Here as well. Most of the new 850W PSUs haven't enough 8pin connectors to power up 7900 series AMD graphics cards. What a failure. You need buy their top end models if you want to go with the new and shiny AMD graphics cards. Isn't that cute? bro @Mr. Fox😀 You go with AMD because they offer the cheapest new graphics cards but you have to buy the more expensive PSUs to power them up, LOOL How dificult was it to use the head? You need 3 power connectors for the CPU/MB and 3 for the new AMD cards. And yet, the overpaid enginners couldn't do the math and see this. Blinded by own talent?😕 @ryanwhat is a genius? Put it this way. Asus said they have saved up the best chips for the coming collector model +2500$ Asus 4090 Matrix cards (AIO). In short... The Strix is in the lottery and the low end models get the worst chips. So the best chance to get what to expect is in the low end 🙂 -

Two in a row. This one on top looks quite bad. I would avoid use the 90/180 degrees adapters. Almost all reports of smoke and fire the last month is with those custom adaters. I don't see burned custom/vanilla 12VHPWR cables anymore. A real waste of money if you think such adapter will reduce the chance for fire due because it offer minimum bending of cables. And the aesthetics (form over function) won't be as hoped once the smoke have run out. Save your money and rather buy a PSU specific cable adapter from the PSU manufacturer😎 12VHPWR 180 Degree Angled Adapter Melted. 90 degree adapter melted In short... Regarding binning... I think people get it wrong. They bin "out the worst chips" for the better models. They don't bin for the best chips. Thats a major difference. -

Yep, the shrinkind trend continue. This time Gigabyte. Or shall we rather say cost cuttings to increase profits. I have my doubt this new change from Gigabyte will offer same cooling as the older model. Skinny and thinner design usually come at a costs. This trend have we seen from Apple. And this won't bring any benefits. Maybe for those with the mini PC boxes that will run even hotter now with graphics cards that is adopted for the box design. Making graphics cards that fits the smallest PC boxes will never be a good thing @Mr. Fox Is smaller better? Why not shrink it further and make it a real 2 slots design? Nvidia allows up to above 80C so that don't stop them from more stupid design solutions. Gigabyte Shrinks Cooler, Relocates 16-Pin Connector on Revised RTX 4090 Gigabyte (via Twitter user Vectral) has quietly revised the brand's GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce 24G graphics card. The V2 model features a more compact design, with the 16-pin power connector transplanted to the rear of the graphics card instead of the side placement. Why use the space for more cooling? More metal and longer heat pipes will only increease costs. In short what Gigabut say... Less metal and shorter heat pipes don't make worse cooling capacity... Why not remove even more of the metal and use even shorther heatpipes? They can even save more $$$.... And modern VC cost more. So why spend more money than needed for the cooling? -

Yep, you get normally less old connectors and you get the tiny nvidia connector even on the PSU box side. Both is worse solutions than the old ATX 2.0. You get of course more 8pin connectors on the best high end ATX 3.0 PSUs but many of the so called mid end (now high end) 1000-1350W PSUs barely offer many of those good old solid connectors. Remember you only need 2x 8pin connectors to power the 12VHPWR connection on modern nvidia graphics cards if the PSU is of decent quality. Look at this mess below(same pict as in my older post). If you buy the new AMD AIC 7900XTX cards you can't even use the new and modern 1350W PSUs that cost an arm and a leg. You'll lack one power connector for the 6/8pin connector for the Asus MB. Red box for the GPUs and red cross for the CPU power. The rest is connectors for Sata etc. And those ain't meant to power PCIe 6pin. 5 CPU/PCIe connectors on new modern PSUs is a Joke. You don't need any of the new modern ATX 3.0 PSUs as long nvidia don't require the PCIe 5 connector glued on the PSU shroud. Doesn't matter what GPU brand you go with. Best of both worlds 🙂 The Boat - GTX 980Ti https://hwbot.org/submission/5286632_papusan_3dmark06_geforce_gtx_980_ti_87900_marks?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5286583_papusan_3dmark03_geforce_gtx_980_ti_328868_marks?recalculate=true -

Yep, this is very needed. If they can't compete in raw performance, then compete on price. They could win everything up to 4070 performance and destroy for Nvidia and AMD in mid tier segment. If Nvidia and AMD was forced to reduce prices on mid range this would also drip on high end. Below is the status for mid 2023. Tragic! Not much gain vs two years old graphics cards. Only more expensive. RTX 4060 Ti review roundup depicts GPU performing 12% better vs RTX 3060 Ti but failing to offer any performance/price advantage In other words, the 4060 Ti is essentially a US$399 RTX 3070 when it comes to rasterization and ray tracing performance at FHD resolution. RX 7600 review roundup demonstrates disappointing performance/price vs RX 6600 despite RDNA 3 GPU performing 27% better 3DCenter has now published their launch review roundup of the RX 7600 allowing us to confirm that the RX 7600 indeed offers no price/performance benefit over the RX 6600. The new and modern will easly stop Intel from offering GPUs with 4x 8-pin power connectors. All too many will have the modern PSUs that don't support it. See etc this one.... You have zero 8 pins connectors after you connected the few 8-pins to powering up your Cpu/MB. Nice, with new and modern. You can't even power up your old or almost new graphics cards. No point in 4x 8-pin if Intel go with the lower TDP as mentioned in the video. And then we have the new modern ATX 3.0 PSUs. They crimp on PCIE 8-pin connectors due the new modern Nvidia connector. Etc... If you go with a Apex MB with Intel GPU you'll need a PSU with minimum 7x 8-pin connectors. And that won't happen (4 for the Gpu and 3 for the Cpu/MB). See. I know you like avesome and focus on exelense. Would you like help to update your old firmware without you need to touch it? And wouldn't it be nice if Gigabyte also offered no roll-back option "same as Asus offer" so you don't risk roll back to older unsecure firmware by accident? I just love how the HW manufacturers always try to improve their current and new producs Eclypsium said it is working with Gigabyte to address the insecure implementation of the feature. For what it's worth, Eclypsium found the backdoor on over 260 Gigabyte boards. The full list of affected motherboards has been published for your convenience. Gigabyte shipped hundreds of models of motherboards with a hidden firmware backdoor Cause for concern, or no big deal? Facepalm: Firmware security services provider Eclypsium recently detected what it described as suspected backdoor-like behavior on some Gigabyte systems in the wild. A follow-up analysis revealed Gigabyte is using code in motherboard firmware to quietly run an updater program that connects to the Internet to download and subsequently install firmware updates. I wouldn't be thrilled about a company updating my motherboard's firmware without my approval. What if the new firmware wasn't compatible with my hardware, or messed up my overclock? Is there any reason this so called OC "Garbage" MB from Asus can't stick with CSM Enabled? I need the DVI port to be able to boot the old AMD card (with CSM Enabled). Once I change to newer Display port on the old AMD card then its a lottery when the MB determine to disable CSM or continue with correct bios settings. Once disabled CSM, the pc won't recognize the card and the nice white video lights on the MB come on and stay. And swapping back to old DVI doesn't help. This only happen with older AMD card. Never older nvidia card. If I turn of the pc when running in Uefi mode and put in an very old Nvidia card, the MB fix it easly by itself and swap over to the correct compatibility mode. Is this a buggy AMD trash behaviour, Asus trash OC board who don't like older AMD Asus graphics cards? Or both? Nice... Asus can't even support own older Asus graphics card paired with own MB. And this is a so called OC board intended for benching. A flagship meant to push world records on new and old gen hw. If I wanted a vanilla gamer board for new and shiny hardware I would buy one. And not this Asus mess. I would laugh highly if this board supported other brands old AMD Gpus but not own branded cards. As a reminder. I can't even use the 980 K|ngp|n card with XOC vbios with display port. Only DVi will work with this card on this crappy Asus board. Yep and newer doesn't always mean better. Newer often means cost cutting. Most likely revamped dumbed down for possible price decrease when Nvidia find the right time. Make the card and cooler smaller is most likely to reduce the costs. Not for innovation. MSI Trims Down GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GPU tomshardware.com The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X SlimY 12G is essentially a cut-down version of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio 12G. It features a slightly revamped shroud but sticks to MSI's Tri Frozr 3 cooling system. MSI told Tom's Hardware Deputy Managing Editor Paul Alcorn that an RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 will come later. As the model name insinuates, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X Slim 12G flaunts a more svelte profile than MSI's other GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics cards. That doesn't mean the graphics card is tiny enough to fit inside small form factor (SFF) systems, though. Again... Whats the point with this dumbed down design if many can't put it in their new modern tiny fancy toy boxes? And not the first time Msi have dumbed down their 4070 Ti cards.... This is the Gaming X Trio's Slimy sibling... Despite the solid VRM design, MSI chose to limit the manual adjustment power limit to only 305 W, or +20 W. Maybe this was done to segment the card from the Suprim X, which goes up to 365 W. -

See my post above. Stupid is the new normal. Better have only one 12VHPWR connector on the GPU end of the cable. So in short.... I can happy live with the older PSU standard but with the added 12VHPWR adapter from the PSU manufacturer (2x8pin adapter for 12VHPWR) is a way better than the new ATX 3.0 PSUs. Same with the ATX 3.0 PSUs as todays Jokebooks.... When they add the new modern connector on the PSU side they can remove some of the 8-pin power connectors on the PSU itself. People should be happy they keept their older PSUs. No need for ATX 3.0 PSUs right now. You only get double doses of dumb. And thats just dumb if you ask me😎 You can get the Alphacool Core 120mm fan PWM 3000rpm (120x120x25mm) and Alphacool Core 140mm fan PWM 2500rpm (140x140x25mm). They are very cheap. From $5.5 up to $7.5 for the 140mm. See if you can find them. But remember don't buy the 4000rpm 120mm fans as this is a real whiny server fan. But you get a lot for the money with these Alphacool fans (not the server fan). -

This is why buying an Asus ROG Strix 4090 OC Edition was a hit or miss. Asus saved up the better bins the last months for their new 4090 AIO cards. And you get telemetry on top. Nice. And why? The ROG Matrix RTX 4090 sports only a single 12VHPWR cable. In short cheaper add a sensor that can track if there is something wrong with the 12VHPWR connector. The HOF offer it as well but you also get dual 12VHPWR connector to balance the current between 12 power pins. So this means it was hard (to expensive) to add a second 12VHPWR connector for their flagship. But you got telemetry functionality and loads of bling bling. Nice to have, LOOL As a flagship card, the ROG Matrix RTX 4090 features a Dual BIOS switch, allowing you to seamlessly switch between Quiet and Performance modes. Produced with our Auto Extreme manufacturing process, the entire PCB is soldered in a single, fully automated pass, reducing costs and eliminating the need for harsh cleaning chemicals in between solder passes. The ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 4090 is built with the highest quality components, ensuring peak performance for the life of the card. Nice, if they didn't do the single fully automated pass you would have to pay more. A huge big win for the buyers😀 https://videocardz.com/newz/asus-announces-rog-matrix-geforce-rtx-4090-gpu-featuring-360mm-aio-and-liquid-metal When we first talking about Asus... I give up the compatibility problems between the old AMD Asus graphics card paired with my Asus board. The damn Asus Amd card will only power up when it wants. Mostly never. I only have a white VGA lighs on the board. This is a huge on/off lottery. So I throw the cheapo Asus card in my drawer. And there it will stay until I maybe buy a MB from another manufacurer than ASUS. Maybe it works then. Is it what I think it is? HELP -

I wonder why CableMod/custom cable industri couldn't do the same for their 12VHPWR connectors. Afraid for increased costs? And why didn't Nvidia go for this solution for their adaper that follow every single 4090 package? Again.... It's again about costs. Every extra cents will be transformed into profits. And don't tell me that the overpaid nvidia engineers couldn't find out this by themself. And as you can see...
