  1. With Windows 12 coming out sometime in 2024 it'll finally break the cycle 😄 https://www.xda-developers.com/windows-12/ Microsoft is no longer the same company they used to be.
  2. I didnt think DCH drivers will work the LTSC version of Win 10 since it doesnt have MS store. The Nvidia control panel is needed in order to use optimus but the Lenovo Legions uses a MUX switch so you can keep Optimus disabled by having Hybrid mode off without relying on the CP and also it'll disable the AMD IGPU drivers if you have them installed.
  3. I was already thinking about not buying GTA VI because Rockstar is no longer the same company as before because of their actions for the last few years especially milking GTA Online to death and the failure of the remastered GTA trilogy and censoring certain jokes in the latest update of GTA V, but now im really not buying GTA VI as my favorite game series is now destroyed by the woke cult who most likely dont play GTA. I dont mind a female protagonist but cutting out offensive jokes in a game series that makes fun of everyone and everything makes no sense because the offensive jokes and vulgar is part of the main formula of the entire series plus the game will be dull as hell. Its kinda funny though, committing violence to everyone including cops is ok but offensive jokes crosses the line........ Also calling the main character a female hero where everyone is a criminal in the GTA world lol.
  4. Personally its best to stick with the stock NVIDIA Lenovo drivers in your case because you're not missing anything with the newer drivers. Since you're using Win 10 1809 LTSC you're going to have issues with the DCH crap since NVIDIA no longer releases any NON-DCH drivers anymore, Also newer isnt always better as the last past Nvidia drivers caused the MUX on Lenovo Legions to break. Besides you're already using a version of win 10 that is outdated but it doesnt have the crap like telemetry, windows store, useless apps, and other crapware installed so using the outdated stock drivers shouldnt hurt.
  5. Dont most gaming laptops supports USB-C charging now?. With that you can easily leave the large power brick at home. You may cant play games on it but at least you can charge it away from home. Personally i dont understand complaints about the large power bricks, You're buying a gaming laptop which arent exactly portable and if people want true portability a non gaming laptop is the best choice as Thin and Light as they want!. Companies need to stop being like Apple already!.
  6. Yea true lol. I just checked my ambient temps again and now its around 27.7C (82F) with our AC off. There been no changes with my laptop temps so the paste is fine and i dont feel like repasting again, It isnt like its throttling or anything during gaming and my fans are clean. Cyberpunk and GTA V are the only games i've played that spiked into the 90Cs, Not even RDR2 does that. We're going through another heatwave after going through rainy and humid weather last week.
  7. Im sure most of you heard the news about this but still its worth posting because its a sh*t move by Ubisoft and affect those who still plays Far Cry 3 and the Assassin Creed games. https://www.ign.com/articles/ubisoft-to-shut-down-multiplayer-and-online-services-for-15-games-in-september-2022 Btw it includes single player DLCs as well not just Multiplayer DLCs. Basically its taking away DLCs that customers bought and paid for.
  8. Not a surprise from Take Two. They been threatening to sue the Modding community for years especially when the GTA Trilogy remastered was released.
  9. That's a steal there for a 2022 Legion 5 Pro!.
  10. Yea you're right. Like i said its been hot and humid here lately because its summer, Damn east coast weather. We have an AC in our apartment but its off for most of the day because me and my GF are at work for most of the day. In my last gaming session the temps are still the same so i dont think its the paste itself anymore but we'll see after another week. It rained here for the last couple of days but the air is still humid. Our ambient temps is around 80f (26.6C) with the AC off but drops down to 74F (23.C) after running it for a couple of hours.
  11. I would suggest you to open the laptop and then blow out the dust out of your laptop because blowing just the air vents will only blow the dust deep into the laptop. Clean the fan blades with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol (70% or higher). If that dont lower your temps than its the paste itself. Incase you do a repaste you gonna need rubbing alcohol anyways to wipe off the old paste. A lot OEMs uses a very cheap paste as their stock paste besides Lenovo that uses Honeywell 7950 which is better than a lot of thermal pastes in the market.
  12. Small update on Honeywell 7950SP paste: It started to degrade somewhat because i did a run with cinebench and the CPU temps went as high as 98C at the max and while playing cyberpunk 2077 it hangs around the upper 70Cs to low 80Cs with spikes up to 91c. Other games stays around the 70c range with spikes to the upper 80Cs at times. I think because its cured now and plus its officially summer here on the east coast so its been hot and humid lately. Personally im not going to worry about it until i see 100C temps while playing GTA V or even American Truck Simulator like last time. Btw my GPU temps remains in the upper 60c's so no change there
  13. This^ Gaming laptops are considered consumer based laptops no matter expensive, They dont have the same quality and durability as workstation/business laptops. OEMs always treat their business laptops a lot better especially in features, security, warranty and customability.
  14. This tool is better than Vantage by far because you can also customize more things than what Vantage currently do. You can also set certain actions when you connect/disconnect the AC adapter automatically which is something i been looking for
  15. That's very brutal results especially in 4k which im not surprised then again 4K is a waste on a laptop anyways. Also the desktop High end GPUs uses GDDR6x unlike the laptop high end GPUs. Im still surprised that the 3070ti and 3080ti doesnt use GDDR6X at least. What a missed opportunity Personally i dont expect laptop GPUs will ever keep pace with desktop GPUs, The gap will keep expanding every generation with laptop GPUs being stuck at 175W. I agree. I said this in another thread that its barely a market for it anymore and that OEM's will cater to causals instead of enthusiasts because it'll make them more money. Same goes with T&L gaming laptops which have terrible heat management and soldiered components.
  16. I expected at least 200w for the laptop version but that too much to ask it seems like. The Laptop versions will keep getting neutered while the desktop versions will keep getting more powerful increasing the gap between them. Its very doubtful that OEMs will make power bricks over 330W in order to handle a higher wattage laptop GPU because it'll lose its portability and it'll make more sense to buy a desktop instead. Back then you'll have to use 2 powerbricks in order to handle it or it'll power throttle. Sadly the days of socketed GPUs are over unless you get a workstation.
  17. Yea, having 99% sRGB is great for professional image work
  18. MSI Titan GT77 Full Review Before it was a good reason to futureproof a laptop but now its kinda pointless. A Ryzen 7 and Intel i7 CPU will last for several years and its doubtful that future generations will improve performance that much. As for GPUs it depends if you're going to play games on 1080p, QHD, or 4K which is a waste on a laptop imo. A RTX 3060 GPU will last for several years especially with DLSS and FSR which a lot of games use these days. By the time you need to upgrade your laptop it'll will be on its last legs through years of use and abuse. Back then the average BGA gaming laptop will last about 2-3 years because the GPU can no longer handle the latest games anymore and it was the main reason why true DTR laptops exists including MXM and LGA CPUs. But now its barely a market for it anymore so ofc OEMs will cater to causals instead of enthusiasts because it'll make them more money I am against T&L laptops because they cant handle heat much especially when they're stuffed with a powerful CPU and GPU and plus having soldiered basic components like RAM, WIFI and SSD. Also in a couple of years they will overheat and die.
  19. I'll suggest the ASUS Zephryus 14 since its one of the best 14" inch gaming laptops in the market.
  20. As expected in the laptop sector https://www.notebookcheck.net/Nvidia-Lovelace-AD102-RTX-4090-to-have-800-W-power-limit-laptop-variants-tamed-at-175-W-could-result-in-wide-performance-deltas-compared-to-desktop.629527.0.html We have been speculating that Nvidia's upcoming Lovelace generation of GPUs would have higher power consumption than Ampere. Rumors so far suggested that the upcoming flagship RTX 4090 based on the AD102 GPU may have power consumption pushing past 700 W or even 850 W. Nvidia will offer both desktop and mobile variants of Lovelace, and now we are getting to know what could be their likely power targets. This information comes via @kopite7kimi on Twitter who has been quite accurate for the most part when it comes to GPU leaks. The Lovelace lineup will have GPU offerings starting from AD102, which is the flagship chip, all the way down to AD106. AD102 is expected to have a mind-boggling 800 W power limit, which obviously means it will not make it to laptop form factors. This is not unlike what we've seen with Ampere wherein the top-end RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU was based on GA103 and not GA102. GPUs from AD103 onwards will come in both desktop and mobile variants. While the desktop AD103 will have a maximum power limit of 450 W, the mobile version will be capped at 175 W similar to the RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU. AD104 is touted to have a power limit of 400 W on the desktop but will be restricted to 175 W on mobile. This is a good uplift from what we've seen with the RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU, which has a TGP of 150 W (125 W TDP and 25 W Dynamic Boost). Finally, AD106 will have a power limit of 260 W on the desktop but will work at 140 W in laptops. The RTX 3060 Laptop GPU offers a range of TDPs from 60 W to 115 W, but it is interesting to know that its successor can be pushed all the way to 140 W. We do not have power limits for AD107 yet. A point worth noting here is that these figures are maximum power limits for a particular GPU and not actual TDP or TGP figures. These numbers serve to indicate as to how much a GPU can be pushed under the right cooling and overclocking conditions. They also give us an indication of what could be the extent of a momentary spike in power consumption under load. The RTX 4090 cards are thought to hover around 600 W TGP. However, a more recent spec leak puts the RTX 4090's TGP at around 450 W, which is still a good 100 W higher than the RTX 3090's 350 W rating. The mobile Lovelace cards look to be using similar power limits as the current Ampere generation. The wide power limit gap between corresponding desktop and laptop Lovelace SKUs indicates that the performance delta between them could be huge. Having said that, pushing Lovelace any higher than 175 W would probably require large investments into chassis and cooling redesign R&D, which is unlikely a near-term goal for most OEMs. Some Alder Lake HX laptops are pushing a combined 250 W from both the CPU and the GPU already. That being said, the increased CUDA core counts and other specifications should still lend a good performance uplift with Lovelace mobile, but it is too early to speculate.
  21. Internet Explorer is officially dead. Enjoy the memes!
  22. I posted about this laptop in my thread but again this is worst than a soldiered CPU/GPU because it make upgradeability very difficult to do because you would have to remove the motherboard to do so. Thin and light gaming laptops are already bad enough but add inverted motherboards to that with soldiered components and you're pretty much screwed.
  23. Its been the trend for laptops for years now. Most OEM's been copying Apple trying to be as thin as possible and having every component to be soldiered to the motherboard. Professional companies often use business type laptops which are much better than consumer based laptops, Better durability, better warranty and not to mention their features as well. Dont expect any consumer based laptops to receive the same treatment as business type laptops. Here another controversial laptop trend that hasnt been mentioned yet. Inverted motherboards!. To me its worse than a soldiered CPU/GPU because its makes upgradeability very difficult to do because you would have to remove the motherboard to do so. Dell been doing this with their Alienware series. Example: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Acer-Predator-Triton-500-SE-review-Slim-gaming-laptop-with-RTX-3080-Ti-and-Alder-Lake.627537.0.html
  24. Update on Honeywell 7950SP Well after a month of using the paste the temps started to spike up to 97C when playing GTA V and when i ran cinebench it went as high as 100C so i decided repaste again, I wish i took pictures of what it looked like but i was in a rush but setting the paste and letting the heatsink to spread the paste kinda fail as there was some bare spots on the cpu die so this time i decided to spread the paste myself but again this paste is pretty thick so even using the spatula was hard to spread so i used my finger to do it with the finger glove that came with the package. It was kinda messy but i managed to spread it to completely cover my CPU and GPU die. I expected bad results but i was wrong i ended up having better temps this time lol. I did back to back runs on cinebench and here the results. I also played cyberpunk 2077 for 15 mins and the temps stayed cool. Mid 70c's on the CPU and upper 60c's on my overclocked 1660ti. Hopefully this time i wont have to do another repaste anytime soon and after being a guinea pig with the paste version i would recommend of getting the pad version instead.
  25. It shouldnt been made in the first place because the trilogy ended almost 20 years ago but then again money trumps all i guess. Also the main actors who played Morpheus (Lawrence Fishbrune) and Agent Smith (Hugo Weaver) didnt want to be part of it. Yeah it currently has a 5.7 on IMDB atm and i think i know the reason why and its a big spoiler. Anyways the first movie is the best of the trilogy, the second one had a lot of action/fighting scenes and the third one was kinda boring but it closed the trilogy the right way because it ended the war and Neo fulfilled his destiny.
