iPhone 12 Pro 512GB, Apple Watch Series 8 Dell Precision 7560 (work) Intel Xeon W-11955M ("Tiger Lake") 8×2.6 GHz base, 5.0 GHz turbo, hyperthreading ("Willow Cove") 64GB DDR4-3200 ECC NVIDIA RTX A2000 4GB Storage: 512GB system drive (Micron 2300) 4TB additional storage (Sabrent Rocket Q4) Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 15.6" 3940×2160 IPS display Intel Wi-Fi AX210 (Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3) 95Wh battery 720p IR webcam Fingerprint reader Previous Dell Precision 7770, 7530, 7510, M4800, M6700 Dell Latitude E6520 Dell Inspiron 1720, 5150 Dell Latitude CPi

Yup... If they can't sell you a new license (you don't want to pay for new hardware) they will still charge you if you still clinge on your old Windows 10 machines. Great idea but this should have been for free anyway. Their "free" OS should become free also as long they will support it. And they will. My best guess... People will find ways to avoid paying the updates 🙂 1 "The Killer" ASUS ROG Z790 Apex Encore | 14900K | 4090 HOF + 20 other graphics cards | 32GB DDR5 | Be Quiet!
