  1. I think many Z690/Z790 2 dimm motherboards are better than a lot of people think. That 7600-7800ish range is really the IMC limitation on many 13th gen CPU’s. Even my own SP110 13900K could not “Truly” stabilize DDR5 7800 with my Unify-X. I thought it was my Z690 Unity-X motherboard the entire time. I popped in a 13900KS with a superior IMC and BAM! I am benching DDR5 8400 easily without even touching my CPU IMC voltage or CPU IVR TX voltage. Funny thing is, you also don’t see many people mentioning this either. I didn’t realize the chip had a weak IMC until after I got rid of it actually lol. Even when I had my KS in the Unify-X, I ran 7600-7800ish for a bit. Until one day I got a wild hair and started messing with memory overclocking again. And then I had a revaluation of a moment. 🤯when DDR5 8000c34 was so easily daily stable. I got me a great IMC on this KS here. I really love it. Make an all the difference in that fine tuning.
  2. Seeing all of these new and crazy expensive slower GPU’s is really why I have been happy with my 3090KP for so long. I’ve had it for almost 2 years now. I have never kept a GPU this long in my LIFE!! I usually dump them after 3-6 months. But what can I say? It’s been fast! Nvidia released some optimized drivers that improved performance in a lot of titles. And when you feed it 650 watts in games, all backed by a 13900KS and DDR5 8600 It’s really really quick in 1440P haha. Hard to believe people can pick these up for $600 ish throw a waterblock on, flash bios and gain another 18-20% in performance. That’s a bargain. Especially with DLSS and all. Once I do upgrade my GPU, it will be exciting! Because I am bored to death with this thing 😂. This 3090 Kingpin Hydro Copper has sat on top of numerous builds. 7980XE+X299 Dark 3090KP 10900K+Z490 Dark KP 3090KP 10850K+Z490 Dark KP 3090KP 11900K+Z590 Dark 3090KP 13900K+Z690 Unify-X 3090KP 13900KS+Z690 Apex 3090KP 13900KS+Z790 Apex 3090KP 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
  3. That’s awesome. Much better cpu that KS is. Once they are all delidded and on direct die, no matter the SP they all are in a similar range with one another. I would push the ring and see where it goes. Some odd ball KS can run 5.4 ring perfectly fine. Several of my 13900K could do 5.3 ring even. May as well max it out lol. My KS can only run 5.1 tops stable. But yours can probably go 5.2 or even 5.3.
  4. NEVERRRRRR MUWAHAHAHAH!!!!! lol. Kidding. Honestly, I’m just waiting to upgrade. This 3090 is super fast still, 16,200ish Port Royal with my current profile. I launch titles and max them all out perfectly fine at 2560x1440P 80+ to 100+ FPS easy with even the most demanding titles. I’m waiting for the 4090Ti or 4090 Titan to see what happens with regular 4090 prices. I’d like to grab a cheap 4090 HOF. Or maybe splurge and grab a full on Titan of 2023 for $2,999. I will say this though. For the first time I saw a game push my GPU pretty dang hard, this was last night. I was cruising through steam and I bought “Callisto effect” on sale for like $30 bucks. And I maxed it out 100%, ray tracing, and no down scaling enabled at all, it was averaging about 70’s 80’s. But I did see my system dip to 51 fps at one point in the game. I was pretty surprised. The graphics looked amazing though.
  5. Test benches are just so good! That’s why @Mr. Fox keeps going back to it. No matter what new case he tries, he always goes back to that trusty old test bench😂
  6. These new 7200 G.Skill sticks are just madness. Anyone else running these new 2x24’s? Mine have been at 8600 c38-52-52-52-139 for over a week now. Solid as a rock! I slowly worked my way up on these. First 8000 for some days, then 8200 for some days, then 8400 for some days, now 8600 and I tell you after 7 days of daily use you no BSODS, no WHEAS. Just solid as a rock!! I work on this system 8 hours a day as well. It’s really surprising to be running this. 😂 DDR5 8600 138.900 MBPS bandwidth 50.7ns latency. These are my timings below. I run these voltages. 1.350 CPU IMC 1.350 IVR TX 1.550V DDR5 VDD 1.500V DDR5 VDDQ PS: The 6.3Ghz is just (4) core loads, 6.0Ghz for all cores. I keep my water at 18.3C daily, but it does reach 24C at times during gaming. This KS is really not picky of water temps like my 13900K was. I had to maintain a SUB 18C cold temp with my 13900K for 6Ghz daily, whereas my 13900KS is like whatever…. “I like bath water” strange silicon these KS chips are! They have something special in them 🤷‍♂️🤣
  7. Anyone try one of these liquid devil 7900XTX? They cost $1,399.99. I think it’s cool looking. https://www.microcenter.com/product/664356/powercolor-amd-radeon-rx-7900-xtx-liquid-devil-overclocked-liquid-cooled-24gb-gddr6-pcie-40-graphics-card
  8. Testing DDR5 8600c38 with my G.Skill 7200 2x24GB sticks. Looking great so far!! Man oh man! I got a good IMC, I got a good motherboard, and I have a good ram set! This trio combo really makes it too easy. CPU IMC voltages are at 1.350v CPU IVR TX voltages are 1.350v DDR5 VDD is 1.530V DDR5 VDDQ is 1.500v I had a feeling my IMC was good because of how well the chip could drive high DDR5 8000+ speeds on just a Unify-X Z690. You can be IMC limited on either Z690 Dark, and Z690 Unify-X.
  9. Man, I have been sick as a dog forever now. I had like COVID or the flu 🤷‍♂️. Funny because I took vacation from work, and been sick all this time, perfect timing I guess 😂. I have lost 16lbs in a week by just laying around in bed being sick!! That is insane.
  10. That sucks. I would have just paid the extra $70. It’s definitely a great motherboard. And it would be a really fun project to swap everything over. And in the end you’d have a unicorn Z690 Apex.
  11. Great results! How’s the Apex treating you? I think not bad for the money! It’s like only $699.99 compared to the Z790 Dark $799.99. I’m loving mine man, especially with these 2x24GB dimms. Stabilizing 8200 on air cooling was a walk in the park with only 1.350V. Passes right through Ant777 extreme. I’m not quite done yet, I’ve just been too busy this week for any serious tuning. I may be able to get 8400 on air cooling. This is hopeful thinking. But these 2x24 sticks don’t run quite as tight timings as traditional 2x16 kits, so faster speeds are much easier I think.
  12. Playing with DDR5 8200 Air 2x24GB sticks. 1.350V VDD/VDDQ. 1.250V SA 1.350 IVR TX 1.400 IMC 8200c40 (262K tREFI) running nice N cool!
  13. I know these are insane man. Let me tell you, if they perform anything like my 2x24GB kit I bet they are even more impressive. My 7200 kit runs exactly like the $420 dollar 8000 kit even with same voltages/timings, and they run like 33C on air in games. The feel and overclock it just totally different compared to how traditional 2x16GB sticks perform and feel. I can’t really explain it. I guess the best words would be easy and awesome lol. Having 48GB and 96GB as new upcoming standards is really cool. I wouldn’t trust buying anny 48GB/96GB kits from Corsair unless you could confirm it’s new Hynix A-Die. Corsair sells DDR5 7000 sticks that are Micron IC’s and they overclock very very poorly. These new Hynix 3rd gen IC’s are amazing whether you’re on AMD or Intel there is an option. I know if I was on AMD I’d be running those G.Skill 96 giggers 100%. I do still want to try them already as it is 😭 but they are really expensive. I guess if you look at what you’re getting it’s not that bad. Extremely fast low latency dual rank and 96GB DDR5, it’s not that bad for $470.
  14. I’m curious how these would perform. These are 6400c32 with 1.35V and freaking 96GB. What are your thoughts, besides the $469 price tag lol. https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-96gb/p/N82E16820374464?Item=N82E16820374464&Description=96GB DDR5&cm_re=96GB_DDR5-_-20-374-464-_-Product
  15. These new 2x24GB sticks are really interesting. 😊 I like them! Such nice low voltage.
  16. OMG they are delicious bro lol. I went in the bios set XMP Tweaked to 7200CL38. Then before even rebooting I bumped them to the same specs as the DDR5 8000 bigger brother sticks lol. So that’s DDR5 8000 CL40-48-48-48-127 with only 1.350V and they are just marvelous (HWinfo shows 1.335V VDD/VDDQ) And running like 27C-29C with fan. They feel too easy to tune so far. 😬 I would say so far probably just grab the DDR5 7200 sticks are amazing. Especially on air cooling. They are so sweet! I originally ordered the 2x24GB 8000 set but I cancelled and grabbed the 2x24GB 7200. Because (3) different people told me they were the same lol, and it’s looking that way so far. I imagine Hynix has not shortage of these new dies lol. Or grab the 8000’s. I’m extremely happy so far though. I have a lot more dialing in to do. But DDR5 8000 with 1.35V and auto everything else? Lol. Yep! Sign me up. Yes these are the new 3rd gen Hynix from what I understand. I’m so happy with how user friendly they are and finding stability right out of the gate, then I can just tune and optimize from here. These are single rank sticks so 3x8Gbit sized module on each dimm I believe? Solid solid solid!!
  17. New 2x24GB sticks are here. 🤩 Cool 48 gigs of ram!!
  18. That’s extremely quick. How does that even happen? Lol.
  19. That is just insane! Well anyone who didn’t grab one has another 3-6 months for the next batch I suppose. My taxes are 6.75% I believe. I am in North Carolina. Very rarely do I order something online from another state, and they don’t tax me lol. Some odd ball places do not though. That’s amazing. I’d say you got lucky then. Watch your CPU voltage when overclocking memory to higher levels 7800+ range. I left my 13900KS on stock clocks/auto voltages which was stable for any CPU stress test. But I couldn’t stabilize anything for my ram at all beyond 7800+. I was pulling my hair out trying to find the issue. I thought I had broke my motherboard with a FW/Bios update. Turns out, my cpu running stock with auto voltage was actually limiting my max stable memory overclock even though my CPU voltage was on auto/stock and 100% stable. My board is veryyy nice. Running like a champ now that I figured that out. I have some new Hynix 2x24GB rams that’ll be here tomorrow for it. So I overclocked cpu first then ram good to go 🤷‍♂️
  20. Yep Asus has Z790 Apex in stock!! I bet these are same batch as mine. Only mine came straight from China to me. https://shop.asus.com/us/rog/90mb1cf0-m0aay0-rog-maximus-z790-apex.html @johnksssdid you buy one?
  21. This place has Z790 Apex in-stock (1 left) $748 USD. https://www.grooves.land/asus-asus-rog-maximus-z790-apex-intel-lga-1700-intel-celeron-intel-core-intel-core-intel-core-intel-asus-hardware-electronic-pZZa1-2100734159.html?currency=USD&language=en&_z=us&gclid=CjwKCAjwrpOiBhBVEiwA_473dDi-3k0wgJI7t4pwTVKJ8F-_tBlK4A1piCJt4mmB1rK5BYnhIHuoXhoCJGwQAvD_BwE
  22. Yeah the Z690 Apex boards were upsetting. I still liked it so much though, I was willing to sacrifice a little memory overclock ability just to use the motherboard. The voltage control was nice, and it ran a CPU stock extremely well. It’s impressive seeing my current Apex drive a 13900KS without power limited to 280 watts under R23 with auto/default stock voltages. @Mr. Fox could also pick up that one Z690 Apex on HWBot with no heatsinks or covers and swap all of the parts over. Both board cost(s) combined would still make it a great deal. I guess I should turn MRC back on. It trains pretty quickly with it off though. It’s not so bad. I’m tempted to grab me some really cool ram now 🤣 and a white PCB 4080 or 4090. The new 2x24GB DDR5 and 2x48GB DDR5 kits are looking good! Speaking of which if I was @electrosoft I’d be grabbing some of the new Hynix A-Die 2x48GB (6400) sets. I think that dual rank A-Die would match well with Ryzen 3D chips. The Apex Z790 is very solid though. I can definitely live happily with this motherboard. I guess I should have had one about 4 months ago. But no worries. Not much of the really cool PC stuff in the US. Right now I’m memory limited though, I have to send 1.650V VDD/VDDQ to stabilize just 8000c34 using my 7200c34 sticks.
  23. Not really sure why EK didn’t take the more simplistic approach like the Ice man DD block. Im really curious to hear how this competes against the 12th gen super cool DD.
  24. Glad it’s working okay. DDR5 7000 was definitely working. And it managed to get through “The Last of Us (Vanilla) 30 minute shader compile. This is seriously a tough test lol. I also ran the Aida 64 memory stress test at DDR5 7000 but not for very long. Make sure to disable both MRC fast boot, and regular fast boot. MRC fast boot is in the Dram timing page. I would apply your memory setting of 6800 reboot and hit the retrain button. My Z790 Apex was fantastic out of the box, then I go and update its FW and bios. And it took a turn for the worse, board was horrible man I actually thought I literally broke it. Disabling those 2 items and hitting retrain button fixed me right up, it was literally a magic button (I wish I would have tried this on the Z690 Apex, but I had no idea about it)
