Unfortunately that was not the solution. To search for the fault is not easy and maybe is very expensive. I‘m searching for a new P775TM/dm board.

However if thats still too much then maybe AliExpress might have some cheaper.

Also too much and not available. So now cpu and gpu stays cold. I think it has something to do with the power sequence. But not easy to find this fault.

AliExpress is your best bet then to get even lower prices. but beware, shipping times might be loooooong, so better order sooner rather than later 😅

Now I bought a P775DM3 Barebone for about 300 Euro. Hope everything will work.
Will a 980 from a P870DM fit and work?

it depends on the form factor. the single full fat 200W design from the P870DM will not work. but if its a SLI card in the 175W variety, then it will work (if i remember correctly. its been a while 🙂 )

lets call bro @Mr. Fox on this because i remember he has handled both variants of the 980.

yep thats the 200W card. if i remember correctly that wont fit in the P775DM3.

have u thought about a Pascal card? seems like it goes up to 1080, if not Turing maybe?

There was an MSI "980" that was a tiny bit longer than a 980M standard MXM that might work. Everything about the form factor is MXM and the fit of components should not be a problem. Heat sink fit is fine, etc. The 980M is also a normal MXM and should work with the form factor and heat sink because it is the same as any other "normal" MXM card. The big Clevo 980 shown in the photo won't fit in the chassis AFAIK. I do not remember if the die is in the same location, but the normal 980M heat sink won't fit.

hi all, i have read the whole thread and i was wondering why doing all these bios flash on a non working notebook.

first thing to do is to know why notebook died. high temperature,  some voltage kick, nothing special?

to spot a problem we need to focus on synthom the pc give to us.

fan spin then power off can be: cpu or ram problem or bios problem.

ec bios is responsible to light , power botton and kbc controller. to see if ec is ok, notebook  works fine to power botton pressing, battery charge led, 3.3 volt on battery connector. if all that are ok, then ec is fine and no need to reflash.

also ec or kbc is flashable, but depend on kbc controller. if u have a 8 pin chip, then u can use a normal bios programmer. if it has no 8 pin bios chip and u have ite8587, then  u need a svod programmer  and use keyboard connector on notebook to flash it, but pc shoud stay on...

try to flash back old ec (u saved original file?) then try just  to flash main 8mb bios in it.

insert only one stick or ram.

u say fan stay 100% , but how many seconds ?

if u have bad ram, notebook wil power on then off almost immediately.

so first try to do a backroll on ec and just working bios. then we can see if there is some problem on voltage  ic supply.(shorts )

how many seconds pc will stay on?  it do the same without cpu ram vga ?

Looks like i have almost the same problem but the cause is different, started with one ssd and when i made the first cmos reset i lost xmp profile and the ram was working only at 1119 mhz and when i did a second cmos reset to try and get back the xmp laptop died and i can boot anymore and its behaving the same... fans at 100% and after a while it shuts down
