The 4090 is so expensive that I would want to see something like a 50% increase over the 3080 that recently has come down in price a lot but that will be very difficult to achieve with a 135W power limit!

This increase is relatively unlikely. Maybe a third of it. Then there is the question of compatibility! A lot has to be done on the hardware side. I am in communication with the company regarding the problems!

A 50% increase should not be a problem with the card running at the usual 175W power limit and possibly even at 150 to 160W. The 3080 already had 16GB memory and is good for gaming at QHD resolutions so spending that much money for a ca 30% increase in performance strikes me as not that desirable especially for something that is not a plug and play solution.

In any case, it will become much cheaper over time. Maybe by some miracle they will release a version for Clevo (it's almost impossible) or tell you what is needed for the initial functioning of this GPU.

We will see. In any case, this card has slightly different pin assignments for certain pins. Of course you can mod the motherboard again. Probably nobody will buy this card for a Clevo model and it will all come to nothing. Of course, 16 lanes won't work in the P870xx either.

P.S: If you want, you can send me this card and see how I can get it to work in the P870xx!!!

So I found a cheap 3080 and pulled the trigger and it should arrive very soon, Here's hoping one of my heatsinks works, I wouldn't of normally of pulled the trigger but it was cheap and I've recently gotten myself a nice bonus.

And with tax time around the corner it'll be time to get that panel.

Does anyone know what kind of screws the CPU Mount uses so I can get some replacements as they are unfortunately starting to round ou.

Can you briefly explain what you mean? I didn't understand your text.

Can you please point out the part you don't understand as the entire post is very clear and obvious.

Which heatsink do you have? Did you had to make any modification to it in order to fit the RTX3080?

I was about to trade my P870 for a desktop combo, but I just found out I can put a RTX3080 MXM on it, I had to cancel the deal lol...

According to the thread it should work right away with stock CLEVO BIOS, so I'm clear on that.

But I'm confused about the heatsink, do I have to make any modification or additional mods to the dual vapor chamber heatsink to make it fit? or does it fit right away?

I was looking at this GPU: Clevo X170KM NVIDIA RTX 3080 GN20-E7-A1 16GB

I think @Developer79 made custom brackets. I have the P870DM3-G and the RTX 3080 mounted to the MOBO but the big heatsink was not aligned for the screw holes so I didn't screw the heatsink to it. Bot I left the GTX 1080 in the 2nd slot and that is fully mounted properly. The main issue was a gap in the 3080 not touching the heatsink. I heatgunned an old M18xr2 GPU heatsink and the copperplate was 1mm thick and fit perfect, thermal pasted both sides and is running perfect. Both cards are always within 1 or 2 degrees temp from each other no matter which card I am loading up

Once again for clarification:
In order to install the RTX3080/70/60 MXM in the P870xx, the mounting between the heatsink and the graphics card must of course be modified. As everyone now knows, the mounting holes of the RTX30xx MXM are no longer identical to those of the RTX20xx/RTX20xxSuper/GTX10xx/GTX9xx MXM series! I have developed adapters especially for the Vapourchamber which have been working for a good 2 years in the 3 version. Of course, the Vapourchamber must also be machined accordingly with the milling machine. This whole topic motivated me to develop it myself because the Vapourchamber is the best air cooling system for laptops. Of course, the other heatsinks that have come out for the RTX20xx / GTX10xx also work. But with the Vapourchamber, the P870xx is the best cooled laptop ever at maximum gaming performance. Only water cooling is better, of course!

Addition:
I have now also perfected the bios detection of the RTX30xx series.
Many thanks to RUNIX for the tips.
You don't have to have it, but it's nice if you know how:-)

I can leave a picture to see what the Vapourchamber with 2x RTX3080 in the P870xx looks like. But that was just a test because of SEMI-SLI. Otherwise I only ever install 1x RTX30xx MXM in the P870xx!

Greetz:-)

Don't bother asking, everytime I have mentioned or asked for pictures or anyhting else I never get a response out of them that actually involves or includes those, They've also mentioned they had them for sale/developed them but I still havn't  seen them so I honestly don't know.

I currently have 3 heatsinks and will modify one if I must in order to get it to work, The main concern is the Bios, Anything else is secondary.

It's currently still in transport as-well, everything takes forever to get too australia.

Yes, that big fat Vapourchamber is the best, thats why I am not modifying it. I left the 1080 in 2nd slot to help hold it down tight since there are no screws in the 3080. The 1mm copper plate seems to be working well, even though nothing is holding it in place but I am not running up and down the stairs with this heavy Clevo LOL. If I took out the 1080 and wanted to install NVME adapter I would be more interested in those adapters, but this laptop I am keeping in the coral, not like I did my m18xr2, opening it up over 100 times causing the most wear and tear. This P870DM3-G is the best in the world #1 cause it is in my house, #2 cause I really like it and #3 cause it has alot of upgrade potential, but it is good as it is right now, @Meaker has water cooling and shunt mod and that laptop can't be beat. Mine is running problem free and am going to try to leave it that way, until a significant upgrade shows up (sometimes I just can't stop myself)

is taking up like 20 spots   with all his scores so I get knocked down to 31. I would be like 11

And @Meaker still got #1

Actually this RaIdZz  has an I9-11900k and can"t beat an I9-9900ks, he should be embarrassed and remove all his scores. I have an I9-9900k so it should be as expected to beat the I9-9900 series but he has failed!

You got to look at the Leaderboard view then everybody will only be there once and you got 9th place:

https://www.3dmark.com/search#advanced?test=sw DX&cpuId=&gpuId=1372&gpuCount=0&gpuType=ALL&deviceType=ALL&storageModel=ALL&showRamDisks=false&memoryChannels=0&country=&scoreType=overallScore&hofMode=true&showInvalidResults=false&freeParams=&minGpuCoreClock=&maxGpuCoreClock=&minGpuMemClock=&maxGpuMemClock=&minCpuClock=&maxCpuClock=

CPU does not matter any more as this is a GPU only score.

I still think it is better to just use Time Spy as they have about 100 times as many scores so this gives a better idea of how good the 3080 really works:

https://www.3dmark.com/search#advanced?test=spy P&cpuId=&gpuId=1372&gpuCount=0&gpuType=ALL&deviceType=ALL&storageModel=ALL&showRamDisks=false&memoryChannels=0&country=&scoreType=graphicsScore&hofMode=true&showInvalidResults=false&freeParams=&minGpuCoreClock=&maxGpuCoreClock=&minGpuMemClock=&maxGpuMemClock=&minCpuClock=&maxCpuClock=

With a 150W power limit it probably will be very hard to crack the top 100 in that ranking.
