  1. It will likely hurt GN initially, simply from the fanbase differential but I expect as long as GN (and not just Steve, of course) maintains their principles then they can stand the test of time. If you think about it from another perspective even if GN then makes a mistake in the future, corrects it and republish then it becomes a swipe at LMG, assuming LMG doesnt take stock of the message conveyed and continues this initial mentality. Thats what I think will be the unfortunate cost of this video. I used HUB when I was looking at the Aorus 40" 4k 120hz panel, it was very informative but also since I was seriously considering purchase at the time I also looked at some other techtubers (albeit smaller) and a couple of standard article based reviews, but HUB is where I started. Seems to be there niche? It was well done, came away learning about lighting zones, how HDR actually works, the bandwidth limitation of the actual HDMI port, BGR vs RGB. I also check them out for GPU/CPU reviews as well even if GN is where I start, I like there content as well. I think that is fair. LMG can buy the equipment and the space to do more empirical / data driven types of reviews, but you cant buy experience. You can hire those that have the experience, of course, but you cant throw money at an employee and expect accurate results right off the first draft. Especially so on the type of video assembly line that LMG currently operates under. Obviously for the "most part" that methodology works fine for them but perhaps they need to have different timelines for each genre/category of LMG. That last comment is nonsense. The equipment is bought and obviously the floor space as well as personnel. Now they just need to build the experience, as, in this "space" they just need to be humble and engage in some serious kaizen. Its probably a breath of fresh air for a lot of US viewers, been alot of hum drum a singular topic that is getting really tired of late (to me, at least).
  2. GN's video was pointing a lot of flaws but it was still quite professional in nature and easily could've been an easy way for LTT to just accept the L, and improve. Both parties would've been better for it. Sadly, Linus doesn't seem able to look at the bigger picture (quite possibly by nature of his work environment), instead taking it personally. The reason GN is reporting on it, is mostly due to LTT touting their test lab as an empirical data driven location for their reviews, which is not their usual domain. There's bound to be growing pains, but unfortunately and/or fortunately they were already chest beating against HUB and GN. Thus, here we are lol
  3. HP tends to have the vBIOS stored in the system BIOS, versus the more common scenario of the vBIOS being present on the MXM card itself. Not sure if the System BIOS can be modified to accept "non-standard cards" or not
  4. To be fair, the writing was on the wall as GN had posted a couple of videos IIRC basically saying that they wouldnt hold back with criticism if they saw something that looked untoward, I think that was mostly in relation to how LTT handled the backpacks thing a while back. Obviously its not as if they are targeting LTT, but they were on the radar at the time. At least that was my impression at the time.
  5. Agreed, quite a few plugs but, got to pay the bills. I skip them of course for the most part or end the video early if I'm active at my pc. Just finished watching the video, it's critical but not trashy. Obviously LTT could double down and they have a huge audience. It was done well enough to be taken constructively. Just my opinion of course. I did chuckle a bit when GN brought up the point of not being able to put enough time into their videos, which was my critique of their content before watching GN's video. The issue also kind stems from the problem youtubers face when wanting to dial back down. The channel is LTT which means Linus, which mean he has to be introduced, informed, approve the script, do the video, edit, qc it, post it and on to the next one basically immediately? It's amazing he could do it this long, I don't know if I could do it.
  6. I stopped watching LTT probably around the time they did a few laptop reviews (Asus with AIO, Clevo p870 SLI) . I think they just take too much time to do appropriately and with respect to his business (obviously does quite well), I don't think he can put adequate time into them. Not sure what they have been up to lately beyond the occasional WAN show clip. I think both have their merits, I would lean towards GN without having seen the video yet but I plan to watch once I get home, was a 13 hour work day so barely having my first meal in a bit.
  7. This is why its not up to individual members to dictate terms of engagement. If a problem arises, use the report function. If action is needed, it will be taken. Locking Thread.
  8. Good Evening ladies and gents! Collecting data is annoying, have a bit more respect for the people that do this sort of thing as a living. Anyways, I have been able to collect some "benchmarks" for the following Ace Combat 7 Cyberpunk 2077 Generation Zero God of War GTFO Horizon Zero Dawn Project Wingman Returnal Shadow of the Tomb Raider Tekken 7 Probably going to get data for: Tomb Raider Rise of the Tomb Raider Sons of the Forest Valkyria Chronicles 4 ICEY Dragon Quest XI Atomic Heart Crysis Remastered Witcher 3 Anyone have any FTP requests? Also plan to do some emulation benchmarking as well, recording that will be...interesting lol I have mostly PS2 era stuff, but some Wii/Switch as well IIRC
  9. Should make a new thread for your request.
  10. Well, got the AM4 system set back up on another monitor, all seems to be working as expected with the 2700x @ 4.1 Ghz, still running on the stock BIOS as well but I have the latest on a flash drive which ill update tonight or tomorrow morning. Still trying to get used to benchmarking games, spending more time with MSI Afterburner to see how that all works for games that dont have built-in benchmarks. Well hopefully tomorrow I can get a decent amount of work in 🙂
  11. Its the same as the TOS to which you agreed to make an account here. No one is saying you cant get help, only that you share visibility with the community fairly. You are not the only one seeking information.
  12. Sorry, not going to fly. Please adhere to the forum guidelines. Thanks
  13. Do not re-post multiple times, it removes visibility to other threads. If you have additional content you wish to convey, edit the last post. Thanks.
  14. When you speak in a public domain, you will be subject to criticism, such is life. Hertzian left because he got a slap on the hand for posting swastika's, not due to "negativity", then proceeded to break numerous rules on his way out, and is still welcome to post here but Im sure ego will prevent that from occurring.
  15. What led me to overclocking originally was better performance in gaming. Though the one exception was the hd 4890, I was bummed when I couldn't maintain 1Ghz. Early days. It's also what had me turning up my nose when gtx 470 VS 570 was a hot topic. 470 was a dark horse back then. Yeah gaming is mostly why I picked up this chip. I've been keen on it since Broadwell, it's not universally better but as a turn key product it should fair well in single threaded titles. Last weekend I watched control basically max 1 core with maybe 10-15 percent spread amongst the rest When I originally bought my mobo and cpu it was with this planned upgrade. Not this chip but w/e the end game chip looked like for this socket. @Mr. Foxkind of derailed that with the bundle he sold me but I still held on to my original daily driver for this purpose. Tried going the b350 route originally but the sata ports were damaged, basically had to treat myself to x570 to drive back into Dallas and swap the board out. Guess it's time to get a list of games / benchmarks ready for this weekend.
  16. Yeah it will mostly for some titles but the 16GB is kind of limiting for a daily driver and the Asus board really doesn't like the ram I originally bought (gskill 3200mhz, 32GB) for am4. I plan to make it my dedicated benching system so that if things aren't working out I don't have to retune, reinstall GPU's just to be able to game or chat with some buds. Some games don't like running on ddr4 4400mhz either, so it's better apt for benching than the turn key 5800x3d which is only intended for gaming, web surfing efc etc
  17. Picked up the 5800x3D today since the price dropped to 270 on Amazon. I figure if I sell the 2700x for 50-60 the performance/dollar uplift comes close to when I bought the 2700x at iirc 160. I plan to review it against my 2700x and 10850k platform coupled with the 3090 mostly for gaming.
  18. I recently picked up a P157SM-A also for somewhat the same vein. One, to test if the 4980hq would work (it didnt). Second, mostly so I can start rebuilding content for the forum, a lot of the NBR content is in the archive. Would love to see your adventures! The GTX 980(m) mod is always an entertaining read :)
  19. Good to see you on the Forums! Hopefully you have some luck with getting a card
  20. Im pushing 450 just playing games and couldnt care less on my 3090. Still need to get the 5800X3D so I can put the platform you sold to me back to its intended purpose of benching. Been eyeing my 4870x2, gtx 295, 2x 5970's a bit more lately. Just havent had the time and working in 110F warehouse is pretty draining. 650Ti Boost has been coming down in price finally so I might snag a couple of those for benching this winter
  21. You heard? Guess these guys need to try harder it's practically plastered on the walls lol Can do :)
  22. I got around that with hooking up another AX router closer to the ceiling, right beneath my room on the second floor. Since I rent I cant just go drilling holes and such. All that being said, im subbed 🙂
