Peak consumption goes beyond 260w, as far as I know the standard power supply for this model is 230-245w, which power supply do you use? If that was the case the fets will go in thermal protection and you would rather get throttling than shutdown. So let's see, he was drawing approx. 108W at 1.2 v, meaning 90amps. Even P870DM fets tripped at 120 amps, so is hard for me to believe that this are not rated above 90 amps. You are right on the cooling factor tough.
