  1. ive loaded a game onto ram before using ramdisk. it was faster but the biggest improvement in snappiness for me has been atlas os being properly installed it was so fast that i didnt get the chance to blink before a program loaded. general use it was impressive, if this vivobook had 2 ssd slots id have it on one and stock on another. btw have you heard of de crapifier? im having great success with it i had about 230-280 processes in the background and ran chis tituses extreme windows tweaks along with it and the processes dropped to 80 and its not even a modified windows it has the store and all the apps and functionality but it was extremely fast im still experimenting with tweaks but somehow someway atlas os just feels years ahead.
  2. @seanwee I was thinking of making a process minimizing tut for nbt showing people an easy way to get cpu and ram usage down without disabling vital services and apps like windows store and calculator security ect. one thing I will say is ive had a big improvement on my battery life like 45min extra after lowering processes. I went from 260 to 90 with chrome/spotify/battery bar and throttlestop open. just let me know if you can help make one it will attract more people to nbt and add to its library of useful content as that will decide if it survives or not I use this powershell launched app and selct laptop under tweaks tab and apply that irm christitus.com/win | iex then use de crapifier. https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/148624-how-to-clean-up-a-single-windows-10-machine-image-using-decrapifier tuts on both one click optimization and i would skip the tweaking of OS with ntlite or mstoolkit as processes difference without is like 4 processes so in the end not worth the trouble for rookies. and optional i highly recommend skipping this as if you selct extreme and apply you will ruin your install. but is safe with tweaked and safe settings https://www.sordum.org/8637/easy-service-optimizer-v1-2/ note you can change the xbox services to auto/manual with the settings just goto properties and change it doing those 3 simple one button click tweaks with a copy paste you will drop from 260-down to 70 without ridding anything
  3. oh your not old. I remember gta 1 and 2 in school i think i was in grade 7 or 8. was fun going to the computer room and messing around. who needs school right. i think i turned out just fine picking gta over education when i was young. lol. joking oh the pain
  4. Woah. Learn something new each day. Have you ever used one? Real world usage would you see a snappiness improvement
  5. Read just above my post. He's tacitly implying breakthrough ai has been out less than a year. All good. Was just pointing out Deductive reasoning is just as important as thinking. One thing I will say is if something is implied we should use our brains to figure it out
  6. Ai was started in the 1950s generative ai has been around for ages. I personally have been using ai like Hal since 2000. Its more advanced now but with like anything time is of essence. Humans are creating ai and their will always be the human factor. I don't see why you and many others think this is new.
  7. i had high expectations. I was expecting gta v level graphics and less density bigger size. looks like they are going the route I was not expecting. looks super dense and detailed and witha great story as usual. incredible im super excited.
  8. optane 1.6tb thats even a thing? why would you buy optane when memory and ssd prices are low. that would mean you need to speed up your hdd which next to noone buys these days. games require a ssd nowadays
  9. 16tb holy smokes now thats an amount i would never need. i tap out at 5 tb with every game installed-300 plus and pron movies. literally would have no idea what to do with 16tb but would jump on one if it was closer to 400 bucks
  10. It's been a few years. And the decepticons have not taken over. I think we're safe. For now
  11. Insomnium doesn't seem like a band a French person would listen to
  12. when its mini led or oled you can nearly instantly tell due to the inky blacks or contrast. I don't see in the pictures how its misinterpreted. but yeah interesting laptop for sure. I just got a vivobook oled and having an oled display in a game changer, I personally wont buy anything non oled now. the gains visually are just that big
  13. ineteresting, but the nanometer process and efficiency plays a role. the 3060 should be more effecient so yeah it should be doing better than a 2080. I don't know if the cuda cores in the 2080 are more effective or not but somethings at play and I also would like an answer
  14. he does business. hes the best in the world at it and only behind warren buffet. he will make mistakes all humans do but as it stands hes the best at what he does and after seeing how big tesla got in such a short time it wouldn't suprise me if his actions helped him in the long run, people are tired of the system and eventually the rapture will come. alot of scientists and revolutionary thinkers called charles darwin a fool and even drew a picture of him as half gorilla, if one things for certain death taxes and change are the three main guarantees in life and ill add a fourth. history will repeat itself. \ elon musk is a genius, no one on nbr is even close, yet we like to view ourselves in high regard, but lets all do a reality check and draw the conclusion he didn't just randomly have an outburst it is planned. he wants that KOOL image and the fact that he has a leather jacket and backwards bandana around his neck in some appearances only compounds this. leave the guy alone. hes rich because of good fortune and lions share his mind. 15. Anyone keeping up with AI>? its getting pretty advanced, heres a simple poem about rgb lights hard to believe a computer program created it With apologies to Edgar Allan Poe, A tale of tech I now unfold, A mockery of RGB lights, so bright, On computers, oh so bold. Once upon a midnight dreary, While I pondered, weak and weary, Suddenly there came a sight, That made me laugh with all my might. A computer, decked with lights, In rainbow hues, a wondrous sight, But oh, the colors, how they clashed, Like a discordant symphony, so rashed. The red, the green, the blue, so bright, Like a traffic light, a warning in sight, But not a single color, pure and true, Just a mishmash, an eyesore, anew. I chuckled at the silly sight, This RGB display, a sorry plight, A fashion statement, oh so dire, A cry for help, a burning fire. The lights, they flashed and twirled, A disco ball, a mad whirl, But not a single thought, profound or wise, Just a gimmick, a marketing guise. Oh, how I laughed, with glee and cheer, At this ridiculous display, so queer, A computer, once a noble tool, Now reduced to a foolish rule. But then, a thought, so strange and new, Came to me, as I laughed anew, Perhaps, in this mad world we live, The RGB lights, a symbol, we must give. A symbol of our times, so bright, A beacon, shining with all its might, A message, loud and clear, That we are here, and we are queer. So let us embrace, this strange display, And laugh, and dance, and play, For in the end, it's just a game, And RGB lights, a silly, silly claim.
  16. Hey there, fellow tech-savvy folks! Today, I'm here to dish out some juicy insights on the age-old debate between laptop gaming and desktop gaming, as well as the scoop on VR. So, grab a snack, sit back, and let's get this show on the road! 🚀 First up, let's talk turkey—or rather, let's talk gaming rigs. When it comes to the great laptop vs. desktop debate, it's a bit of a David and Goliath story. On one hand, you've got the sleek, portable laptops, often touting stylish designs and the convenience of being able to game on the go. On the other hand, you've got the beefy, behemoth desktops, armed with towering performance and the luxury of customization. So, what's the verdict? Well, it ultimately depends on your gaming needs and preferences, my friends. If you're the type of gamer who's always on the move, or if you're short on space, a laptop might be the way to go. You can play games like Fortnite, League of Legends, or Overwatch on the couch, in bed, or even on a picnic blanket in the park (just don't forget the sunscreen!). Laptops are also generally more affordable than desktops, so they're a great option for those on a budget. However, if you're a hardcore gamer who demands the best performance, desktops are still the king of the hill. With a desktop, you can upgrade individual components as needed, which means you can always have the latest and greatest hardware. Plus, let's be real, there's something undeniably cool about having a towering rig that looks like it belongs in a high-tech laboratory. 😎 Now, let's shift gears and talk about VR. Ah, yes, Virtual Reality—the futuristic tech that's been promised to us since the days of sci-fi movies and TV shows. And let me tell you, it's finally starting to live up to the hype! With VR, you can transport yourself into the world of your favorite games, movies, and even educational experiences. It's like stepping into a digital dream, folks! But, as with any new technology, there are some kinks to work out. For starters, VR headsets can be a tad pricey, and you'll need a beefy computer to run them smoothly. Plus, there's still a limited selection of VR content, although that's rapidly changing as more developers jump on the bandwagon. So, what do people in general think about VR? Well, gamers and tech enthusiasts are understandably stoked about the possibilities. However, there's still a bit of a learning curve when it comes to navigating VR interfaces and controls. But hey, that's all part of the fun, right? The novelty of VR is still fresh, and it's exciting to see where it'll take us in the years to come. And there you have it, folks! That's my two cents on the state of laptop gaming, desktop gaming, and VR. Whether you're a hardcore gamer or just a casual enthusiast, there's never been a better time to dive into the world of tech and gaming. So, which side are you on: team laptop, team desktop, or team VR? Let me know in the comments below! 🤔 Thanks for tuning in to my report, and I'll catch you all in the next one! 😎 Title: "The Lonely Truth About VR: A 36-Year-Old Single Man's Perspective" Hello, fellow forum dwellers. I'm writing this post as a 36-year-old single man, and I must admit, I'm feeling a bit lonely. As I sit here in my small apartment, surrounded by my beloved tech gadgets, I can't help but feel a sense of emptiness. It's a feeling that no amount of screen time or online interactions can fill. But enough about that. Let's talk about something that has been on my mind lately - Virtual Reality (VR). Now, I know what you're thinking, "What's the point of VR if you're just going to be alone in a virtual world?" And to that, I say, "Exactly!" VR has the potential to revolutionize the way we experience and interact with technology. Imagine being able to transport yourself to a virtual world where you can be anyone and do anything you want. No longer will we be confined to the limitations of our physical bodies. We'll be able to soar through the skies, explore new planets, and even attend virtual concerts and events. But, let's be real, folks. At the end of the day, VR is just a tool. A tool that, like any other, can be used for good or bad. And let me tell you, I've seen some pretty questionable things in my time spent in VR. From virtual strip clubs to virtual drug use, it's clear that some people are using this technology for less-than-savory activities. And that's where my obsession with laptops comes in. You see, in order to have a truly immersive VR experience, you need a powerful laptop. One that can handle the heavy graphics and processing required to transport you to these virtual worlds. I've spent countless hours researching and comparing different laptops, looking for the perfect one that will give me the best VR experience possible. I've read reviews, watched videos, and even joined online forums dedicated to laptop and VR enthusiasts. But, as much as I love talking about laptops and VR, I can't help but feel a sense of sadness. A sense of longing for human connection that I just can't seem to find in the virtual world. So, to all my fellow lonely souls out there, I urge you to take a step back from your screens and go outside. Take a walk, meet some people, and maybe, just maybe, you'll find that human connection that we're all searching for. And to those of you who are lucky enough to have found your tribe in the virtual world, I say, "Kudos to you!" Keep on exploring, keep on creating, and most importantly, keep on connecting. In conclusion, VR may be the future of technology, but it's up to us to use it in a way that brings us closer together, rather than further apart. So, what do you think, fellow forum dwellers? Are you a fan of VR? Do you think it has the potential to change the way we interact with technology and each other? Let's get the conversation started! P.S. If you have any recommendations for a good laptop for VR, feel free to share!
  17. lol.. nice.nice. I want a quest 3 bad. I heard from a few reviews it is really is a step up from the quest 2. Ill either get the quest 3 next month or suffice/suffer with the quest 2 tomorrow. its a win win. looking forward to playing half life alyx and re doing the GTA V mod mainly for exploring and messing around. Some fun games that run natively on the quest 2/3 and because its VR its like playing video games for the first time as a kid/teen.
  18. Just bought a vivobook 15x 1080p laptop from a local shop today and so far im impressed, I have a great gaming laptop and ultrabook already but had to jump on the oled bandwagon. specs asus vivobook 15x windows 11 home 8gb ddr4 3200 512gb nvme intel xe i5 12500h thunderbolt 4 hdmi 2.0 1080p 100 percent DCI coverage OLED display 60hz 600nits(hdr) 350 nits(sdr) battery life on it at first was 3.5 hours normal usage now after a few power saving tweaks im getting a solid 5-6 hours and thats under constant load and actually using it, unlike the review where it just sits not being touched. I must say for 650 cad it was well worth the price, now to add a 8gb stick and get the puppy a 4tb ssd. should be goood enough for 400 plus older games I have in my collection and for cyberpunk/witcher 3/crysis remastered I can use geforce now.
  19. I just bought a cheap oled laptop for 680cad a vivobook, ran timespy and got 720 because of the single channel ram, pretty funny seeing your score as 37.1 times faster. wonder why theirs such a huge disparity
  20. @seanweein the end what did you settle on score wise from your 4090 in timespy? where did everyone go
  21. thats a great deal you fluked out man. I cancelled the lattitude 7400 in favor of a oled asus vivobook that im using right now 15x. the display mother of mary is it vibrant and gorgeous to look at. the dell was britney spears this is farah faucet.
  22. So I heard about this a few months ago and never tried it because it didn't interest me. so I finally got around to testing it out and yes its pretty impressive. one thing I noticed right away was 1440p with the AI upscaling looks like 4k and a bit better than native with a few tweaks like noise reduction and edge sharpening set to 49 percent. the implementation is fantastic as it works in windowed mode and on everything that one would need it for. I checked out 1080p and had low expectations and had to make sure i wasn't runnning 1440p or 4k it looks phenomenal and ill post a video below that you can try setting to 1080p and using the upscaling it should impress even the more jaded individuals. set to 1080p and set ai upscaling to 4 with edge and de noise at 30-50 percent and yeah post back as I dont have the best vison but i was impressed to say the least. this is a big deal if you have a large collection of raw 1080p blurays stored locally.
  23. I won't knock the hustle these are the pair most common with console jockeys then the die hards
  24. just just bought a dell latitude 7400 for 510 after shipping/tax here in canada. and I am excited to get it, I bought it due to its 21 hours battery life and at 500 a 512gb ssd and 16gb should be enough as i'll just be using it for chess/pool/geforce now. hopefully it will last the 11 hours of web surfing every says. so yeah very excited Anyone know anything about it that they want to share? gripes? praises? Dell Latitude 7400 Laptop 14 - Intel Core i7 8th Gen - i7-8665U - Dual Core 4.8Ghz - 512GB SSD - 16GB RAM - 1920x1080 FHD - Windows 10 Pro (Renewed) : Amazon.ca: Electronics actually I bought it because of battery life and @kojack is always praising the dell inspiron lineup. Kojack what are your thoughts on the 7400? is the battery life really 15-20 hours
  25. honestly just buy the IEts cooler, I know custom is better than a typical cooler but their custom coolers dont hold a candle to the gt500. im getting 49-50c while gaming I have a suspicion they are not getting 49c while gaming and even if they did something janky is at play. ive had the strikeforce cooler before and it was about as good as any custom cooler but the gt500 blows it out of the water.
