  1. If AMD struggle to sell out their AM5 platform and Zen4 chips this year and instead hope it will increase into 2023 then you'll have Intel with a brand new platform who will run into 2025. And new tech is out then. AMD need to do something now... Not late spring next year or coming summer. Then it's too late. Also don't forget that many will keep their platform up to 5 yerars without the need for change. They just put in a new graphics card and keep on. I know... My sons do the same. And they are both gamers. Not as old pa😄 You won't be able to sell much of the new expensive platform if you continue pump out old hardware as below. And low sales of the new AM5 platform means AMD/partners have to pay more for the parts for the MB (see article above). Aka low sales of the new MB's means they are stuck at high prices and can't sell it cheaper than it is. One of AMDs problems... People don't want to pay for overpriced HW. "This is fantastic news for those on the AM4 platform that were dreading the prospect of not only having to buy a +++$400-ish processor, but also a $200+ motherboard and optionally new DDR5 memory." RTX 4090 & 53 Games: Core i9-13900K vs Ryzen 7 5800X3D Review REVIEW GRAPHICS CARDS Intel's new 13900K offers amazing gaming performance, thanks to improvements to caches, IPC and higher operating frequencies. But is that enough to beat the 3DV Cache-powered AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D? What about platform cost?
  2. Have seen several with exactly same problems. Could be sBios/Mb don’t play well with the cards. People start up and everything works well with the card running with all 16 lanes then come back and see only 8. Very random. And sometimes it is stuck with 8 lines all times. Mostly seen on Z690 boards.
  3. Me thinking a lot of the fire is due the new modern connectors not propperly connected. They need to be perfectly connected. JonnyGuru almost killed many of the adapers and proper 12VHPWR connectors/cables in his testing. Almost killed them and still no failures. And he have done testing several months and tested many of them. I imagine this mess is hard for Nvidia to try explain the gamers7consumers. A new mounting manual in the GPU package won't fix this. Many don't seems to understand how it important this is to follow. Gaming first, then fire, LOOL And this is from AMDs HQ looking into reddit threads right now....
  4. Then they will be sued for false advertising. Both Nvidia and their AIC partners will have even more to think about😄 If they can't fix this the proper way they are in deep trouble. What you say reminds me all too much about Dell's AREA-51M jokebook flagship fiasco from Dell Alienware. Dell was forced to castrate the firmware to stop their trashbooks from burning up.
  5. I expect we will se many cases with smoke and fire forwards if nvidia can't find the culprit 🙂 And it will be a lot less profits if they have to adjust the prices the way @electrosoft suggested. NVIDIA produced over 100,000 RTX 4090 units thus far By Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/04/2022 07:54 PM Since the NVIDIA GeForce, RTX 4090 graphics card came out about a month ago, at least 100,000 of them have been sold, according to data. Read more LOOOL...........
  6. Not easy being Nvidia right now. They are into an Firestorm, HaHa RTX 4090 Woes Get Worse: Native 16-Pin Reportedly Melts as Well No one is safe. Have to deal with fire and AMD's new released cards better prices won't be easy. Not sure what's worse for them, LOOL Only 3 cards have gone up in smoke today. As a sidenote... JonnyGuru (from Corsairs Research and development (R&D)) have deleted his reddit account, his quotes and threads. I wonder how deep this nvidia melting tragedy sits. The cancer from angry reddit users pushed him away. The small kids should instead have flooded nvidia support with their anger. Or just buy older gen nvidia graphics or go with AMD😎
  7. If the sales of AM5 don’t make a huge sales this year and only will increase next year, AMD has only a few months to do it before Intel is out with a brand new platform. The longer AMD will wait for price reductions will only gain Intel.
  8. The 4080 aint out. And they can manage reduce prices for 4090 down to sub 1500$. Then replace the 4080 price point with an 4080Ti. Put the 4080 back to the price point it was before. Aka only the 4090 owners will be angry. Just pay back $$$ to AIB partners (the difference). As it looks now... Nvidia will loose money and market shares once the new cards pop out from AMD. Better change it now while they have the chance (this will help on - less angry buyers of the launched cards as well). Being in own league offer the most expensive cards (not a very high performance lead) well over its competitor, doesn't make it easier to keep up market shares. Intel learned their lesson with Raptor lake. On time Nvidia do the same. AMD have same problem as nvidia now have, with their Ryzen Zen 4 chips. The sales dosn't looks great. They are bad.
  9. <With the market conditions at the time they didn't have to> Remember the (higher end) nvidia cards is more expensive to produce than the glued together AMD cards). And Nvidia isn't known for reducing prices for their whole GPU stack if they aren't forced to do so. We''ll see. But one thing for sure.... They need a card around 1000-1100$ to keep up market shares. They just can't let AMD eat more of it. <As for pricing if Nvidia really wants to compete. Keep the 4090 $200 more than the 7900xtx, 4090ti is a true halo product at $1499 adjust down accordingly to compete> People that want the best will gladly pay +-1500$ for 4090. And they would gladly pay 1800$ for a full fat 4090Ti 🙂 And Nvidia And the majority of gamers ain't in this segment, so. Why give away profits for nothing? Nope, that won't fit Ngreedia.
  10. nvidia didn't change prices for 3090 when 3090 Ti popped up (And why should they now as there is no competition for the performance crown?). Nvida have screwed up very hard with the launch of 4000 series. Where should they put 4080Ti if they shrink prices? They need a card around 1000-1100$ to push AMDs best card of the cliff. And that won't be from the 4080. Only 4080Ti can do that.
  11. If Amd can't compete for the performance crown. Why should Nvidia release 4090Ti sooner than later? 4090Ti will fit well as mid cycle upgrade (same arc have 2 years cadence). Better for <nvidia milk as long they can with 4090 at $1600 and let the AIB partners continue with $1600-2000 custom cards. I can't see a single reason Nvidia would kill this chance for profits on cut down silicon. It doesn't make sense change the 4090 price point before they are force to. Nvidia's problem was that they priced 4080 wrong. And they destroyed the chance to put correct price point for an 4080Ti.
  12. Beacause he is that good. No one is on his level😉 The bill reflect the skills The charge reflect the skills, LOOL
  13. DDR5 SO-DIMM offer disgusting timings and not very high ram speed. I just can't see DDR5 is a good value with laptops. And for most of the laptop models (most brands) you can't tune the ram settings in bios. Almost as soldered ram chips but replaceable. You will be stuck with what the bios accept and what the engineers will give you of options. Be happy with what you have bro ryan 🙂 Even with desktops the DDR5 sticks won't make a huge difference vs good quality high speed DDR4.
  14. I saw this. Noctua have started sell anti-vibration gaskets meant for water cooling radiators. I checked the price on Amazon. Wopping $9.90 for a pack of thin sheet of brown or black rubbers. Whats wrong with todays tech manufacturers bean counters? Don't they see there is something very wrong with how they put the prices? This is even more expensive than many good cooling fans. Pervers. And only $4 below paying for a real Noctua fan. Yep, this is disgusting. And what if you need the 4th rubber gasket? Pay the same $10 twice for the second package or $20 for all 4 rubbers if you have an 480 mm rad? At least put in 4 of them in a package for same awful price. Buy it? Nope. Hell freeze before I jump on such a deal. 5 pack fans for $15. Something is very wrong if Noctua has to sell this piece of thin flimsy rubber for 70-75% prices of what 5x 120mm fans costs. Even Nvidia isn't on this level of stupidity!!
  15. You still mean Nvidia can and will charge 1600$ for the vanilla and 2000$ for the custom 4090 cards? And where will they place 4090Ti into this? Heck, the 4090Ti will be an improvement and maybe nvidia place it right below 2000$ or in best case 1900$. This will kill all the custom 4090 sales. Every single of them. And 1200$ for 4080. Then we have a possible 4080Ti in the stack. Where will they put this card? AMD have closed all te rooms for Nvidia as I see it. If AMD offer a good performer they will change where Nvidia will have to put the prices for better their cards. Or they will loose a lot of market shares. Fancy features or not over AMD doesn't matter. What matter is if the people is willing to spend much above 1000$. A few will do, but sales of 4090/4090Ti from 1600-2500$ will be slim. All they have to compete with forwards is an overpriced 4080@1200$ cards. This card should have never been above 700$. In worst case 799$ due greed and money inflation.
  16. My best guess... AIB partners will take an advantage of the ok'ish prices from AMD. They have a big opportunity now to increase profits for the better custom 7900 SKUs. This because custom Nvida cards is priced well above 1600$ and around same or slightly lower performance shouldn't cost "cheap" 999$. Don't expect that the gamers will benefits from more normal price points from AMD. The best gamers can do now is to buy the cheaper SKUs at 1000$ and skip the more expensive custom cards. See... More power to the buyers. But will they? Probably because we live in times with less money in our hands.
  17. Just lovely. And Nvidia has to offer more than fire, melting smoke and 1.5K cards. Even if the AMD card offer less performance than 4090 it will kill sales of higher end Nvidia cards. As a footnote... Nvidia wanted disgusting price for their castrated 4080@12GB cards. Of course they removed their scam from the release. This AMD release come at a perfect time. Hope nvidia will burn in with cards costing above $999. AMD announces $999 Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Radeon RX 7900 XT for $899 Middle Norway. You don't need go longer North as (above the Arctic Circle) to see the Northern Light. But I would gladly swapped out the nice phenomenom for better weather/more sun lights (the whole year).
  18. An interesting tidbit into AMD's problem. Offer less performance vs its competitor and increased costs. AMDs problem is... If they lower the prices on the new platform to try compete, this will take a huge hit on profits. Old inventory and too high prices have its cost. Why AMD’s Ryzen 7000 and Motherboards Cost So Damn Much tomshardware.com By Paul Alcorn published Today Zen 4 has a pricing problem https://www.tomshardware.com/news/why-amds-ryzen-7000-and-motherboards-cost-so-damn-much As you can see, the Ryzen 7000 series has a pricing problem. And that’s before we account for overclocking, which brings Raptor’s incredible clock speeds to bear and allows even the cheapest Intel chip, the Core i5-13600K, to beat AMD’s fastest gaming chip, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Intel's chips do require more robust cooling due to their peak power consumption, which is higher than all the competing AMD processors in each price band, but AMD's other pricing issues outweigh those additional cooling costs. As a footnote regarding additional cooling costs... You'll need decent cooling also for Ryzen Zen 4 chips. So I can't see this as an huge advantage in any form or shape. If you want the best out of your purchase then you'll need to pay more. Air cooling is out of questin if you go for the higher end SKUs. This regardless if you prefer the blue or the Red pill. Regardless of these big performance disparities, AMD hasn’t budged on chip pricing, and there could be several reasons. First, AMD has excess Ryzen inventory on the market. The company recently announced that it would try to burn excess inventory throughout the entire fourth quarter of this year — and it might not be able to sell all of it by then. That means a big oversupply of 7nm Ryzen 5000 chips must be sold, so AMD might wait to adjust pricing on the newer chips until after the inventory drawdown.
  19. The Norwegian snow is still lacking around Papusan's plaza🙂 But we have got the darn dreaded northern dark. Before 5:00 PM and we live in the utter dark here home (A living HELL). I still stand on that AMD can't compete in performance with water cooled setups. Just look on the bot. Yep, not out of the box (that was more I talking about the SP failure due Intel's shoddy engineering on the ILM). The use of 25% cheaper 6nm silicon paired with a small 6nm silicon could be a game changer from AMD. I hope they aren't as stupid as they did with Zen4 and AM5 platform (all too expensive). AMD NAVI 31 GPU has been pictured videocardz.com https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-navi-31-gpu-has-been-pictured
  20. What is this? No performance gain in productivity/workloads with the mid cycle re-freshed Cpu? Yep, you will probably have a gain in gaming but AMD should also offer higher overall performance in other tasks.... @Mr. Fox would you be happy with a Cpu refresh that offered nothing more than uplift in gaming? If you are not a gamer, then whats the point with the mid cycle refresh from AMD? A possible slightly better bin but with same clock speed? Hmmm. This information originates with Tom Wassick, who does semiconductor packaging stuff for IBM. One thing we shouldn't expect from the Ryzen 7000 "X3D" processors is improved performance in productivity apps. While AMD's had a solid lead on Intel for the last couple of CPU generations in productivity, Intel's more-or-less evaporated that lead with its latest 13th-generation processors while taking a small lead in gaming, too. It will be fascinating to see if AMD can blow past Intel in gaming with 3D V-cache once again. Zen 4 Delidding Hints At A Big Bandwidth Bump For Ryzen 7000 3D V-Cache CPUs hothardware.com AMD want to get rid of the 5800X3D chips so they can push people/gamers/creators over on the much more expensive AM5 platform. The soon EOL 5000 serie (X3D) chips have stolen all the thunder from 7000 series chips and AM5 platform. Lower profits due people want the much cheaper 5000 series chips need new thinking. I as well would try something like this 🙂 Lower the prices on the brand new Zen 4 and AM5 would in the end cost AMD a lot more. Many ways to keep up prices (manipulating the market to keep up ASP isn't something new). But this can hit back. Ryzen 7 5800X3D price slashed to US$329 as AMD discounts Zen 3 CPUs in the US https://www.notebookcheck.net/Ryzen-7-5800X3D-price-slashed-to-US-329-as-AMD-discounts-Zen-3-CPUs-in-the-US.666023.0.html AMD has also slashed prices for other Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. The Zen 3 flagship Ryzen 9 5950X which was introduced at US$799 now goes for US$549. The Ryzen 9 5900X has also seen a discount and you can now get one from AMD for US$349 (former MSRP of US$549). Finally, prices for the Ryzen 7 5800X and the Ryzen 5 5600X have also been cut by US$200 and US$140 respectively. The chips now cost US$249 and US$159. All Zen 3 CPUs mentioned here also include a free copy of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection video game.
  21. A couple of fast benches to see if the chips works as it should. I wish Intel could deliver a few more P-cores instead of the flod with babies. Imagine this chips come with 16 P-cores and reduced some of the E-cores. https://hwbot.org/submission/5112151_papusan_pifast_core_i9_13900k_9sec_230ms?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5112142_papusan_cinebench___r23_multi_core_with_benchmate_core_i9_13900k_44090_cb You'll need LN2 for AMD's latest and greatest Ryzen Zen4 to come on par with an water cooled Intel chips😮 @jaybee83 isn't that correct? Or maybe I'm wrong?
  22. You probably need to wiggle it loose. But be gentle. You mean this little beauty? Stupid new features is the norm nowadays. So what you experience is as expected. ASRock Launches 13.3-inch Display for Mounting Inside the Case Today, 14:37 A while back, some ASRock motherboards showed up with an eDP connector, which seemed odd, as outside of the embedded market or notebooks, eDP isn't commonly found. ASRock has now revealed what it's for, namely a 13.3-inch display, or side panel kit as the company calls it. In other words, this is a 13.3-inch display that mounts inside your case, assuming you have a tempered glass side panel. It's meant to be used as a secondary display, rather than just being some kind of diagnostics tool, which similar products on the market today end up being. However, ASRock provides a custom eDP cable with a 40-pin connector, as well as four mounting brackets, some cable clips and even extra adhesive strips, in case you'd want to move the display to a new case in the future. The panel measures 300.26 x 193.01 mm (W x H), so it might not fit all cases. ASRock also points out that you need to have a clear, transparent tempered glass side panel for optimal usage of the display, as a tinted panel would for obvious reasons reduce the light that could be transmitted through the glass. The panel is compatible with the ASRock Z790 LiveMixer, Z790 Pro RS/D4, Z790M-ITX WiFi, Z790 Steel Legend WiFi, Z790 PG Lightning, Z790 Pro RS, Z790 PG Lightning/D4, H610M-ITX/eDP and B650E PG-ITX WiFi motherboards. Useless features only increase the complexity and price of the products. But this is well known. Overpowered VRM specs etc is meant to push price point higher than ever. They can't do that if they don't offer some new/more value over previous product models.
  23. You said the sheath braiding seems tighter on my EVGA 1600W T2 than on my Thermaltake 1650W GF3. When I looked on the spare part cable from Thermaltake's webpage I saw that the brading around the cable was pretty loose. Hence I asked "maybe wrong wording"... I should rather asked if they looked equal (the whole cable). Because making different versions of the sam cable is stupid. Remember thermaltake differenciate the design for the cables in the PSU package (the 12VHPWR cable is braided, the other ones are flat). So there is no reaason to make several design and matriale used for this new cable. Put it on the Papusan list of learning... My english isn't always 110% perfect. So, thanks bro John 🙂 Regarding 3rd party connectors/cables for nvidia's new burning inferno... It voids the warranty. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/right-angle-16-pin-connector-may-save-a-lot-of-rtx-4090-gpus Updated 10/26/2022 9:00 pm PT: Added the relevant information about the usage of third-party adapters from Nvidia documentation included with the GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition. "Use only the included PCIe Gen 5 compliant power connector adapter for your GeForce RTX 40-series Founders Edition graphics card. Use of non-compliant or third-party power connector adapters may cause technical issues, and may void your manufacturer warranty." Heck, all should avoid NVIDIA'S melting disaster. And nvidia should be happy people use 3rd party parts from reputable brands if they are better quality than the frying cable from the green goblins. Haha. And thanks🙂
  24. HaHa. I knew you got a new PSU with the needed cables. How is the cable from your PSU vs the one Thermaltake sell on their store? And yep, I know you wouldn't buy cables on Aliexpress🙂 The offering (to stop the smoke and melting) from Thermaltake. Yep, not from Alienxpress😀
  25. Congrats my friend. Hope you both enjoyed the day 🙂 Me and my wife have been married 27 years. And have been together 32 year 🙂 Love is a good thing bro Fox. So send my best blessings to your lovely wife. The dam stupid bend mess from Intel eat up all my better thermal paste. Got it work at 3rd or 4th try. Was stuck at 800MHz and the SP prediction was total wacko. As a footnote. Idiocy in high potense that you need to take out the Cpu from the socket, then clear cmos (or flash new/old bios with it's risk) if the Asus SP prediction fail due intel's stupid made ILM. How dificult is it to let the clear cmos button do the job, Asus? Halfbaked. Here is few pict for bro @electrosoft You miss my "all black" crocs?😀 With the Governments robbery (25% tax) the chips cost $818 here home. Withous the greed the 13900K would cost around $615. SP101 (P111 and 83 for the babies) right out of the box. I will probably keep it. There is lack of chips here home also. And Asus follow Dell and added a new useless feature in bios. A temp cap alla Dell's TCC offset. Where do they get all the great idas from?
