  1. hi mate, I struggled to get the RTX 3000 working on my 18: Key to success is to cut the fins with a dremel IOT fit the HS into the case (I had to cut at least 3mm of fin to fit the HS). That was a real pain as it's really fragile (wrap the fins into shatterton at first to avoid them breaking when you use the dremel to cut them)
  2. Hi fellas! I just finished my installation of Quadro RTX 3000 on my AW 18, and it rocks!! Modding was a real pain in the arse: - cutting the heatsink was mandatory - cutting the fins was also necessary IOT fit the displaced HS into the chassis - glueing one nut was needed to secure the card on the MB - I also added a piece of metal to streghthen the card onto the MB Modded inf was also needed for driver installation (the easy part actually as I'm used to modding nvidia drivers 🙂 ) Card runs cool despite the fact I have (only) the 75W heatsink, with around 72°C after a run of 3DMark Thanks a lot for the different tutorials, here and on NBRarchive. BTW I have unlocked BIOS A12 (many thanks to ssj92 for sharing all unlocked AW BIOSes here), I wonder if I can extract a bit more juice of my 4810mq (like force max turbo bins or something)? Or do I absolutely need 4930mx for overclocking?
  3. You can always change it afterwards by performing a bios backup then edit the bios with hex editor then reflash with fpt
  4. Hi mate. With New MB check you have a correct service tag set. If ST is bad, alienfx won't work
  5. Price: 350€ OBO Condition: used - working Warranty: none Reason for sale: not enough spare time to play with it.... Payment: Paypal F&F Item location: FRANCE Shipping: inland via La Poste / Mondial Relay International shipping: yes, contact me for quote (Mondial Relay possible for nearby countries, La Poste for rest of the world) Handling time: 5 days max Feedback: old member of Notebookreview forum (johnbb for those who remember 🙂 [Click and drag to move] ) and active member of french forum hardware.fr Specifications: Quadro RTX 3000 6GB GDDR5 Frend of mine sold it to me when he updated his Zbook G6 to RTX 5000. It's been lying around ever since as I don't have time to take care of it. It's not exactly standard MXM 3 type B (offset mounting holes) so it needs a great deal of workmanship to adapt the card in any laptop except Zbook 17 G6. Card is reported to be working on Alienware: ADLINK also produces RTX 3000 but in standard MXM form factor. On the other hand, price is super high IIRC (1.5k$) Proof of ownership: Time Stamped pictures
  6. Hi mate, Glad you're back on your feet buddy ! Did you try a CH341A with SOIC8 adapter (crocodile clip)? I costs only a few bucks on Ali or ebay. I got a few laptop back to life with that wonderful thing, including a few AW. If you need the software for BIOS flashing or BIOS dump, PM me
  7. Hi, Strange you have bad results with p106m. I tested the card on MSI GT60 / 70, on Alienware 17 & m17x R4 (needs unlocked bios to be in SG mode), DELL M6700 (needs OPTIMUS on) and HP ZBook (needs OPTIMUS on) and it works flawlessly. I have around 2500pts on time spy. Only caveat is that the frequency is very low (1290Mhz) and there's no BOOST on this one. Second problem is BIOS structure is different to Geforce 1060 GTX so all registers are different... It's a shame because the card runs super cool (60° on full load on MSI GT60, even less on Alienware). Be aware that on Dell Precision & Zbook you loose all external output except VGA (as HDMI/DP are linked to PCIe mxm directly). On MSI GT & Alienware, outputs are OK though.
  8. Hi everyone, I've got my hands on some GP106-505-kc-A1 (Tesla p106m server cards). They work perfectly fine with OPTIMUS on MUXLESS laptops (GT60 / GT70 / Clevo P150 - 170 EM&SM series / Alienware M17x R4 & R5 or M18x R2 & 18R1 in SG mode) but there is absolutely no way to output directly (no wired edp or dp nor hdmi out). Other caveat is the vbios: frequency is severely hampered as there's no boost. Core clock is 1291Mhz and GDDR5 clock at 1500Mhz. MSI Afterburner does not offer the option to lock core freq / voltage like a regular pascal card. So basically there's no software way to overclock. Does anyone know how to edit BIOS to be able to overclock? Thanks a lot here's the link to the vbios: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/234576/234576
  9. IIRC Tesla M6 cannot be crossflashed with M5000M vbios as physical layout is slightly different. As it has no wired video port, Tesla M6 needs OPTIMUS to work, and your P150HM does not have optimus (only EM and SM series do). Sorry mate
  10. you need to install modded nvidia drivers to get the p106m to work (2 inf files need modification). Mine is shown as Geforce 1060 GTX on device manager. I'd be curious to see the card work on your m6600, as it's commonly known that dell m6600 has crippled bios and cannot accept newer cards than Fermi
