I bought this 3080

same 3080 that I have on the way, It's shipping is taking forever though.

On a different topic, I would of liked to of seen AMD continue on and make some current gen MXM cards since Nvidia is trying their best to get rid of it when there really is no need to get rid of the MXM formfactor as a standard.

I will point out that despite it being low end and being type A https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/partner/showcase/offering/a5b3b0000004g2yAAA/adlink-mxmaxe-mxm-31-type-a-module-based-on-intel-arc-gpu.html

Intel has an Arc GPU on MXM, Maybe Intel will start putting higher tier things on MXM?

I would have a higher place but some moron https://www.3dmark.com/sn/147293 RaIdZz

is taking up like 20 spots   with all his scores so I get knocked down to 31. I would be like 11

And @Meaker still got #1

I'd like to see an NPU on MXM and having 2 pcie slots maybe run both GPU and NPU

I am fairly sure there are MXM adapter boards to support NVME m.2 slots so we can use Tensor based Addin cards on that slot if we want.

It is very unlikely that AMD or Intel will do something that Nvidia does not! It has to do with the monetary system. It's about selling laptops that are good for one generation and then in the next generation everyone has to buy new laptops in order to have new laptops. Clevo was the last big manufacturer in the HIGH-END sector. Clevo has also submitted because they are forced by contract. Laptops like the P870xx or X170xx or P775xx were the best examples that it is no problem to develop something like this!
There are currently only soldered boards! I can hardly imagine that it will be any different in the medium term. The financial pressure is too great.
That was also the reason why I thought the idea of the MXM-PCIe adapter was so cool and developed everything. My electronic kit has been developed so far. I have currently made a 3rd version to test things out. On the whole, however, everything works stably. There are still a few things to test and redesign, but basically it works.
Theoretically, the CPU socket with adapter for 13th/14th Gen HX Intel can also be developed. That would be cool, but the 9900K/KS is still good for gaming. Besides, I don't want to venture into such an adventure at the moment, I'd rather finish the MXM-PCIe adapter first:-)

also, does this work with just two drives or 4 M.2 SSDs?

do you have a picture/design of this adapter?

I saw some that can hold 2-4 m.2 SSDs but unsure where to purchase them, sadly the post was 2+  years ago

yea this is that one that I saw.  edit: I don't have an account on Taobao I believe it won't even let foreign people register. Last I tried never worked over the last several years and eventually gave up.  If it isn't on aliexpress/alibaba or ebay then no luck, unless someone here willing to sell one.

I actually got two 22110 length SSD and right now I had to throw in an adatper cable in the machine to make use of it but with this it'll be less clustered.

also, would the SSDs on this adapter card be bootable?

If we could get access to that, We could use things like https://coral.ai/products/m2-accelerator-dual-edgetpu/, Maybe not that one specifically since that one is keyed wrong but we could use things like that and it would be amazing for Acceleration of AI specific tasks.

Also my 3080 has arrived finally and I shall be getting it on thursday, now if @Developer79 can provide details of how their brackets work, Pictures of said brackets, Or a place to purchase said brackets that would be great, Otherwise I will be doing an initial "does it turn on" test and then making my own.

So I can repeat it again. The adapters were developed by me and are now in their 3rd version. If you want to know something about it, you can write to me here by e-mail:-) Since the RTX30xx MXM came out, my adapters have been running and I have been constantly improving them.

I don't know if you got yours from the same seller I got mine in but!

It had a lot of dried thermal paste smeared in odd spots so I've spent a fair bit of time cleaning it up and checking it over, After-all I don't get any 'do-overs' so to speak, I will be installing it sometime in the next 24 hours to see how we go, I've also dropped down too a single stick of 32GB of ram and reset the bios to make sure I have the least issue's possible while checking things over.

Not the SSDs adapter. @Developer79 developed an internal mxm egpu adapter to use a desktop gpu with p870 works at 16x leans and it supports pcie Gen 4.0 and 5.0  gpuz it will be an evolution of laptop world . imagine … you can upgrade your gpu as a desktop every 2 years.. we are waiting his project to finish . Thank you @Developer79  and @rainer124 for their great efforts until this moment…

Hi,

I sat down and developed a holder for the GTX10xx-RTX30xx for the P870DMG! Until now, it was always a bit difficult to convert because of the holder of the new generations. Many people have already built their own holder, but always in a special way. Here is my model for printing in 3D. Plastic is perfectly adequate:-)

do you have an extra 4x m.2 SSD adapter to mxm card?  us can't really purchase from taobao it requires an account and  iirc a chinese mobile phone number which I was never able to fully register.
