  1. Yep, no problem go outside the 8-pin PCI Express power connectors current rating specs if the GPU manufacturer will allov it. But this won't happen. Needed power is only possible in combination with the fragile 12VHPWR connector or 4x 8-pin PCI Express power connectors. And this extra adapter in the GPU package will increase the costs aka reduce AMDs profits. Also adding the 4th needed 8-pin PCI Express power connector on the PCB will increase costs. Going the cheapo route will always come at a cost. Leadership and Efficiency - Perfected by AMD...............😎 A major change for the GPU package only to try coming 2nd will cost AMD a hell lot money. And there was for a reason they only added the XT over X for their older Ryzen Cpus. The AMD way... Being 2nd and keep up max profits. Why is AMD not using GDDR6X? - PC Guide
  2. 3x8 pins ain't enough. AMD will have to change the power connector. Even their best binned dies won't be enough to stay with old fashion 8pin connectors. + we know AMD cut corners where they can (GDDR6vram etc) then they have the cheapo man F. Azor that look at maximum profits over awesome. They can close the gap to 4090 but will never come on par this gen cards. Nvidia don't even need 4090Ti to stay on top as long AMD only look on the bottom line. Or change from... I think the real problem is they don't know how to win to....... I think the real problem is they don't want to win because that will increase costs.
  3. This just show why Nvidia only will offer the minimum of vram for mid-end cards. Force you to upgrade the graphics card every 2nd year. Not a big problem with etc the 4090 (3090). You have already paid extra for the extra vram 🙂
  4. Bro Fox. Want to see something ugly? The new and shiny overpriced 4070 cards offer huge value over the cheaper EOL 3070, LOOL
  5. Same with the Gigabyte board. Just even worse. That board even hate older Nvidia cards. To sum it up... What they want ... You have to buy their newest and greatest so we can make max profits. But this should never ever be the goal for OC boards meant for oc'ing. People/oc'ers that buy OC boards do it for one sole reason... Have fun with new and old hw, get the best the industri can offer and to take 3D world records (both with new and old hw). Asus fail hard in that task. Same with Evga that can't force Nvidia to give them their Sli keys, + don't even have support for some brand new 4090 graphics cards. And Gigabyte who drag it further and only let you install new graphics cards. Just the status of todays tech................ Not sure why a major PSU maker that cater to enthusiasts will force you to use their bloatware to be able to use your expensive HW the way you want. If you want avsome... You need to be in elite/chosen one and ask for special treatments. The rest of us have to accept seconda or trash. It stinks and it sucks.
  6. Installed the 7970 to force the bios to accept AMD. Installed the 7970 and shut down. Put in the 6870 and it booted up. Now I have to find some drivers. Even very old drivers for 7970 won't work with Radeon 6870. One gen older card but don't work the way as nvidia always do. Nice, AMD. Edit. And booted also after driver install 🙂 Secon boot. Edit. Second boot. Into bios to increase clocks. No other changes. Black screen and no sign of life. Nice. Can't see other problems than Asus board don't play well with the old Asus AMD card. Aka double Asus cancer, LOOL Once I pull out the card and put in the 7970 who also have legacy vbios the pc boot up. Hmm We'll see if it survive a re-boot (works as long I don't boot in bios). Run the bench after first re-boot after driver install. The black screen appears when bios shuts down and reboot. Same also if I turn off the pc. Only swapping over to the 7970 will let me boot with the 6870. But you are doomed if you turn off your machine afterwards. It will only survive with a re-boot. What a mess. Asus Radeon HD 6870 https://hwbot.org/submission/5275478_papusan_3dmark05_radeon_hd_6870_53642_marks?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5275477_papusan_3dmark06_radeon_hd_6870_34794_marks?recalculate=true
  7. And it continue.... Gigabyte still offer too high voltage with new bios. Do they check their works? I expect Gigabyte engineers think 1.361V is harmless and well below 1.41V as older bios. Hope they don't do an Asus🙂
  8. Asus try save face... The damage to the brand is already done. Clearly, someone high up at Asus has taken note of the potential damage being done to the brand over the last several days and has decided a strong statement and some extra assurances were warranted for the sake of long-term sales. Asus Responds to AM5 BIOS Controversy: Warranty Covers Beta Fixes, EXPO Presets tomshardware.com Asus: We want to address the concerns that have been raised by our users about whether recent BIOS updates will impact the warranty of ASUS AM5 motherboards. We would like to reassure our customers that both beta and fully validated BIOS updates for ASUS AM5 motherboards are covered by the original manufacturer’s warranty. We would also like to confirm the following points: 1. The ASUS AM5 motherboard warranty also covers all AMD EXPO, Intel XMP, and DOCP memory configurations. 2. All recent BIOS updates follow the latest AMD voltage guidelines for AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors. Furthermore, we would like to reiterate our commitment to supporting the AMD AM5 platform and our customers. For any further inquiries about your ASUS AM5 motherboard, please contact our customer service for support. -- Asus I really love having two PSUs in my big black box. A lot cleaner in the box with the PSU cover intact and with only the needed cables for the new and the old cards🙂 This pict shows the Asus Radeon HD 6870 DirectCU installed. You can see the dual BE QUIET! 12VHPWR adapter cables lying over the HOF crown on right side. And this way it doesn't make the looks inside the box looking as bad as before. I will cut down the lenght and route the tube from the rad to the Aqua Computer high flow NEXT so it looks much better. No hurry for that now. I'll probably make other changes later so I can do it then. The home made black cover around the water tank is to reduce the sun light from attacking the water. I will also make some changes there🙂 We should have had black water tanks for the D5 pumps, LOOL Edit. What stupids that determined that older Asus AMD graphics cards shouldn't have HDMI? Yep... Asus. And what stupids at Asus determined that their Asus bios for newer MB shouldn't talk with older Asus AMD graphics cards? Again... Asus. Nice. Asus offer OC boards that can't be used as intended. Oh'well we live in stupid times now with stupid new tech. Why I never see this with older Nvidia graphics cards bro @Mr. Fox? One more nail in the "not buy" any of the AMD hardware. You risk compatibility problems with next gen motherboards. I have no problem with Legacy or Uefi vbios for nvidia graphics cards. And neither for Legacy vbios for 7970. Just the older Radeon cards it seems. Could of course be a dead card. But I doubt it, it should work from what I heard from the seller (I picked up the card in home town). See my next post. The card booted with the help of 7970.
  9. With all the changes Microsoft do for Secure-boot with new patches and that MSI leaked their Intel signin keys I don't trust what to come from Intel nowadays. And neither from Microsoft. Update: Mysterious Intel patch released for almost every modern CPU We don't know what Intel's patch fixes, and its schedule and scope is a little worrying. ..... So what’s all the fuss about? We don’t know, although Intel did respond. “Microcode 20230512 update released on May 12, 2023 does not contain any security updates and the note, [INTEL-SA-NA], is meant to convey that there are no applicable (Not Applicable) security updates in the package,” an Intel spokeswoman said in an email. “The microcode update includes functional updates only (also documented in product erratum).” So while we still don’t know what the microcode actually fixes, Intel’s response gives us a better idea that the microcode isn’t actually a repeat of the Meltdown and Spectre bugs of 2018. That’s a relief. Functionality updates.... What's that bro Fox? Reduce performance for current chips before the Raptor refresh? Or what functionality updates was so important so they had to be launched before normal schedule? See.... About this release are somewhat concerning. First, Intel released the new CPU microcode as an “out of band” or unscheduled release. You don't offer Out of band patches if this isn't an very important security fix. Say its an functionality update, LOOL. Give me a break. Edit. See also the article from Theregister.com May, 15 2023 https://www.theregister.com/2023/05/15/intel_mystery_microcode/ The fact that this code release wasn’t scheduled on that day signifies that Intel wasn’t aware of the vulnerability then, and felt it was significant enough to release a patch on Friday rather than waiting for next month.
  10. For me it's more the fun with the old. I have lost many years tinkering with desktop HW due we could get real DTR laptops. Going back to play with old desktop parts ain't so hard when you see how it went with laptops. You can change ssd's in Jokebooks but thats almost everything you can do with Apple design. Hope you don't have dried grass in your garden and in risk burn down your neighbors houses, HaHa
  11. Here's Papusan's new baby. Imagine this bro Fox. Your old friend went with AMD😆 But $18.88 USD won't ruin my day. And I don't think AMD will make any profits from me (it will continue as so). Say hello to Asus Radeon HD 6870 DirectCU. Pictures for @electrosoft The performance should be around GTX 470. Not the new 4070😁 And the card is from the old Asus. Not the "new" Asus. The old new price was $184.04 here home in the days.
  12. Wouldn't that be nice? The elite and the choosen one will get the chance to fully rule the 2D and 3D benchmarks. This to show of how good the brands products is (worthless for the rest of us). We are there already today bro Electro (Jokebooks). Then you have AMD and their so called unlocked chips (X3D). So both Intel and AMD is there already today 🙂
  13. I wish we could see the same from Nvidia and AMD graphics (full unlocked graphics cards)🙂 Whats the difference between Cpus and GPUs? Why lock down graphics card but not processors? They both have thermal sensors that will throttle down the HW or just shut it down in worst case. Just look at Nvidia graphics... Throttle down boost clocks already before it see 50C. What are they afraid for? We already have 12VHPWR PCI-E connectors for nvidia graphics (600w). Even dual 12VHPWR PCI-E connectors for the HOF (1200w). So there is no reason be afraid for burned cables/connectors. The worst that can happen is a PSU may trip off due it's security mecanism if the load is too high.
  14. From 17:12 what is AMD thinking? Use your prefered cooler and you'll in short lose your warranty. LOOL
  15. A short warning... Be damn careful to update Asus firmware the coming weeks. They are known for offering "no roll back" with newer bios versions and you may be stuck with something nasty from Intel. Also be careful with coming MC patch updates from Microsoft if you don't know how to get rid of the MC code in the OS afterwards. Intel Deploys Undisclosed Microcode Security Update For CPUs Going Back To Coffee Lake Whatever the security vulnerability may be, it evidently affects many of Intel's platforms, including the latest consumer Intel 13th Generation Core Raptor Lake and 4th Generation Xeon Sapphire Rapids server chips. However, it's the first time that recent lineups, such as Alder Lake-N and Atom C series (Arizona Beach), received a microcode update. The lengthy list includes desktop processors dating as far back as the Coffee Lake days and mobile chips starting from Kaby Lake going forward.
  16. Yep. Have already mentioned this here. God bless those stupids that will buy the 8GB version…. https://notebooktalk.net/topic/109-official-benchmark-thread-post-it-here-or-it-didnt-happen-d/?do=findComment&comment=32270&_rid=79
  17. 1080P in 24" should be swapped to 1440P and this will increase costs further. And not sure how you can take with you this on a flight. Is this below a joke or a sad story about greed? Gamers will now get the choice between plague and cholera if they have a fixed amount money to spend (see bolded text). Or loan up more with your credit card to pay more for the more expensive graphics card with vram in no-mans land (4070@12GB). New 8 and 12GB mid-range nvidia card should never have seen the light in 2023 but nvidia want you to upgrade within two years to be able to play next gen games. This is greed. Not a Joke. Or it could be both? Enjoy your weekend If the two variants are close in terms of price, then gamers will have to make their choice based on whether their favorite games need 16GB of memory, or a higher-performing GPU with 4352 CUDA cores. Or perhaps go with more expensive GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB or even GeForce RTX 4070 with 12GB. Nvidia Reportedly Prepping RTX 4060 with 16GB of VRAM Nvidia expected to offer fourth GeForce RTX 4060 model.
  18. I fix it for you 🙂 You need compare the correct SKU. And you can't say a 13600K is faster than a 12900K. They don't have same amount cores so can't be compared. Same apply also for graphics cards.
  19. They will continue. Nothing will change! All companies will try maxing out profits from their cheapo made (often defective) products. It's in their nature/blood. They all will try to screw you one or another way. Here is Lian Li that went the cheapo route... They have no problem with selling you defective products. And they know 100% for sure that their defective products will make problems for the buyers within a couple of years (see bolded text below). The AIO dying continues merrily: Lian Li Galahad 360 (1st version) with complete constipation (purchase warning) igorslab.com In the case of the Lian Li Galahad 360 of the 1st version (and also the identically constructed Galahad 240), I have to issue an explicit purchase warning, because such a product should be completely taken off the market. Since there is now a version 2 (certainly for a good reason), it is completely incomprehensible to me that Lian Li simply leaves the defective product on the market. Here the total failure is already included in the purchase.
  20. And the 273K views the last 6 hours ago doesn't exactly help Asus sell more of their hardware. Then add the 514K views from Gamers Nexus Scumbag ASUS video and you get a clearer picture. Yep, Asus is on fire....
  21. I really hope this won't happen...... Blockchain companies want to recoup GPU investment with AI and HPC. I would rather they sell the GPUs in the used market and hope it hit Nvidia and AMD where it hurts most. Cryptominers try to pivot GPU farms to AI workloads after crypto decline Seems Asus and AMD. The two big A branded companies is a "hot" topic in the comment section😆 A preview.... What to expect. 22. Yep. And I could see the beQuiet power protection in work in real time (never failed), LOOL They are out with a new 1600W PSU. I'm very happy with their previous flagship, but with the second PSU I don't see the need now 🙂 be quiet! Announces Dark Power Pro 13 1300W and 1600W ATX 3.0 Power Supplies By Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/09/2023 02:19 PM | 9 comment(s) ] This successor to the award-winning Dark Power Pro 12 series presents a future-proof way to update your system by offering full ATX 3.0 compatibility for next-generation PCIe 5.0 graphics cards, and comes in two wattage classes: 1300 and 1600 watt. And with dual 12VHPWR connector. Read more From the comment section... The more and more heavy weigted 1000D box may need a new wheel plate😆 The new 750W PSU on left side. For 2250W total power and loads of power connectors.
  23. It's alive again. The problem was the power short due trash products from Corsair. Now the question... I mean the lights for the front panel and Corsair flag on the Corsair chassis is with proprietary connector (3 pin ARGB). Not the usual 5v 3 pin ARGB Gen 2. What's the options? This just show that Asus isn't the only one making bad products and offer bad QC for their cheapo made overpriced products. Without the unwanted disgusting ARGB shit show products, this no post mess wouldn't happen. More unwanted junk just lead to more failures. More of everyhing doesn't always mean better. Just away to charge more for nothing of value. Btw. Thanks for the help and suggestions 🙂
  24. I will try mount it back and power up a bit later. I only used the iCUE Com PRO box for two slow spinning fans on the back/rear side. As well power the two orginal Corsair Lighning for the front Corsair flag (Maybe total of 8W together). Never touched this after I put together the machine in early spring the previous year. Maybe I touched the cable to make a bit more room for routing the extra 8-pin cables when I mount the second PSU. A load of cables behind the French doors as it is. And of course the weakest point (the bling bling plastic box I never ever touch screw up). And I have never liked the Sata connectors. They are weak and flimsy. Better quality plastic from PSU manufacturers but I think the extra gears from a few HW gear companies use more flimsy and cheaper plastic quality. The DELL way.
  25. Thanks, bro John. I mean have found the problem. Haven't started up the machine yet, but have troubleshooted the power from the PSU cables. With the Corsair iCUE Com PRO Smart RGB Lighting and Fan Speed Controller connected to the PSU, this will shorts the power. Aka the PSU protection turn of the PSU with Corsair junk connected to the sata connector. I will connect up all the MB connectors and try start it up later this evening. So not the MB or PSU. Just the cheapo plastic box for the bling bling from Corsair. And I don't even use that thingy for fans.
