Memory Express currently has a 1 user 1 year download license on sale for $9.99CAD. You might notice that they're out of stock online (I know, I already gave them grief that they have to mail the bloody key to you so you can download it), but Staples.ca will match the price and email the key. I guess if you happen to live somewhere with an actual ME store you can grab one off the shelf. https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX69512 I know this probably don't seem like much to anybody else out there, but we rarely ever get anything remotely close to a good deal in the Great White North

I just bought this: Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Gen 7 AMD Laptop, 16.0" IPS 165Hz, Ryzen 7 6800H during the eBay sale. I should get it in the next day or 2 and was hoping you guys can tell me what to expect. Firstly, Is Win.11 even worth trying it out, or should I just slash and burn the ssd and install a proper OS right off the bat? I'm thinking the route I'm going to go is Linux (Mint or Solus) as my primary OS and have a grey market LTSB/C Windows install as either VM or dualboot. Has anybody been able to get a functional Win 7 install up and running on these Lenovos? Secondly, I would've preferred to have saved myself some money and got the bare minimum of SSD space and RAM. Then I would buy what I want elsewhere. I don't know what type of SSD Lenovo specs these days, so I might be OK on that front, but is 16GB RAM going to be enough? I watched some reviews and they talked about the advantages/disadvantages of x8 and x16 RAM types. That went waaay over my head, so can anybody dumb it down for me? Supposedly, it's not as much of an issue with ddr5 ram, so I don't know. But let's say I do decide to upgrade to 32GB, what should I be looking for? Cheers

Lenovo does have a Canadian online store. Just the problem - like pretty much everything here in Canada, is limited selection & paying too much compared to other countries. I did end up buying a machine through their eBay store during the current sale (plus eBay had an additional 15% off code). Chatting with support when I was trying to decide if I should buy they mentioned the regardless of where I purchase it from, it'd be shipped from their US warehouse, with Lenovo covering the cost of duties and taxes.

The above purchase was a total no-go. The guy had no proof of purchase - basically means, no warranty since nobody will touch it without one. Plus he would only take cash or etransfer and pretty much accused me of being a scammer for wanting to use Paypal - completely ignoring the fact that he didn't have any pics or anything to even prove the computer actually exists (the pic I posted here is literally the only pic in his ad). Enough rant… I am still interested in a Legion, but F-me, they are stupidly overpriced in Canada - not to mention needing to wait 3mo. or more just to get one and I don't think their outlet store ships outside the US

Thinking about purchasing this: Apparently it was recieved as a gift and is unopened. Anything I need to know about the laptop itself? The reviews I've read on Legions seem to be fairly positive. Things I'm wondering about: how locked down is the BIOS? Is a battery life of ~6-7 hours realistic?(seems to be the range in the reviews) Can the CPU/GPU be undervolted? (Never had an AMD machine). Finally, my main OS will be a Linux flavour. How well adapted are Legions to Linux - or vise-versa? Cheers

Sorry for not using the template, but this is a general question anways… I'm looking at getting a new laptop, hopefully soon. Top of my list is a Lenovo Legion with the 16:10 screen. Sadly, you can't find one in Canada for under $2k so I'm looking at other options I have found a couple of "used - like new" laptops on Eluktronics site, but I'm not familiar with the brand. Can anybody comment on the brand? Second, both the machines are Ryzen 4xxx (I don't remember which one specifically) processors. I haven't been following Ryzen at all, so is it worth looking into the older CPUs like this?

introduction What web browser are you using, and why?
RandomIdiot replied to Mr. Fox's topic in General Software
I've been using Librewolf for a bit now. I guess its better than waterfox - which I was using previously. For my use Librewolf was a little over-secure, so disabled some of the features. Don't remember which ones now. For my notFox browsers, after flip flopping between Opera and Vivaldi, I finally settled on Brave. IMO, all browsers suck in their own way. It's just a matter of finding the one that sucks least for my needs- 158 replies

I remember reading about this before launch. To be honest the thought of "the browser for gamers" kinda made me throw up in my mouth. So considering it seems like most of that crap can be disabled, what benefit does it have over plain old Opera- 158 replies
