    i would change probably only c0 and d1 as before u got error on a1 and b0 while not now. remember that samsung chip have like 13 omh reading... where do you have the short ? on the coil or on vram nearby caps ? shorted rail should give no display or also no power at all.. i see u are able to post: are u using a second vga ?

    from the second picture, looks like some trace is broken. always use ipa to make the pcb and trace more visible. if u can make a better picture with ipa on it...

    never do reflow... it only stress cpu, vram and all other component. and it's not a proper reballing. send card tto someone that has the right equipment to do a proper job hard part is to be able to test the vga .. if they dont have an mxm notebook to try after they do rework and reballing. 3080 available on ebay for like 330€.

    can be bad chip, but so many of them went bad ? maybe core problem.... try reballing it.

    can be bad mxm slot ( is taht the one with vapor chamber ?) or is this one where u put other vga like 980 mxm and so on ? before conclusion tell us if u have more notebook or just one... notebook pwoer off can be cpu overclock..... try a stable multiplyer for 4.2ghz ....

    i too saw posts here talking about that cicichen-cooler heatsink and man.... the money- value ratio is top..... to be honest more money u spent on the notebook less ull get if u sell it. my clevo p870km with rtx 3080 + 32gb ram + i7 9700k is woth less then 1000€... considering i payd 850€for the vga and for a cooler people asked like 400-600€ .... dont waste much money on this old laptops.... newer one are double the performanche with newer cpus... for example one i7 14 series is like 3 or more time powerfull then 9700k.... and consume max 65 watt... also a 5070ti mobile is 30% faster then 3080 mobile.... u can get a 14 gen cpu with 5070ti second hand for 1000 -1200€max...

    x-vision just got in listing the rtx 50xx series. @SuperMG for your preoblem, do u have all voltage on vga ? some voltage maybe is misisng ? vcore, memory and so on...

    u need pch replacement. there should be a code written on it like slrxxx to identify the correct model. that lateral burn mean something burned inside the die.

    hi, first im sorry for the dead laptop. let's see what u can tell about the problem. 1) no light means no ec communication, or short circuit in the main 19volt rail. 2) burn smell: that'0s bad..... a overheated card do not smell that bad... they smell bad when they reach amost the burning temperature point. with these in mind, do you have a multimeter in your house ? does the psu light stay on when connecting them or the psu light goes off ? test with only one charger without the dual adapter.

    the dude sent me the notebook. after taking the top cover apart, i desoldered the bios and programmed with my programmer. notebook is back to working as normal with modded bios 🙂

    back in time i flashed my p870km at least 4 times with fpt and had 0 problem 🙂 PS: with programmer he can use the 8 pin clip, or he has to desolder the bios chip ?

    hi were u able to flash the bios? a dude has a p870 dm2/dm3 and tryed flashing p870dmx.bin bios with fpt , but now he is getting black screen and notebook reboot after 2 mins. what can be the cause ?

    first u have to minimalize the problem. to do so, put an usb flashdrive with a led indicator and put in ur laptop. if it blink, then cpu ram combo are ok, otherwise problem is cpu-ram bios related. only after u have a blinking flash drive u can check if it is a vga problem. caps lock not blinking can also indicate a bad pch or bad cpu ram bios .

    problem with shunt mod is not temperature related. it give the gpu more current , regardless of the manufacturer standard. for silicon propriety, more current u give in long term, more it will need in the future. for esample, now gpu will need 0,8volt 100A. after 2 years it will need 0,82volt and 102A. with shunt mod u give gpu 1.1volt and 120A. after 2 year it will need to stay stable at same clock with first shunt mod install 1,2volt and 130A. after a while the bga will not work even with much more overvolting. there are a lots of discussion and video on yt about shunt mod vga failure.

    most of the shunt gpu mod killed the bga in long term use. i wouldnt do that. u can try oc the gpu core based on the optimal vcore. it's much better to have a stable notebook then a faster one 🙂

    it's a 3080. for heatsink, if we compare price vs performance, the home made tshape heatsink at a cost of 47€is the best u can get with decent temperature. then there is the t-shape from viktor for 150-200$. maybe ytour vapor champer is first for performance, but for 400-600€ i would never get that money back. also the x170 has native vapor chamber for the 30xx series so it will be more cheap to sell the p870 and get an x170 instead of spending too much on a heatsink. also for the 40xx series. i wouldnt go for it as that vga doesnt have external power and when first 1070 mxm comes out without external power, almost all of them died after a while.

    hi today i finally modded my second heatsink. tomorrow ill assembly all and test. it was not that hard to modify it , and for 47€i think this would be the best heatsink for p870 series....

    hi i,ve ordered another of that heatsink some weeks ago. code is : 6-31-P872N-401 and i got it from aliexpress for 49€ ship included. u can find it here: p870km t shape heatsink for gtx 10x0 series. one is for 10 series gtx and the other is for gtx 980 desktop bga. now i dunno if i should cnc the ram pad without heating the heatsink or go full process and maybe attach to my modded heatsink pad ...

    im glad u had the pads fit perfect. what temperature u reach max ? remember that now is winter time, and lots of 1070, 1080 that were cooled by one heratsing only radiator got killed overtime. with my old 1070 and double heatsink like u i had max temp of 75° even in summer time. card is still working after so many years. u can also unvervolt the gpu. for the 200watt mod if i remember correctly, there is a bios to unlock that power. it should be easy to flash via dos, but u need to find the correct thread.
