Im not a fan of RPG games nor i've played any Soul's game before but i gotta say this, The fake outrage about Elden Ring's difficulty level from so called game journalists all weekend made me laugh my ass off and it kinda makes me wanna buy the game to try it out and support them for catering to their fan base instead of certain woke groups. I like games with a difficult learning curve as i grew up during the time when games was tough to beat

Gaming Laptop 1800cad or less no restrictions
KING19 replied to ryan's topic in What Laptop Should I Buy?
You're not going to find a RTX 3080 laptop at that price range. Correct me if i am wrong but isnt 1800 cad is around $1400 USD? if so then thats the average price of a RTX 3060 laptop which your OMEN is. I dont know what type of performance you are looking for but you should keep your OMEN because an RTX 3060 can handle every game out there currently plus you're going to be paying a lot more for an RTX 3080 laptop. Another thing if you go thinner you're gonna get a lower wattage version of a GPU that'll have less performance than the full wattage version. -
The static/artifacts is a sign that your GPU is dying, I would ask did you do any overclocking on it but its too far gone Other signs of a dying GPU is Windows failing to detect your GTX 1070 and failed installations when installing any NVIDIA driver. Unfortunately there nothing you can do about it. The laptop will work without the NVIDIA GPU because of the Intel IGP being used as your display(Optimus)

Microsoft isnt the same company anymore, those days are done. They were many serious bugs with Windows Updates on Windows 10 in the past and its still an issue today. Windows 11 is still brand new and its going to have a lot of bugs in it and this why i always suggested users not to upgrade to a new OS in the first year.

I wish screenshot my profile but I registered on NBR around 2008 after lurking for several months in 2007 and i only joined NBR because i was having overheating problems with a HP DV5 and i needed help to solve it.

Im glad i got my wish that the NBR community will no longer be split into 3 different forums and hopefully they'll join here so we can all be in one place!. Also its almost been a month since NBR was closed 😑

What phone are you daily driving currently?
KING19 replied to Katja's topic in Mobile Devices & Gadgets
Samsung Galaxy A20. I been thinking about buying a new phone because its starting to show its age especially the storage since its only 32GBs and it slows down often when multitasking, I been thinking about going with a Google Pixel 5 or 6 or a OnePlus type phone. I want to break away from Samsung as my last 2 phones were Samsung Galaxys, At this point i wouldnt mind going with a IPhone. -
My reaction of Windows 12... Its better than blindly defending the OS and accepting everything about it. Its not whining when you backup your criticisms with facts Also Windows 10 should of stayed as the last Windows OS as planned.

This. I understand soldering the CPU and GPU on laptops somewhat because laptops are already pretty limited compared to a desktop. Hell about 95%+ people never heard of MXM plus MXMs are pretty expensive and cost higher than a normal desktop GPU because there barely a market for them. But soldering RAM, WIFI, and even SSDs is still shady to me and i blame Apple for making these trends mainstream especially with Internal batteries. RAM, SSDs and WIFI cards dont take much space even on thin and light laptops. They're pretty much the only upgrades we can do on a laptop.

That's good news!. I probably can run the game on Ultra getting 60FPS+ on my 1660ti laptop if i decide to finally buy the game.

Everyone, its time to decide our brand!
KING19 replied to Reciever's topic in Internal Announcement Discussion
I went with NotebookTalk since it was the better option. But i also liked NBRforums.com that Samir mentioned -
I didnt know where to post this but this article on notebookcheck is interesting and it mentions some truths about bad trends with mainstream laptops that we been discussing on NBR for years. https://www.notebookcheck.net/4-controversial-laptop-trends-that-should-never-have-made-it-mainstream.599710.0.html Here's some trends that should of been in the article IMO Soldiered on RAM, and WIFI especially on thin and light laptops Laptop webcams still on 720p in 2022... No separate touchpad buttons. Personally i always hated clickpads and after using them for years my opinion on them hasnt changed.

What should I buy? Dell Precision 7740 vs Asus Strix G512L
KING19 replied to luisxd's topic in General Discussion
The Dell Precision 7740 by far and its perfect for those tasks. The Asus Strix G512L is a gaming laptop and it wont be right for a architect especially with its RGB lighting everywhere plus its build quality will be worse. Also the Dell Precision 7740 is a steal even though its 2 years old the price is hard to beat with those specs for a workstation and normally workstation laptops with specs like that will cost over $2000+, Also the CPU will be fine so dont worry. -
No and i'll never will unless i buy a new desktop/laptop later down the line. Until then im sticking with 10

I agree. I cant blame him for scrapping it

What have you upgraded on your current laptop(s)?
KING19 replied to Sandy Bridge's topic in Components & Upgrades
I dont think so There is a option in the BIOS to disable the battery completely when i want to open up the laptop and afterwards i would have to plug in the AC adapter afterwards. Besides that the battery works normally even on Lenovo Vantage. Its hard to get a Battery from Lenovo directly but even some people had problems with them too, I given up on it for now. -
What have you upgraded on your current laptop(s)?
KING19 replied to Sandy Bridge's topic in Components & Upgrades
I installed my old HDD from my old HP Envy on my Legion 5 after i bought it but after a year i upgraded it with a 1TB m.2 NVMe SSD, I also tried to upgrade the battery from the 60Wh version to the 80Wh version twice but it didnt work out and one of the batteries i was allowed to keep after getting full refunds, The battery works and charges normally but i cant boot up my laptop on battery without plugging in the AC Adapter. I might buy another one soon but this time with a 3rd party battery instead testing my luck with Lenovo Genuine batteries -
I was already aware of NBR closing thanks to Charles I was posting on NBR days before the closure and made a few posts about it especially my complaint that the community was split into 3 different forums instead of 1 single forum. I copied and pasted the links of them on notepad and i joined here when i had some free time. I tried going on Notebook-review.com but its down for some reason.

I havent been gaming much lately but i finally finished Rise of the Tomb Raider and i might start Shadow next. But now i started playing Mafia: Definitive Edition. Awesome game so far and i wish i played the original game when i was a kid. Also Rockstar should of taken notes of how to create a real Definitive Edition!.

Im late to the party I went on NBR on Monday at work and i saw the forums was gone, It still sad losing of what the community built for 2 decades. Wish i was more enthusiastic of writing more about it but im glad the NBR community lives on!
