  1. jokes aside, not much OC headroom is not a surprise, with both AMD and Intel going head to head theyll both squeeze out as much as they can, not to leave any potential performance on the table. as for locking down OV....wtf 😵 heres to hoping that this is just wccftech being wccftech....
  2. oh wow, faulty cpu is something u dont see or hear about every day....
  3. id rather compare the 2080S with the 3080 haha. but yeah, that +35% difference id only expect in synthetic benchmarks.
  4. haha yeah its kinda like the Intel Arc A380, we all know it totally sucks but its just something completely new, a foray into the unknown 😄
  5. damn, piece of art! congratz on that 🙂 i hope it tastes as good as it looks hahaha me and my lady have decided to go "green", so to say, thus cooking way more veggies and preparing salads as main meals, etc. trying to dial down on sweet stuff and fatty carbs (we used to love those readymade noodle salads with heavy cream sauces 😅 no more of that!)
  6. for thermal pad layout, i would suggest taking out the gpu module completely, as well as the heatsink. then make a "best guess" first by laying out thermal pads on all the critical components (vRAM, chokes, mosfets, etc.) and putting on the heatsink while still outside the laptop. then, looking from the side against a light source, ull see if the thermal pads make proper contact with the heatsink or if there is light shining through (thermal pads too thin) or if the heatsink sits a bit slanted on the gpu (pads too thick). after taking the heatsink off ull also be able to judge the fit by the indentation of the components left on the pads. i know it sounds a bit finicky, but that is basically how i always check the layout the repadding a machine im not familiar with.
  7. kool i was juuust about to ask about the deetz on this over in the benchmark thread when i saw this thread pop up in my feed. nice write up! u maybe wanna post a link to this thread over there 🙂
  8. if you want quick n dirty u can just force the lowest idle 2D clocks that your gpu sets as per stock. then u know for sure that there are no instabilities 🙂 otherwise, its actually way quicker than UV with a CPU since u start seeing glitches or stuttering right away once u go too low. as for drivers, im also still on 451.48 *lol* im using a mod provided by J95 from back in the NBR days. for more current ones, i can warmly recommend going with xtreme g (or XG for short) drivers, theyre decrapified from telemetry and have some tweaks implemented: https://www.reddit.com/r/XtremeG/
  9. huh, out of curiosity i was looking into some performance numbers on NBC (yes i know i know, but at least same baseline lol), turns out the difference is maybe a few percent here and there? nothing to write home about...
  10. probably a good call if u want to be prepared for potential downtimes of your watercooling setup but still want the best of air cooling 🙂
  11. haha ok, i stand corrected! with those extended timelines in mind, a 36s time saver really translates into palpable differences, glad u were able to test it out 🙂 looking forward to the screenies mate
  12. how are they going to know if u opened up the machine if its just for switching out ram? shouldnt be too difficult, unless they have a flipped mobo design where ud have to disassemble everything. in general though i wouldnt expect much of a real world impact coupled with that CPU.
  13. haha nice ure enjoying it! although i guess it depends on the type of game ure playing (fast paced or not), ur internet connection and also ur sensitivity towards input lag.
  14. thats one thing u gotta respect Samsung for: their update policy is even better than Google's! 😄
  15. welp, never mind on that then if it aint beating an NH-D15 *lol*
  16. so both the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra and the ROG Phone 6 were bummers, either due to looks, abysmal camera performance or too much bling bling / gamer looks. also, both companies are not really known for their great android update policies, ugh.... so for now ill be patiently waiting for the Pixel 7 series to launch in October, i think thatll finally be the right moment to retire my Mate 20 X. its quite frustrating to be honest, u either get great hardware (i.e. giant screen, current SoC and huge battery) OR u get awesome android update policies, but NOT BOTH! like.....why? *sigh*
  17. ...and then they refresh it halfway with a 4090 Ti Ultra 🤣 there have been some updates though, including switch from aluminum to copper. not sure about the current state though:
  18. btw bro @Mr. Fox i was just thinking of you whilst watching the latest vid by Roman, hes showing off TG's upcoming direct die frame incl a matching EK waterblock for Alder Lake, supposedly also compatible with Raptor Lake (starts at around 13:50):
  19. if its only restricted to national usage, that could be realistic. i remember back in singapore they also had crazy offers like that, 100GB+ for like 10 bucks but only nationally (with SG being a city-state, thats not really much area covered lol)
  20. i think, therefore i am / we want, therefore it exists i like 😁👌🏼
  21. hey u gotta start somewhere right? plus theres always gonna be someone higher level than u (in all instances of life), so no sweat, just enjoy 😃✌🏼
