The AP was only mounted a couple of hours ago but it seems solid, reach is good. The gateway has a 500GB M.2 SSD inside for recordings and I have a test camera hooked up. Seems to be doing good so far. Network is doing a solid 2.5Gb as that's the max speed of things on there, the two NAS boxes I have are read/write at 270-280MB/s.

Either the need to upgrade (running something sucks) or the want to upgrade (new and shiny) have both been reasons for me in the past. Also partly for work since I was representing the shop.

With the cables I think you can go 1 of 2 ways: 1: Build in a large enough safety margin in the cable (Eg a 450-600W card running with the two plugs as per that adaptor). Or 2: Run the cable closer to spec but monitor and control the power balance with safeties. They designed the spec to run under 2 with some overhead on the 30xx series, which is fine. Then they just got lazy and or cheap and or hung up on a small as PCB as possible for flow through/aesthetics (or a combo of all 3). If they picked 1 of these then there would be only the classic numbers of burn outs there have always been with the 8 pins.

I take it we still have no curve on the 9070 series to play with?

Did you plug the 5090 into your computer or did you plug the computer into the GPU? It's funny to think back to my old voodoo 3 3000 and then see this. Also cleaning up the input wave form or even just changing it a bit can impact the harmonics you will get through the different conversions in the system so that's very believable.

EVGA is no longer EVGA really, all the people and money that made it so are gone.

Clean connector is fine, they just needed to balance the wires like they did to start with the 3090 and with a warning if it got to unbalanced to plug the cable back in or replace it.

Those judges were appointed by Bush and Trump and the republican members of the FTC voted against it. The 8th circuit is predominantly republican IIRC. The rulings of those judges have notably been anti LGBT, anti union and on the whole conservative leaning. So very strongly right leaning in this case.

Yeah but that's like saying I tuned my 5L V8 engine and got more than a whole 1.0L 3 cylinder eco boost out of it.

Normally with shunt modding my concern is the VRMs but in this case it's the connector 😄

It's hard to really lay anything down on a fully sold out market. AMD ran through their stock as did Nvidia. I got mine at MSRP and have found the drivers much better for my use case.

We will see, whatever your views the proof will be in the eating on that one. There is some execution detection going on and self limiting going on with certain instruction inputs.

Decent cooler/Voltage tweak/fan curve tweak gets them into safe levels. I run a slight undervolt and then a power reduction that keeps me around stock performance levels for a boat load less power which is nice at the moment.

The rumour is this month and last month is a price lul with stock brought in before tariffs, then as that dries up as we go into back to school and christmas prices will rise again and could a fair amount.

Given the nature of the small SSD and it being solid storage based rather than a hard drive (where you can get magnetic echoes and have space that may never have been overwritten) I think it's unlilkely you would get anything back.

It's more there is not volume inside for air to flow around them so they go from being heatsinks to thermal mass that just traps the heat.

The mobile 3080ti core just can't scale either due to the reduced ROP count for it's size or memory bandwidth compared to the mobile 3080 core at the power levels of the 3080 mobile even shunt modded. A 3080 mobile with the 0.9v voltage limit raised in the 210W range IMO would still make more sense power/performance wise.

Picked up the NAS on the left for pretty cheap 2nd hand and repaired the one on the right from work. Left one will backup the right one, need to scrounge some disks for that, the primary will be the 3x12TB in raid 5 and a 500GB SSD for the OS.
