Hello. It's late I know. These cards from Aetina, ZRT and X-VSION aren't working with eDP laptops screen, despite having eDP or DP on port D. You need to mod your MXM slot to bring back something. You see, the screen needs to get started in order to display something and the backlight isn't on... You need to mod and make the backlighting work again. These cards work on Optimus too.

clevo p870tm/tm1-g Official Clevo P870TM-G Thread

@Developer79 Hello are pins 278 and 280 mandatory like pin 240 and 242? Or should they always pass to the GPU? It's just one line with some capacitors on the way. Some MXM cards don't have them visible, maybe it's inside the multi-layered PCB. -
Yes, I recommend PayPal too... but they aren't helping me right now... They don't want to test the backlight mod to bring back display on their test eDP laptop... Their response time now isn't very reactive ATM.

P870DM3-g does Dsanke's bios support the RTX 3080 and QTJ1 cpu
SuperMG replied to Mal's topic in Sager & Clevo
I got a Xeon E-2286M QS and I'll undervolt it. The seller said he can't modify "the bios". Where can I get the latest bios for it? P870KM. I found one online for 9900KS 128GB Thanks. -
Hello I did this and it's in production Yes for the 3 pins, the reverse side will have some very thin layer of double-sided tape. I added some shapes to the extremities so we can stick with some tape. Won't short-circuit, can handle over 230C of ambient temperature.

M17X R4 is the same M17X R3 eDP in terms of MXM pinouts and connector. Did the Quadro Pascal or GTX 1070M ever work on the R3? Because they do on the R4.
-
Hello some news! The manufacturing has started! I'll get the samples maybe this week, but I'm not sure. Here are some pictures on how the backlight mod should work: Here is how it should sit on the top side of the MXM card This mod will work on any Turing to Ada MXM cards that are lacking the 3 backlight panel pins and also the ones who have eDP or DP on port D! You'll finally have a display on your internal screen!

Need Help Flashing & Obtaining Unlocked Bios AW M18X R2
SuperMG replied to nicholas1020's topic in Alienware 18 and M18x
Pascal doesn't run on LVDS display of your M18X R2. You're stuck with a GTX 980M or M5000M for that type of display. Pascal only does eDP display. You can still do M5000M for master + P4000 for slave or Intel HD + P4000 in SG.- 8 replies

clevo p870tm/tm1-g Official Clevo P870TM-G Thread
SuperMG replied to ViktorV's topic in Sager & Clevo
Already planned an instruction for that. All the measurements for the pins and pitch are good! It's just about installing it on the right pins! The instruction could help! So it's kinda safe if you know what you're doing! Just like soldering! Always a risk if you don't know what you're doing -

Hello people! Good news! I made some progress to get the RTX Turing, Ampere and Ada cards to work on the eDP display! Brands like Aetina, Adlink, PNY, X-VSION and ZRT will work with the mod I'm going to manufacture the next week! All of these cards have something in common... They all miss the 3 backlight pins and they all have eDP or DP on the port D (DP_D)! That's it! With my new solution, it'll be a solder-less mod! It'll be easy to apply on the pads of the MXM card with a very flexible flex cable! In theory it'll work 100% like the solder mod! Stay tuned for other updates! -
Hello guys. I managed to finish the design and I'll find a manufacturer. Edit: I found a manufacturer for making the flex cable mod! It'll get produced on monday
-
Hello. Do you know the width of one MXM pin? Is it 0.3mm? 0.35mm? Literally no information online other than one thing... 0.5mm pitch, that's it. Here's how it should be.
-
@Developer79 Solder-less idea, using thin flex cables and one wire. (Sorry for the bad example)
-
I compared some Clevo P7XX and P870 they do indeed have the same pinouts! Same for the Alienware M17X R4 (it has a mux switch for the eDP connector unlike Clevo) The backlight pins are universal. I can't confirm if other laptops are compatible with that. Some may have different signals for eDP like not being set for port D... Better find the MXM pinouts diagram for your laptop!

4050,4060,4070 eDP YES only if MXM port is modded. 3060, 3070, 3080 could also work, although they have DP on port D, it'll theorically work. If anyone wants to try, go ahead and do what the picture shows. Developer79 tested this wiring setup and got the 4070 from XVSION to work with his eDP screen. @janepa
-
Hello. Are you sure? I get it, you need pure-UEFI or it won't ever boot. But I saw the schematics for the M17X R4 and I see that eDP is on port D and not C. Where did you find out it was on port C?
-
Hello. Here's a new clear picture. It shows how to do the mod. It's the right one. I checked the datasheet for the RTX 3060/3070/3080 (from X-VSION, probably the same for ZRT). They also lack the backlight pins 23,25,27 and the vbios don't have eDP. Although, they have DP on DP_D. Theorically, if the backlight pins are modded like on the picture I've sent, the DP could be displayed in the eDP screen! I know you 4 guys have the RTX 3060 or 3080 from X-Vsion. If you have an eDP laptop that has signals for DP_D between pins 206 and 236 of the MXM slot, you can try this mod and let us know please! @sliderfra @therhor70 @aldarxt @ssj92

So even, if the vbios states it's DP on DP_D. If I enable the backlight pins, using the mod, the DP signal would be projected on the eDP screen? Despite the vbios not having eDP set for DP_D? -

@Developer79 @sliderfra Hello. I received the datasheet for the RTX 3060/3070/3080 MXM cards from X-VSION. They all have DP out for DP_D. They also all lack the pin 23, 25 and 27! But, are you sure that a DP signal would be compatible for an eDP display? Like, if we enable the backlight pins 23, 25, 27 by modding the MXM port? @sliderfrasince you have an RTX 3060 MXM, do you have a compatible eDP laptop? (Beside Alienware), like a clevo or a HP? So you can test if your 3060 can display on the master slot, "if the DP could display on the screen if the backlight pins are enabled". -

SuperMG replied to ViktorV's topic in Sager & Clevo
I looked at ZRT side, the eDP is on port D and the HDMI on port E. I don't understand X-VSION specs. There's no way you have eDP on port E!! The vbios clearly has eDP because it shows it on the Nvidia control panel. (I have Quadro RTX 3000 + 4090 as slave) @Maro97if you know how to solder, you can go ahead and do the mods. If you want more explanation on the mod, please send me a private message. Thank you. Edit: the 4080 and 4090 aren't even working with my external HDMI and DP out.... But the RTX 4070 and 3060 worked with DP and HDMI out, strange... -

But that's not eDP! It's regular DP on the VBIOS! Although eDP and DP are sharing the same exact 11 signals (without counting the GND) Can a regular DP out with the 23,25,27 pins display on the eDP display? @Developer79
