  1. to break it down in more detail: - write original message while quoting someone by clicking "quote" button under the message u want to quote - submit reply - go to second message u want to quote, click on "quote" - in the new "second message window", click on the quote and ull see a small box on the upper left corner like here: click on that box, do a Ctrl+X - go back to your first message, click edit, do a Ctrl+V to insert the second quote and off you go. its a bit annoying but it works!
  2. it is actually possible to add quotes! but only on desktop, not on mobile browsers...u have to manually cut n paste them. here, lemme show you (end of message part 1 without editing) edit: aaand here inserting a quote from @Reciever and yes ure right, altho it is possible its not really feasible....
  3. completely agreed on all points. gotta set your priorities straight with a kid coming up (but also gotta scratch that itch hahaha ðŸĪ ) im expecting RDNA3 to follow the same "philosophy" as the CPU side, meaning they will likely get beaten by Nvidia by single-digit percentages (as potentially 13900K vs. 7950X) but at far far FAR less power consumption. as for why im going with the 4090, larger vRAM (expected) and earlier availability. for power consumption ill be set with a Seasonic TX-1600, hope thats enough for that monster card ðŸĪĢ😅☠ïļ
  4. crappedy-crap, next hard brick and programmer flash incoming later today! on the bright side, bandwidth and latency numbers are heading towards +60% above the SPD at 2400 Mhz 🙂 not done with tightening of subtimings yet though (will update with exact performance numbers once done). also, this disassembly will give me a chance to do a proper LM reapply, the current one is suboptimal at best....
  5. yeah its more like the prices adjusted in such a way that asking for a discount will then get u regular aftermarket pricing 😄
  6. i feel ya brother! first desktop system in 15 years! been saving up for almost 3 years now, so im going all out with the 7950x 😛 if theres gonna be an X3D version of that ill switch right away, few months timeframe is just not long enough for me to be acceptable 😄 also aiming for a 4090 later in Oct/Nov, although im VERY curious to see what AMD has to offer with RDNA3, i have a feeling they will be even more competitive than with RDNA2.
  7. yeah its weird that AMD chose to lower their pricing on the higher tear 7950X but go higher price with the 7600X. seems counter-intuitive, but ill wait and see what the reviews say when raptor lake comes out. doesnt mean ill wait with the purchase though, AM5 makes more sense for me personally 😁
  8. loving the way u take care of ur classic machine, keep it up 🙂 best to post pics of both the new and old cards, as well as the heatsink. that way we can figure out where it might not fit.
  9. oh boy, u really think AMD would leave PCH/CPU link at pcie 4.0? cant imagine that, especially not on X670E mobos that provide 2 chips in order to have enough pcie 5.0 lanes available for gpus as well as I/O. thanks for the headsup though, something to look out for! during the upcoming reviews!
  10. that would still be minimum 3 gens vs. intel 2 full stop 😛 ill take it! and yes, im referring to the "+" when counting 3 gens at one gen per 2 years... wallet is ready for the 27th ðŸĪ
  11. yes asbolutely agreed on the overall abysmal situation with regards to no money in pocket + inflation. however, both intel and amd are still gonna try high prices before they come to their senses. i mean, look at how long it took Nvidia and their partners to react. price in europe are STILL way too high for 3000 series. dont expect too much empathy or understanding from those companies ðŸĪ” sooo according to AMD's livestream right now the 7950x is about 48% faster than 5950x in CB23 multi. damn thats gonna be a very tight race vs. the 13900k. i figure intel is just gonna bin it until the last second to just barely beat the 7950x 😄
  12. hmmm Intel isnt in full control of their own pricing though. shareholders demand a certain margin, since Intel has never been the "budget option" for cpus. so if AMD offers comparable / better performance for a lower price, Intel will be under pressure to either ignore that or make their shareholders mad... also, can only put that 800 dollar price tag into perspective once 13900K pricing is known. if the 13900K ends up being 900 dollars, then 800 aint that bad 😄
  13. loving that handle 😂
  14. phew that sounds tough... lets hope 7000 series will be improved in this regard. maybe AMD's new "XMP" equivalent RAMP standard will help a bit here
  15. yeah at least u have the option to go SO-DIMM at all. but i dont get this whole format switching, seems to unnecessary when the existing standard is working perfectly fine and is widely adopted...
  16. i wonder why they dont offer it standalone.... ðŸĪŠðŸĪĶ‍♂ïļ
  17. dude, im not trying to attack u here, so no need to get so defensive! 😄 simple reason why i didnt point it out to @Mr. Fox or @Papusan, namely that I didnt read this whole thread and didnt check every single screenshot posted here. so chillax, i just got curious when i saw ur screenshot and wanted to know more, thats it 🙂 im just taking an interest here! good info, i didnt think 5.0+ ghz all core was doable on an 5950x without subambient cooling. what ive mostly seen is maybe up to 4.7-4.8 all core. but maybe that is benchstable vs. everyday stable. i guess it depends on the perspective. if you compare based on thread count then ure absolutely right, of course. and that also makes the most sense in the hwbot context, since the categories are based on core or thread numbers. i was looking at it from a pricing and generational tier perspective, i.e. highest tier intel vs. highest tier AMD in the current gen. 12900K has less threads but an advantage regarding reachable clocks, so i actually expected it to be able and beat the 5950X going head to head in CB. i didnt expect the amd chip to be able and clock that high on all core, so thats cool to see!
  18. um... so out of the box theyre basically on par in CB, but the 12900K i could imagine reach overall higher clocks with subambient cooling vs the 5950x. soooo i would expect the former to beat the latter. thats why i was asking. but if ure just doing initial testing on the chip then ok, still at the beginning, more to come. hope this is more clear now 😄
  19. lol no one said u were "supposed to" bud 😄 just curious, i expected the 12900K(S) to beat the 5950X when both are maxxed out. same cooling methods on both?
  20. hmmmm... that looks familiar somehow 😁 another quick update on the RAM: i now tested all four sticks individually and determined that 3 out of the 4 are able to do 3800 Mhz on Gear 2, with 2 out of the 4 capable of 3500 Mhz at Gear 1. now to check and see the bandwidth / latency on those two and tighten up all the subtimings as far as possible.
  21. yep, for sure. liquid metal under the IHS can easily make a 10-15C difference. 20C might be a bit of a stretch, but it aint unheard of. likely a combo of beneath and above the IHS. plus different cpus, systems etc.... lots of variables.
  22. interesting, so u havent beaten ur best 5950x scores yet in CB20? just judging by the saved scores i mean.
