Leopold FC980MBT has everything on your wishlist except backlighting.

No need for a lot bling bling lights and such fancy functions you don't need. Just with lights (white) and numpad. And of course ok mechanical key switches. Up to 150$ for the price.
Basically sounds like you are looking for a Traditional 1800 styled keyboard.
Leopold makes one of the best pre-built products on that front, basically the same I have been eyeing for some time now. The mech switch is more or less subjective but you can get the above unit that @saturnotaku suggested in a few different types.
There is also the Keychron Q5 but its too pricey, the V5 seems to get the point across at 90 USD, not sure what it would cost to you though @Papusan as shipping and VAT might drive it above the budget. I havent used any of their products yet so I cant speak to them personally, on paper look pretty good?

I use Corsair K95 RGB PLATINUM tastatur with Cherry MX Speed key switches.
And a couple of unbranded cheap keyboards. They do what you want them to do but not much more.
I'm in hunt for a much shorter full size mechanical keyboard. Come with options if you know about a few okish. Below 400mm long is preferred.
Full size meaning what exactly?
Dedicated Function keys I would assume given what you like to do, but what about standout arrow keys and standout numpad?-

I've used split keyboards since Microsoft Natural Keyboard came out, for personal use mostly. Have absolutely no issues using standard keyboards BTW. Also have the original Kinesis with mechanical switches, albeit they are too soft for me. The nice thing about the Kinesis Freestyle is the adjustability in terms of the width and angle. The switches are membrane but very pleasant.
Its an interesting concept, I never tried it myself yet but there is a pretty devoted following on those types of boards so it obviously works really well for those that click with it.

But the rest is crap 😄 Its to loud and typical razer its disconnects a lot...Got in contact with razer and they gave me a Razer Pair Tool to reconnect it. Tool works but after a while its disconnects again and need to use the tool again....
I need to change it but i cannot find a nice looking white wireless Keyboard 😆
That looks like a clean keyboard, nice aesthetic!
The one keyboard I have always wanted, but for reasons that I cant articulate, never bought, is the Leopold FC980M. I'd like for my next keyboard to have QMK functions though so that once again rules out the FC980M, but I can get the layout through other means.

@ssj92 Is one the resident mad scientist who has the M18xR2 and Alienware 18, should be able to point you in the right direction.

Welcome to the forums, some of the communities' regulars peruse the Alienware sub-forum. I had also upgraded my Ranger to a 1070, it was an interesting experience :)

Kinesis Freestyle II. The ergonomics is good, key layout is not ideal though, especially the lack of standard insert.
Oh a split keyboard? The layout reminds a bit of the Tidbit Snap. Never tried using that layout. Did you naturally gravitate towards that form factor or just decide to take the plunge one day?

Good Morning All,
Just wanted to get a keyboard thread started, a lot of the stuff I do with revolves around various means of input so I figured I would start this as I plan to start making a semi-custom Traditional 1800 board after I do a bit more research.
What kind of keyboards does everyone use?
I used to pretend that I dont really belong in the hobbyist mechanical keyboard realm, but that doesnt seem to be an honest rendition of the current situation, haha.
For now, what I have is the following...
IBM Model M w/ the ol' Bluckling Spring
Durgod Full-Size keyboard, Cherry MX Brown
WASD Keybaords Code v3 TKL Cherry MX Blue
Pok3r Vortex 60% Cherry MX Nature White
Nullbitsco Tidbit, QMK, OLED, Rotary Encoder, Numpad w/ Cherry MX Black
I find myself enjoying the Nature Whites the most, not so much the 60% layout though, it has its charms. I have long since desired a traditional 1800 keyboard as it reminds me of the Alienware 17 R1 keyboard, which I also enjoyed. Previously have always been a big fan of the MX browns (still am) but the Nature Whites are fantastic to type and game on.
I am thinking of getting a QMK powered, "custom" Traditional 1800 PCB and build it out with MX Nature Whites.

The good news is, Intel Iris Xe graphics performance only needs to improve a little over 3200% to match 4090. 🤣
One small step for Xe, one big leap for A770

I have absolutely nothing against thin and light laptops. I think having laptops that prioritize battery life and size over performance has their place and the bean counters (and sales overall) agree.
What I don't like and continue to lament is the 8-10yr decline in true DTR options till this last time around (12th gen) we were left with one single quasi upgradable model (everything was upgradable except the GPU) and lower power limits and mobile vs desktop chipset.
13th gen is the first time there was 0 DTR or DTR'esque options brought to market and it was a somber reality.
The last "true" full blown DTR was the X170 series from Clevo which ended with the 11th gen. 😞
I'm hoping Clevo takes another stab at it even with AMD as an option if that is what it takes.
Here here, on all points.

Sorry to hear. At a risk of stating the very obvious, HR departments are there not to protect Humans but to protect the Business. If they got involved, it means that either the Human Resource posed a risk to the Business, or the Business determined they want to get rid of the person for any reason, and HR was tasked with figuring out a legally plausible cause for termination (that's probably less of an issue in the US with employment at will) . Dealing with those people is rarely pleasant, apart from perhaps in the hiring process when the company wants to hire you a lot and send easy on the eye HR people in to court the candidate (in which case they might want to ask themselves "what's the catch?").
Yeah, HR is a pleasant way of saying corporate spin doctors. Now I'm tasked with replacing her, an IT professional by trade and years of experience with unskilled labor hired off the street. Probably time for me to review my options.
-
A coworker of mine that I have been training for the 6 months was fired today. I was hoping she would be able to replace me in my current role but HR got involved, and now she is gone. Like I tell everyone, the more HR gets involved, the less Human I feel.
The one honest person I have come across and they got rid of her. Meanwhile I have more expensive people around me that cant scan a barcode accurately, show up when ever they want and dictate the terms of their roles.
Truly gutted

Thanks. Updated the list The system was more watertight on NBR. Possibly the only technical advantage of the old site. Not a biggie, but worth addressing if possible. Alternatively, perhaps firmer enforcement of a reasonable standard of posting might be worth considering, so that even fairly patient users are not forced to use the feature for sanity's sake. Without this, the noise is still there for any new and uninitiated visitors to see, could be off-putting.
Yep, I will be addressing this with Hiew IRL next time I see him, things appear to slowing a bit with both our work lives so we I intend to hopefully address a number of holes overall on the forum.

Nah, I did it on purpose, since he thought it would be cute to insult me as a low-baller in public the least I could do it put his stupidity in context for anyone else that might be interest later. I thought $250 for a parted out motherboard that nobody can use in a normal PC was pretty dog-gone generous. I wouldn't want it even for free if I did not have all of the parts that are missing on his naked PCB. It's worthless the way it is, unless you need a spare part for LN2 destruction.
Oh no, my apologies, I meant the seller. I should've been clearer.

Should've just sent that in PM, though at times I too fall victim to knee jerk reactions. That being said not usually after a week.

how would one go about creating a petition to the worlds gov. would it be possible to gain traction on twitter/facebook?
It's better than nothing.
It's a difficult balance between rational communication of a potential danger that you can't relate too and sounding irrational by skipping the details for shock value which makes for an uphill battle.

I think this Intel rebranding is them conceding parts of the mainstream market to AMD. Think about it. They won't have an i9 product to compete with the high end Zen 5 part, so they are going to consolidate the i7/i9 into a Core Ultra product (they definitely learned their lesson with the 11 gen cough *11900K). These Core Ultra products may not have a high number of P cores but will still compete in "efficiency", AI features and most importantly to the consumer, price.
Intel is really going to copy Apple and I feel this is going to lead them to their demise. While I was hoping Intel getting their butt kicked for a bit would teach them a lesson and force them to compete on price and product functionality, it could all be too late. I hope I am wrong.
Honestly during the x58 days people were joking around that if Intel decided to "up the ante" they'd have to go i9 as a joke.
Whats next? i9 then i12? Was often the banter.
44 minutes ago, ryan said:i find that hard to believe seems illogical. more heat=same risk
Is there a downside to overclocking GPU?The biggest issue with overclocking is the reduction in a component's lifespan. You can overclock a CPU, GPU, motherboard or RAM, but sending increased volts gradually damages these components. Damage is caused by heat generated from increased power.Altering the GPU by any means outside of the stock Governor (the management between power, clock, fan speed) is considered overclocking in the eyes of the manufacturer. The definition has been changing based on the need of who wishes to employ its use.
For Example if you ask @Mr. Fox if overclocking today is the same as overclocking in 2009-2014, he would have a resounding and profound but ultimately simple answer. I believe we all already know what that is, as its self-evident. Which would prove the point. When is the last time you were able to use Afterburner to push 1.225v?
I believe to @Etern4l's point though is not all overclocking is considered equal, and also like he mention in his example that in many cases you may cut the life in half, but that life isnt explicitly known. Also, if you bumped the memory alone its hardly going to kill the card. If you bumped the core and memory with no additional voltage, you are unlikely to affect the life of the card by any meaningful measure. If you add voltage and push past the limits with shunt mods and Frankenstein E-Power then yeah, you might be able to count the days that card remains in operation.

Too funny. I owned an 83 RX7. It's a very easy swap for a 5.0 from a mustang. You only have to rotate the front subframe 180 and even the motor mounts fit...I sold it before I could find another 5.0. I had one but someone asked me to sell it to put into their zephyr wagon.
For me I came from a k20a3 base automatic to a 6 speed k24a. The car is a lot of fun to drive, last time I had a standard was on a stock beater 240sx 15 years ago. I plan to work on suspension and wheels first though, I can feel the old car bending a bit. I'm not racer by any means, as someone who's been hit by 2 cars the engine becomes the guilty pleasure while the handling is where my focus tends to be.
