All about Windows 10 (LTSC included) news and announcements

About time we put up an thread about Win 10... All about Windows 10 (LTSC included) news and announcements.

Sordum just released updated DEFENDER CONTROL v2.1 today March 3, 2022 [Defender Control is a small Portable freeware which will allow you to disable Windows Defender in Windows 10 completely].

Defender Control v2.1 – What’s New – (Tuesday, March 1, 2022)

1. [Added] – Different blocking method
2. [Added] – Some code improvements

@Ashtrix @Mr. Fox ++++

Windows Defender, now called Microsoft Defender performed great in AV-TEST's assessment in the second half of 2021. Despite that, the product has failed to win any awards in the home user category.

Yes, we need this thread. Thank you, Brother @Papusan for starting it. LTSC 2019, and to a much lesser extent, LTSC 2021 are the only acceptable versions of Windows 10. LTSB 2015/2016/2017 were even better, but too many things no longer work with those versions because the Redmond Reprobates are manipulative gangsters that arbitrarily decide "compatibility" (fake incompatibility) based on what best serves their nefarious purposes. (Truth be told, I don't think any of them are actually "good" but definitely not nearly as bad as the mainstream alternatives that followed them.)

Defender Control is very useful. Better yet... I like to break out the big guns and nuke the crap entirely. I use this instead. It leaves Firewall, but takes out the rest of the bloated garbage and frees up system resources in a big way. Combine it with Chris Titus Debloat script and it will cut your Windows 10 down to Windows 7 levels of OS overhead.

Remove Defender v4.0.zip

There is no turning back once you do it. I never want to go back, but scaredy cats might want to make a Macrium Reflect images if they prefer "free" trash antivirus software over a crisp, clean and nice-running computer.

Yep, both is needed 🙂 More tools to stop the cancerware from Redmond the better.

WhoCrashed 7 adds full support for Windows 11 and latest bugchecks to improve diagnosis
Most likely needed if you have an vanilla Win 10 version as well😀

Microsoft will add more useless  Win 11 bloat on coming Win 10 feature update. @Mr. Fox @Ashtrix

Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Feature for Windows 10 with KB5011543 for Insiders wccftech.com

The taskbar search box and search home will periodically update with content, including fun illustrations, which help you discover more, be connected, and stay productive. Search highlights will present notable and interesting moments of what’s special about each day—like holidays, anniversaries, and other educational moments in time both globally and in your region.

I'm sure they will add in more Win 11 features in the future...

Watch out for these issues in Windows 11 KB5012592 & Windows 10 KB5012599 (2021 LTSC)

windowslatest.com- April 22, 2022

As part of the April 2022 cumulative updates, Microsoft published two major cumulative updates - Windows 11 KB5012592 and Windows 10 KB5012599. The two updates contain identical bug fixes and improvements because Windows 11  is apparently built on top of Windows 10.

Unfortunately, things aren’t going smoothly for everyone, particularly those who are on Windows 11.

Ran into all the error code specifically 0xxx98f error multiple times on a PC which had Dism Component cleanup performed and I didn't use ResetBase. Anyway I had to use deskmodder v4 script and afterwards the update was successful. It seems DismComponent cleanup is buggy on 21H1/H2. I think I need to use Dism++.

Windows 10 KB5014023 released, install the update for performance and fixes

June 3, 2022 (for Win 10 2021 LTSC)
0
Windows 10 KB5014023 is now available for users in the production channel as an optional update. The optional update doesn't come with new features for the OS and it's available via the Settings app. As always, you can download the offline installer of Windows 10 KB5014023 to install the patch without running into Windows Update issues. Don't forget this patch update is a Guinea Pig version.

In other words, it’s generally a good idea to avoid installing these optional updates unless you have a good reason to do so. If your computer is working properly and you do not have the issues mentioned in the release notes below, you should not install any of these optional updates.

Microsoft Bing Service 2.0: Update for Windows 11 and 10 leaves users at a loss

MICROSOFT BING SERVICE 2.0 Update for Windows 11 and 10 leaves users at a loss

Microsoft is distributing an update "Microsoft Bing Service 2.0" for Windows 11 and Windows 10, leaving users at a loss.

Uninstall not possible

For the time being, the inactive Bing launcher is completely functionless in the program directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\BingSvcand the autostart. The fact that this happens without any notice from Microsoft is not well received everywhere. Uninstalling the service is currently not possible. The installation of the MicrosoftSearchInBingv2.0 (MSI) service can in turn be triggered directly via the Microsoft server.

Yeah, they do this every month.  The preview update "fixes" will be rolled into the upcoming (required / non-preview) Patch Tuesday update.

The Bing Service 2.0 update just adds SHA2 support to existing Bing stuff.  (They could definitely have done well to properly explain that to people.)

Tried getting Dell Power Manager onto the Dell prec 5540, goes to the finish line then stops \ uninstalls.
Logs says something about incompatible OS. Anything else I've thrown at LTSC has worked 100%.

Not a crucial software to have, but wondering if it's really incompatible with LTSC ...or is it only here \ my tweaks.
So just curious, any Dell owner got Power Manager running on LTSC ? Or have experienced any other incompatible app situation ?

u might want to try older versions of the power manager, might be that the current version have a minimum windows version requirement inbuilt. the only issues ive had so far with ltsc 2019 based on w10 1809 were such instances.

Indeed, try to find a version from 2019 and then move up from there.  I think that Dell generally expects Windows 10 users to stay current.  (That said, I haven't had trouble with this + LTSC 2021.)

Best advice... Resist the urge to fix what isn't broken. If it isn't already broken from the last cancer cell injection, it will be once you "update" to their latest digital filth.
