Personally i dont see it as a a big deal because no application is going to make the CPU/GPU run at their maximum wattage at the same time besides stress tests. Laptop's power bricks are already limited to 330w i think, anymore wattage it'll require having a second power brick like in the past. At that point you mind well buy a desktop instead and save money. I still dont like MSI's false advertising about it like its a new thing......

You can also try monitoring your temps while running cinebench to see if your CPU is throttling due to overheating and lift up the back of your laptop to provide better airflow instead of laying it flat on a table. -
^Nice The Legion 7 most likely will be the best gaming laptop of the year and worth its price. Looking forward to the full review!.

Its hard to say because there not much info about the paste version even on reddit. All i heard about it that it has a cure time but it doesnt seem to be the case in my testing. It feels like im the only one who tried out the paste version. I did some quick tests today It went to 92C when i first started the test because the fans wasnt running on max speeds but then it hangs around 87-90C during the test so i think the paste works pretty well on my Legion 5. The only game i tested so far was Mafia Definition Edition which constantly goes into the mid 90c range and at times up to 103C before the repaste using SYY-157 but after repasting with Honeywell 7950SP it stays in the 70c range and spikes as high as 86C which is a massive improvement for me. I'll try out other games like RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077 later. Overall i think the paste is great so far and I'll post more updates when i can. Also if you guys wanna give them a try here the links: Paste Version: https://www.ebuy7.com/item/641009621899 Pad Version: https://www.ebuy7.com/item/632208664079

Sadly its the latest trend with laptops, The days of big and thick laptops are over. They're going keep getting thinner and thinner every year and people will keep buying them and later complain why their gaming laptops are overheating and later in the future asking why they cant upgrade their RAM, Wifi and storage drives anymore.... Even thin and light 16-17" desktop replacement laptops will throttle like crazy because they cant handle the heat especially with powerful Intel and AMD CPUs. We enthusiasts only represent a small minority of PC consumers these days so companies are going to cater to the lowest common denominator.. -
Good find. I wonder what the prices will be, Most likely insanely expensive especially for the Intel version.. I noticed they're using a 1080p webcam which is about damn time. Sucks that the AMD version is not using Thunderbolt 4/USB 4...

Yes i am from the US and I'll keep that in mind. It sucked using my old laptop trying to finish my work project because it's pretty slow and i havent reinstalled windows 8.1 in years on it. Also my GF's laptop is slower than that and she really needs a new one, I'll surprise her on her birthday later this year. I got the charger on Tuesday so everything is good. Nearly finished my work project just putting the finishing touches on it.

Finally bought Cyberpunk 2077 It was on sale for $29.99 on steam for 2 weeks i think

Agreed... I think the ending was pretty weird Anyways i rewatched The Equalizer, its still a very good movie that i can watch over and over, Same goes for the John Wick series. I cant wait for Chapter 4 next March 😄

He was fine without the massive overclock of his RTX 3060's memory. 1900+ is way behind a normal overclock. Like i said earlier not even the desktop version can reach a overclock value that like that without crashing. I dont want him to fry his GPU prematurely Still reaching over 9000 in timespy with a 115w RTX 3060 is still pretty impressive without the massive overclock. I think his Omen has a MUX switch which he can disable optimus to gain more performance in games with the sacrifice of battery life. Nah there isnt. The Lenovo Legions, Dell's G15s and i think some of MSI and ASUS gaming laptops uses it. -

He has the 115W version while the record holder as the full 130W version. The Wattage makes a difference in performance -

Thats a very high memory overclock, Im surprised that your laptop hasnt crashed yet. I think you should backoff the memory overclock before you end up frying your GPU prematurely, Not even the desktop version can reach a overclock value that like that. Its doubtful that your score will get any higher -

"Sadly people who cares about maxing out every game out there are the reason why GPUs are overpriced as hell and that was before covid hit." Im not sure of how me saying that ended up causing a serious/political discussion here. Maybe i am old school but i always think that GPUs are overpriced as hell compared of what they used to be 10 years ago. That was before Trump, Tariffs and covid happened and back then PC gaming was slowly dying. Anyways we've proven that we can have serious discussions without resorting to petty attacks and kept it peaceful and it how it should be. Despite with all the crazy stuff that been happening in the world right now we still have each other to rely on and talk about tech stuff together to get away from it all. Its one of the main reasons why we stayed on NBR for many years. Call it our safe space! 😆 -

GPU prices was already overpriced as far back as 2013 if you wanted an high end GPU. Also stores normally charge a higher price than the MSRP to make a profit for obvious reasons, its the same rule for every product in the world and its what i based my pricing on. Fast forward to 2020 Covid caused problems with the supply lines. When you have a product with a low supply and high demand the price will go way up because its very hard to get, that what caused the GPU shortage, Companies barely had any workers because of the lockdowns and ofc places who had an RTX 2080 or even a RTX 3080 was charging crazy prices for them including scaplers. GPU prices are dropping now because the supply lines are slowly getting back to normal and the world is ready to move on from covid, it has nothing to do with tariffs like the media says. If we have a supply issue again with GPUs expect the prices of GPUs will go back up especially with inflation going on now. Anyways lets get back on topic: -

Not that i know of but then again i dont play MP games like that anymore but when i did play, gamers would lower their settings to low on purpose to get as much FPS as possible to gain an advantage even when their PCs can easily run them on max settings among with other factors like latency issues, lag, rubberbanding and etc. Like i said its noticeable on fast paced games for example e-sports type games like PUBG, Valorant, COD Warzone, CSGO and so on. Also its the reason why high refresh screens are very popular with gamers. Sorry but blaming tariffs and our former president is just a terrible excuse because GTX 1080s including the Ti version cost nearly $1000 back in 2016 in most stores. Also the Titan GPUs cost over $1000 as far back as 2013. In other words high end GPUs always been overpriced before covid hit compared to midrange GPUs which cost half the price of high end GPUs. -

Its noticeable on fast paced games for example e-sports type games like PUBG, Valorant, COD Warzone, CSGO and so on Also playing games on maxed out settings is great if you've the right hardware but in most cases its pointless because there isnt much of a difference in graphics between high and ultra settings. You're losing a lot of FPS for nothing and this have been proven over and over Sadly people who cares about maxing out every game out there are the reason why GPUs are overpriced as hell and that was before covid hit. -
My Legion 5 charger died on me while it was charging, The wire started to smoke and caused a spark and nearly severed the wire. Luckily my laptop wasnt damaged nor a fire was started in my home. Good thing i extended my warranty when i did otherwise i would be paying over $100 for a new charger..... Lenovo is sending me a replacement charger but it wont be here until later this week, its bad timing because i have a work project i need to finish and my old HP Envy laptop barely works anymore... 😡

Thanks for the info!. Hopefully i made the right choice going with the paste version instead of the sheet (Pad) version. There isnt much talk about the paste version on reddit but If this paste is good as people say then it might be the best thermal paste for gaming laptops with good longevity after a few years

Yea it is strange. I rolled back to 20H2 last night but the same problem still happens and i figured out the problem, It turns out to be a hardware issue with my battery, I recently purchased another 80WH battery this past week from Amazon after the last 2 80wh batteries i bought from 2 other sources were defective and this one charges way too fast with fast charging off like 60watts like i have it on and with fast charging on it would charge over 100watts which it way beyond normal and also it would throttle at times when playing games because of it, They're shipping me a replacement battery and should be here sometime this week. I'll try 21H2 again after that i think.
-
Im sure most of you know that Microsoft forced users to install 21H2 this week on Windows update because i was still using 20H2 and unfortunately i was one of its victims. The update itself only took about 3-5 mins to install which to me its strange but anyways after the update my laptop started being unstable, at first i thought everything will be fine without doing a clean install because it was a small update like 21H1 i think but my laptop is running hotter in games even games like American Truck Simulator and at times when plugging in the AC Adapter my CPU will lock at 2.8GHz and i would have to put my laptop on standby and start it again to get it back to normal clock speeds. There are other issues im noticing as well but im not completely sure. Anyone have these issues after the upgrade? I really dont want to reinstall windows but i will if have to.
