Right the project is on hold for now, firstly the new server i was using had a SATA Controller fault so thats been RMA'd after it killed the SSD's (Data is safe), but also i have now been hired by a Corp and will be discussing about their IP side of things. Don't want to cause issues with the new employer by doing the driver mods and then them getting hit with DMCA's.

Once all that is sorted i will then update the thread, if i can't continue the project i will help someone take over said project as not to leave everyone stuck.

The last pack i made i did adjust the installer to make it easier should any issues arise and someone needed to take over.

I have all the Device ID's that are adding in file names related to which files need changing etc.

If i am allowed to continue just please bare in mind that i will be working so replies will be slow but will still be there.

that's ok.  take your time.  I don't see MSI releasing another newer realtek audio driver version until maybe next month.
btw, here was the direct link to that 6.0.9381.1 driver from MSI - apparently released for a new MSI Bravo 15 B5E laptop; took me a few weeks to find out MSI mentioned a new laptop model for the Bravo series

Thanks for understanding, it's been hectic so only weekends will be my downtime.

@epguy3 If there is a new driver let me know as I should be able to pop something out this weekend.

looks like MSI did release a new realtek audio driver in mid-September 2022

v6.0.9388.1 > for a certain 12th gen intel based MSI PRO desktop pc; should also work on some modern MSI laptops & desktop motherboards as well

and the Nahimic APO4 SWC driver will need to be updated as well - to either 4.8.2.0 or 4.8.6.0 from Microsoft

MSI still has the outdated 4.8.1 package but has updated 1.3.8.0 extension driver included (haven't seen 4.8.2 or newer from MSI)

btw, Windows 11 22H2 (aka. the 2022 update) recently came out on Tue. Sept. 20

also, some of Mokichu's Asus + SS3 (sonic studio 3) based recent Realtek audio drivers include Nahimic APO3 SWC driver v3.5.2.0.  won't find that new APO3 driver version anywhere else

I just noticed and tested the new drivers and pretty much everything works as it should (as before), except i don't have any sound on my headphones, even though they are recognized when connected 😐. I already fiddled with pretty much all the options there is on the Realtek Audio Console & Nahimic (deactivating/activating options, changing the sample rate, disabling the audio improvements, etc).

The troubleshooting i did (aside from the ones mentioned by solidus1983):

Tested the phones on another device, working, so the headphones are good.

Rolled back to a previous driver with Full Uninstall (9363), no good.

I checked the connector inside and there's nothing stuck, or dust or corrosion, etc.

No Windows fresh install though due to my extreme necessity of having my laptop ready and i'm short on time to do it.

Don't know if it's coincidence or not, but Windows 10 did make some updates very recently, and i didn't use my headphones (with jack) for a couple of weeks to ensure that it was Windows, and for some reason, i cannot uninstall the latest update 🤨

I'm 95% sure that solidus1983 drivers are not to blame, but i thought i shared my issue here, in case anyone is also having the same problem, or heard/read of it (unless it's the connector that simply reached the end of it's life).

I'm using a GS73VR-7RF with Windows 10 21H2 (19044.2075) x64.

Appreciate any help in advance 🙂

Cheers

Also try another jack or headphones as well, If you have 4 jacks try Jack 1 and jack 4.

@epguy3 Could you be so kind and get them files and rub them into one file for me sorry i mean zip them into one zip file for me. Once i have a free second i will gladly then make a new Mod pack.

I will not include ASUS's SWC drivers in my builds, only MSI or MS stuff.

Of course. DxDiag report is attached.

I only have 1 jack output and 1 jack input (it's a laptop, GS73VR-7RF). As soon as i plug in, the jack it's recognized, but there is no sound at all (not muffled or suppressed as you indicate in your troubleshooting guide).

I tested the headphones on another device and they work normally. Other headphones tested and it's the same result.

Again, don't know if it's drivers issue or if it was Windows newest update or the jack connector broke and maybe it was already like this and i didn't notice before because i didn't use it for a week 😅.

Again, thank you for the help 🙂

@bbb27 Does the Volume Control show that its connected ? Does realtek control panel show it plugged in as well?

Plug in the Headset and check the volume settings if that doesn't work not sure what else can be done, other then the driver was there any other changes on the system?

@solidus1983Yes, Volume Control shows connected and Realtek Control Panel also shows as connected and the moment i connect it, it immediately changes the default device to the S/PDIF Output (as it always done since... forever).

Other than the Windows 10 Update (19044.2075), no changes on the system, and for some reason i cannot revert this update 😒... And i cannot afford to format and clean re-install everything due to my lack of free time (and i REALLY need my laptop to work) but i guess that will be the only remain solution for troubleshooting this issue 😩

I'm pretty positive that your drivers are not to blame, because i also reverted to a previous version (9363) which i was sure it was working and the issue remained, so it was either Windows 10 being Windows 10 (as usual 🤷‍♂️) or the connector simply reached the end of it's life 😅, but since you guys are the experts on this kind of things i just thought it would be better i asked for your opinions ☺️

@solidus1983 It's ok, i appreciate your help in this matter. Besides, it's not a critical issue (nothing a wireless headphones won't fix 😄).

But answering to your question, yes there is a small static noise while connecting the jack to the connector (when is not fully seated). From the top of my head i believe it always made this (i have other devices that makes the same static noise when connecting a headphones jack).

unfortunately I won't be able to put them into one zip package due to MY busy schedule.

here's the direct link to the Nahimic APO4 SWC 4.8.6.0 cab download from Microsoft.  and the direct link to the Nahimic Mirroring 2.0.1.0 cab download from Microsoft.

if you weren't able to make a modded 6.0.9388.1 driver by now, that's ok.
abandon or drop plans for that version and concentrate on making a modded 6.0.9414.1 version instead after MSI updated the realtek_audio_R.zip package on Tuesday Sept. 27 to 6.0.9414.1. (after the recent announcements of new MSI desktop boards featuring Intel Z790 & AMD X670 chipsets)

edit - MSI has not been updating the realtek_audio_N_APO3 & realtek_audio_N_APO4 zip packages since mid-April 2022 and still contain the outdated 6.0.9336.1 driver version along with outdated Nahimic APO3 & APO4 components (hmm, has MSI been kinda lazy only updating just the realtek_audio_R package but not the other ones that bundle Nahimic?)

I will be updating the installer soon as well as i have found the cause of the virustotal flagging issues which is launch.exe which its sole goal was to change permissions to that of user and execute the ahk script.

So will make a script to do the same where its not an .exe

  • 2 weeks later...

here's the link to the updated A-volute Nahimic APO3 & APO4 SWC drivers
(APO3 v3.5.3.0 & APO4 v4.9.1.0)

I decided to pack them into one zip file [APO4 4.9.1.0 became available on MS Update in early October while I found the APO3 3.5.3.0 SWC driver packaged in one of the recent Realtek USB audio driver packs released from Asus for newly released ROG B650 motherboards]

on a different note, sometimes I wish I had found this Reddit topic sooner

better late than never I guess
