to give you an idea how loud the cooler is at 78db a train horn is around 110db. I think i'll pass on the upgrade as I find the iets gt500 already too loud. I can hear it as I type, it sounds like an air conditioner on my desk.

all power supplies likely run hot. Hp laptops have the least problems out of all the manufactures that iv'e tried. I have literally had 0 issues with hardware since iv'e had this laptop(2 years) its built like the clevo tanks from the 2000s. I would never buy anything but HP or lenovo in 2023 moving forward. I think alot of the problems with laptops and people complaining about issues is the users fault, I have been running max fans max power and taxing the system almost 24/7 and with a 140w vbios instead of the stock 115w vbios and it doesn't even flinch. I think getting a bigger power supply is a bad idea because its not designed to handle 300w of power in mind. I think im happy with 9700 in timespy for a 3060 it puts me in the top 1 percent of all 3060s even desktop.

yeah its like 78db lol. guy says even with headphones its a problem. haha might be a better idea using a leaf blower with duct tape.

I called hp, looks like its locked out/only way is to take it to a service center. Also when benchmarking do you have your nvidia control panel settings set to performance selections or quality, I find it can make a big difference changing to performance but in game looks terrible. I think having quality settings and getting a good score mixed with low temps is more practical/ cpu max temps 65c gpu max temps 64c gaming settings and overclock, I can use this for gaming and everything is set to quality/ 11800h at 4.2ghz stock' gpu overclocked to 150/280 cpu overclocked 200 mhz 4.4ghz temps are alot higher, gpu is safe cpu tops out at 97c but during gaming would be in the upper 70s so this is the max speed I can run my system, also AF is set to 16x and texture filtering set to high quality. it will look and play good.

Thanks, the ghelper app need asus acpi??not sure what that is or where to get it, and for some reason i cant uninstall all the asus malware surely this is a joke. @cylix its for a asus strix keyboard that I want to smash. I had a perfect install of windows untill asus guided me through installing this garbage. I called the main line to see if i could get a proper link to the software and he led me to the same crap. ill use g helper if it works for the strix flare keyboard otherwise ill have to buy a new keyboard, the other app that was referenced didnt have profiles like light effects, i want my keyboard to have all the features otherwise like before im just setting it to white and counting my losses -

Do any of you fellas use amoury crate? for some reason my download link leads me to malware it installs a bunch of bogus programs and when I uninstall its in chinese. surely amoury crate can be installed without all of this junk. can someone post a direct link to amoury crate download. thanks alot -
My temps have been abnormally low 47c on gpu and cpu with a undervolt on both. thats after 5 hours of steady gaming mind you I had framerate locked to 30. I find in most games locking framerate to 30 the expereince is still great/smooth its just when you bounce from 30-60fps that it feels sluggish. at any rate I think im going to just leave my laptop on stock clocks and settings and or undervolt and call it a day. im getting a bigger performance boost from the newest drivers over my overclocks. I think at the end of the day overclocking on these 2k-4k gpus and 11th-14th gen cpus really has no tangible benifit but it is fun chasing top scores. just beat 9500 gpu in timespy im doing good. temps are not touching 65c @1610ftw do you know of any ways to overclock ram on a omen 16?

I think buying a higher quality sample is worth it if you care about maxing your system, and if the premium is reasonable(5-10 percent) but as bro@Mr. Fox mentioned in a short period of time there will be something new to blow it out of the water. I went with a 3060 because I planned on 1080p gaming and knew i'd skip 4k no matter how good it was, now im doing 4k gaming and the only thing that makes sense is putting up with low settings or dlss and just riding it out till the 6ks are released because on laptops we are not there yet And I doubt the 5k series will be able to do 4k/60 or higher on new AAA games if starfield is anything to go by. on a more positive note after what felt like forever I finally cracked 9500 gpu score with my turdbook. 9700 overall I suppose considering I can't overclock the ram and am power limited its a pretty nice score. one thing I wonder is why when I get my highest timespy score yet my firestirke ultra score is lower than usual. there doesn't seem to be any consistancy with 3dmark. https://imageupload.io/en/QGgdcU4GSH6LYRS -
230w, i could try downclocking cpu like you mentioned, papusan also suggested that a while back. my cpu wont lock though hp has wonky bioses, i cant even overclock my ram. i think at this point its futile. in alot of games im around 55fps so the overclock might actually have a use with vsync set to 60fps.

Im not trolling, but out of like 15 laptops iv'e owned I only had to change the thermal paste twice, and the performance of the old paste was the same as new. I don't know how its possible for thermal paste to stop working but it must happen iv'e just yet to experience it in 20 years of gaming. right now my temps with vsync are around 58c so i guess i wont be pasting my gpu cpu anytime soon. im tempted to get the phase change pads from buy7.com but i doubt i will see a drop as dramatic as my new iets gt500

a must watch to give you an idea

@1610ftwif my temps are good and ive tweaked OS, I get 9480 gpu in timespy, I was under the impression im bottlenecked by ram and power, what other causes could their be that prevent me from breaking the elusive 10k. I know a fair amount about laptops but anyone can miss a thing or two

yeah its crazy stuff. i always have to break it down to millions in my head to see just how massive the scandle is. 10 000 million. i wont lie, if i had the opportunity to net 10 000 million id probably give it a go, but i wouldn't do it if mam and paps people were getting screwed. i dont mind ripping pennies from big companies but sometimes the risk is worth it. money and health is all that matters when you have the basics including friends/family

dumb rant. edited\ In short I hope more products are engineered and made in USA and canada. -
I don't know about ted bundy but this reminds me of ENRON. the system creates fraud opportunities that people take to control the masses with topics to distract us from the truth

haha, yeah I hear it running now its competing with my wall air conditioner unit for the loudest sound in apt. very loud but works, i dont think ill upgrade it to see 65c vs 69c. 5c just isn't going to help in benchmarking or gaming. also im officially done with gaming desktops/laptops as geforce now is the future and its good enough for my needs. @ciswhat's your temps vs gt500

they have a free 1080p to check out. its alot better than most people expect. its not your typical video image

when I bought the subscription and no longer had to wait and was designated a 2080 I thought this is good but will I be able to game without lag, and how will it look. well I didn't get the 4k version but on my chromebook it was razor sharp and when testing forza iv'e come in first place twice with very good response times. what put me in a good mood is my internet has 100ms of latency and geforce now has 20-60ms i was thinking that the experience would be mediocre. just knocked my socks off. yes linux and mac would work well with it, even though it works well with average internet latency i'd still only recommend it with fast internet(low ping)/high bandwidth >100mbs

passed on the quest 3 this month. I just picked up a x360 chromebook by HP from best buy. mainly for geforce now gaming, just got a subscription to geforce now and I'm blown away, nearly instant loading and now its just as though my chromebook has a 2080 desktop in it. the image quality for the service has gotten so good over 5 years I not only was blown away but it astonished me that the lag is now offically gone, I noticed 0 input lag, it is so low that only the sharpest of people would notice it in a game like starfield or forza motorsport. I did the big test of trying forza to see how I fared in a race and I came in first and noticed no drawbacks, im never buying a desktop/laptop with a dgpu ever again, there is literally no reason unless a AAA game comes out that is not on geforce now I see no reason why!!

I heard the iets gt626 just has a bigger fan and runs at a lower speed so less noise, same performance less noise, care to share a comparison

incoming, going to post a bunch of starfield pics of some exploration. I think if you set your expectations low its not hard getting lost in this game, just pretending your on a different world can be enough to bring up your mood and increase your imagination.
