  1. Probably not enough... But you didn't get what to expect for more money. At least, the custom cables should be on equal quality. Not less. I don't lke form over functionality. This was also one of the main reasons I jumped from laptops.
  2. Higher drop in voltage just means the cable quality/build quality is lower. So pay more get less😎 Very low voltage (or below specs) indicate something is wrong. Or you just bougth the cheapest PSU you could find (often much cheaper for a reason). The fancy custom cables/adapters is for looks. But it won't provide much benefits over what you get with high quality PSU package. And if the CableMod custom cables offer lower 12v lowes (higher voltage drops), they offer even less. Is less more bro @Mr. Fox?
  3. But, but. Isn't added RGB/bling control appealing? Gamers and bling bling jockey's will love it. How this Windows Beta OS looks and feels has to better than stability and performance going downwards due more added useless features/services and ongoing patch problems every damn month. Microsoft simplifies RGB control with "Dynamic Lighting" in Windows 11 https://www.igorslab.de/en/microsoft-vereinfacht-rgb-steuerung-mit-dynamic-lighting-in-windows-11/ -------------------------------------------------------------- Hmmm. Maybe my English is not perfect or do I read this correct? The Nvidia adaper dongle offer higher average voltage for the 12v rails than the fancy CableMod kit.... Do I read it wrong? From my understanding the Nvidia dongle offer less drop in 12v voltage. In short you pay more for less. These voltages look ok ?
  4. Finallly got a working software for increasing voltage for HD6870. MSI Afterburner could only do clocks and memory. Same also with Evga software. Even Asus own newer OC' tools don't work properly with own products. https://hwbot.org/submission/5282608_papusan_aquamark_radeon_hd_6870_515035_marks?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5282602_papusan_3dmark05_radeon_hd_6870_55611_marks?recalculate=true https://hwbot.org/submission/5282612_papusan_3dmark06_radeon_hd_6870_35468_marks?recalculate=true
  5. LoooL. Enjoy 🙂 What's next? Steve being called out for being paid shill? HaHaHa And AMD screwed up for the old power connector standard.... Radeon RX 7600 is not compatible with all power connectors Graphics card yesterday 17:01 The design around the reference board's power connector means that some 6+2 pin connectors cannot be pushed all the way in. The problem mainly affects power connectors of the 6+2-pin type, where two of the connector pins "hang" to the side. The plastic edge that locks the two extra pins to the rest of the connector is in some cases too high and receives a protruding edge from the graphics card's cover plate. A design oversight prevents some power connectors from being fully inserted. So AMD outsource design jobs to less educated engineers to cut costs further? Hmmm. If not.... Why try reinvent the wheel? AMD's Reference RX 7600 Card Doesn't Fit Some 6+2-Pin Connectors Lack of full insertion of the connector hasn't caused any "meltdowns" as far as we can tell, unlike NVIDIA and its RTX 4090 connectors. That's likely because AMD's RX 7600 design flaw means the power connector will either fit or it won't. But why do this possible in first place? In conclusion, AMD has ensured that none of the cards with the power connector design flaw make it to customers, while it works on a revision that comes out "over the coming weeks." Good job! AMD Confirms: RX 7600 Reference Cards in Retail will Not Have Power Connector Flaw
  6. GTX 980 - 3DM 2001 https://hwbot.org/submission/5281914_papusan_3dmark2001_se_geforce_gtx_980_209690_marks?recalculate=true
  7. I mean the ITX boards have only single 8pin socket to feed the Cpu. Well on the brink with an oc'd 13900K. The cheaper atx boards come with 8+4. Maybe OK with an oc'd 12900K/KS but I would think twice going with an oc'd 13900K. Edit. I think CableMod need sell 200 adapters to come break even paying for the customers 4090🙂 This if they can manage a nice 30% profits after all costs with the adaper/cable. Variant B Adapter Melted 2 hours ago 10 minutes into gaming tonight, my adapter began to melt. I started smelling burnt plastic and my PC began to fill up with smoke. I've played on this build for 5 months now with zero issues. I decided to get an angled adapter to avoid the possibility of having my GPU damaged due to a bent cable........ Bubbles Bubbles everywhere 🙂 Regarding to Techspot editor's advice above... This wouldn't happen with an ATX 3.0 PSU, LOOL
  8. It was a problem for many 3090 cards. MSI also used pads for the Suprim cards that bleed out. And I expect vram temps on used cards ain't equal good as they was when the card was new. At least not on the 3090 vs 3090Ti. GDDR6X in 3080 and 3090 Hits 110C While Mining ... Used cards whatever they are used for mining or gaming... You may need change the thermal pads. At least for the bottom row vram for 3090. The bottom vram ain't good enough cooled.
  9. Yep, can't see the 12VHPWR connector is major problem for the 3000 series flagshisp. If he find a similar priced 3090Ti as 3090 I would jump on that (depending on the model of the card of course). Getting all vram under same heatsink is nice to have if you don't bother or have the time tear down the 3090 to replace the bottom vram pads with better pads. But you probably don't know the vram temps before you use the card. Nvidia solved the high bottom vram temps with the Ti card. What I don't like with the older FE models is the locked down board power. Maybe not a problem for everyone but this type of limitations doesn't fits me.
  10. TechPowerUp Releases ThrottleStop 9.6—Take Control Over Your Processor's Power Management Techpowerup.com - Today, 17:49 TechPowerUp today released the latest version of ThrottleStop by Kevin Glynn, a utility that gives you fine control over your processor's power-management, letting you squeeze the most performance out of it without having to overclock it. This utility is particularly useful to override processor power-management by OEMs in notebooks, although it's just as useful for desktops. Version 9.6 of ThrottleStop adds support for 13th Gen Core desktop and mobile "Raptor Lake" processors. A bug that caused stability issues with AVX512 has been fixed. The maximum possible IccMax values for 12th Gen and 13th Gen Core processors has been increased. FIVR-PL4 reporting has been fixed for some CPUs. There are several aesthetic updates to the user interface with this release. DOWNLOAD: TechPowerUp ThrottleStop 9.6 by Kevin Glynn (unclewebb). Version history - 9.6 added 13th Gen desktop and mobile Rocket Lake support including 13700HX. restored proper scaling on high dpi 4K monitors. increased maximum IccMax for 12th and 13th Gen processors. added Undervolt Protection reporting to the FIVR window. fixed FIVR - PL4 reporting for some CPUs. disabled the TS Bench - Random MHz feature when TPL - Speed Shift is not checked. improved the Windows Defender Boost feature so it begins immediately when ThrottleStop starts. added ExitTime=1 INI option to force ThrottleStop to exit 1 second after it starts. disabled safe start feature when Stop Data is being used. added an extra digit to the microcode version reporting. fixed SLFM check box showing on screen when the CPU does not support SLFM. fixed Limit Reasons reporting for Goldmont and Goldmont Plus processors. fixed AVX512 bug.
  11. Maybe go for the 3090. Nvidia will rather produce the better chips for AI than more of the 4090's. They prefer that people rather walk with the cut down 70% overpriced 4080'sor the more castrated 4070's. If this is correct then don't expect huge discounts on 4090's. More fun for you and I don't think you'll loose more money vs 3080 Ti if you resale it later in the used market. The bigger 24GB vram buffer will still have it's value. The AI chip boom is propelling Nvidia to new heights, gamers be damned This partly explains why Nvidia has moved some production of GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs to make more Hopper-based H100 enterprise GPUs. To put things into perspective, the RTX 4090 sells for around $1,600, while used H100 cards sell for over $40,000 on eBay.
  12. Fantastic. Not everyday Pcworlds editors shine like this. Lost generation, LOOL And he was spot on when he didn't put 4090 into this Hall Of Shame. Just lovely...... New one out. The praised 90 degree adapter is on the way kill/reduce CableMods reputation. They mostly also damage the GPU side connector in same fire. Not enough replace the melted adapter. You also need RMA the card itself. Bro @electrosoft maybe use one of the small thermocouples with flat edge/end (come with MB and some chassis) and tape it on the 12VHPWR connector with kapton tape. Then monitor the temp with alarm. Melted STRIX RTX 4090 180 adapter
  13. Here is another one. But this one have nice and equally round bubbles, and fully molded/welded to the GPU connector. How many have nice plastic bubbles in their PC box they don't know about yet? Yep.... CableMod say they use plastic is of high quality. Can whitstand 110C bro @electrosoft You know the drilll.... Why pay extra if you don't get much in return. Thats wasted money. And pretty or aesthetics cable management will never replace piece of mind. Just stay with the PSU manufacurers native 12VHPWR cables. Mostly cheaper than the custom adapters/cables from well known vendors. Seasonics have even started offer 90 degrees adapters. Bling bling and pretty aesthetics often goes hand in hand. I can easly live without it😎 I was going to check for melting issues... Maybe all the custom adapters should come with a a free box for fire fighting? Even Nvidia and their AIC partners could offer it for their expensive 4090s😆 Just put on their logo for promoting their brand. And nice to see Nvidia won't get it the way they hoped for. Greed comes with some sideeffects. Just one person showed up to buy an RTX 4060 Ti for its late night Akihabara launch Two stores opened late in Japan's Akihabara district for the event, but it's become painfully clear they wasted their money. Not sure if the seller or the buyer feels he are alone in the universe🙂
  14. I'm sure it will come to the consols as well.... Xbox Series S Suffers from VRAM Limitations, Just Like
  15. 4060ti or 4070 for 1080P 144hz? I plan to not upgrade for the next 5-10 years.... Oh my gosh.
  16. I wonder what cable/adapter was used. But posted on CableMod/reddit. What is a day without new black screens due the 12VHPWR 🙂 It was the E-series 12VHPWR cable. 12vhpwr adapter just broke my 4080 Suprim. A couple of days before and he talked about 8 adapters. Suddenly 20 failures, Hmmm I wonder how many they are with the real numbers.
  17. What you really get with an fully spec'd ATX 3.0 PSU. Same cable but with double up of the hated small 12VHPWR connectors😎 Can't beat that... Huuuuhuuu. Maybe you'll see smoke on both ends, LOOOOOL With the 1200$ price point as first card... Nvidia wooould be killed by the reviewers. Start a new launch with a card priced 72% above previous gen. I can't imagine how that would be. More likely more damaging than we aready have seen🙂
  18. Yep, there is nothing in between. Gamers on (limited) budget should just buy a used card for 1080P gaming. Pay +400$ or 488$ here home for about the same experience is just stupid. Now, one just need to find the best deals for 1440P. Or go for 4090. The "in middle" is a mess. And this don't stop the fire. Stupid is the new normal. What good would a brand new ATX 3.0 PSU do better than my 1 year old Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 12 - 1500W PSU with 2x native 12VHPWR adapter cables from the PSU manufacturer? They all use same 12VHPWR connector all over. The only difference is the connector on the PSU side. Single vs dual connector point. And to make it less appealing. You get the dreaded tiny fragile 12VHPWR connector instead for a real massive 8/12 pin power connector for the PSU connection🙂 So the best safeguard against the issue is probably to avoid using any adapter and simply "upgrade to an ATX 3.0 PSU". https://www.techspot.com/news/98819-users-report-melting-16-pin-rtx-4090-power.html There is no need to use the added adapter from the GPU box or buy a custom made cable/adapter. Neither is it a need to buy a ATX 3.0 PSU. Just buy the recommended cable from the PSU manufacturer. You will still risk the same fire regardless what option you go with. The ATX 3.0 PSU won't change that facts. And for what good is it to have double up with the tiny small weak 12VHPWR connectors for your shiny ATX 3.0 PSU? @Mr. Fox😀 You only get double up with the hated new and modern power connector, LOOL
  19. You talk about those that build new or want a new Pc. I talk more about people upgrading their graphics cards. And many of thos aren't willing to pay 20-75% higher prices vs previous gen cards. And nvidia and AMD will soon enough see the paint on the wall. If people can't afford it, they will go after the used market. This ain't for the best for nvidia and AMD. The cheapest used 3070 cost 314.82 USD here. And 6800XT is like 483 USD used. This is included tax (Because I compare all prices vs new cards). I would be damn stupid if I bought the brand new 4060Ti for $488 USD for 1080P gaming. With some ice I would probably get the 3070 below 300$ here home. And as a reminder. We have 5 years free warranty here home. No in Hell I would pay 60% more for the same experience or their new software &features. 300 vs the pitful 488 scalper deal is appealing if you only intend to play 1080P (You save over 50% in cash). Even more vs 1440P gaming. Because 1440p gaming won't happen before we see close to $800 here home. Nvidia and AMD have destroyed the 1440P gaming with this gen cards. People can handle their 1080P needs with ease without being scalped by nvidia and AMD. Just use what they have above their shoulders. Just don't buy any of the new fancy overpriced 4060Ti or the RX7600 cards. Then you have come a long way🙂
  20. Look at this.... There is nothing new below $500 for 1440P. And the coming 4060Ti@16GB ain't a real 1440P card. If I had 500$ I would never buy anything of the new. Nothing! Zero! GPU Upgrade Recommendation I rather sit on the fence or try see if I could find used cards that fits my goals. Or just ride on what I already have and buy the cheapest I can find for 1080P thats better than what I already have. If either Nvidia, Intel or AMD could offer a real 1440P card at $490/500 I expect the cards would sell in loads. If you want 1080P gaming then it's easier. Find the cheapest used card you can find. No need to pay more than absolutely necessary. Used cards will pop up. And let Nvidia and AMD burn in with the new and overpriced.
  21. People will start buy if the prices is more correct (if they have the money but sit on the fence due overpricing). But, yep some will pay whatever nvidia will charge them. But those ain't in majority. Nvidia and AMD won't sit still while the ship is sinking. Remember it only took one day to push prices below MSRP for 4060Ti. And more will come.
  22. Everything would look nicer if Nvidia could stick to same 6.6% price hike as 4090 for all cards outside the 4060Ti and below (those should have been cheaper). The ice on the cake would be if Nvidia could keept 4090 at $1499. Everyone understand that money will lose it's value with inflation. But there is a major difference between up to +72% price increase and 6.6% price inflation. And 4060Ti and SKUs below is die/mem bus capped so the prices for those cards has to be put well below MSRP and infation... Gaming is still important for Nvidia. But if they price their Geforce gaming products the way they do now, we will see nvidia will see worse times forwards..... Press Release If they already have a torque screwdriver... Why not test the torque on the orginal ILM? Start with low torque value and work you upwards to find the specs. This before you remove the ILM for the contact frame you anyway will swap in.
  23. "ZERO" RTX 4060 Ti pre-launch consumer interest reported as retailers allegedly anticipate extremely low demand Another source mentioned that the RTX 4060 Ti could be “VERY” easy to get possibly due to low demand. Where's the miners? And where is the scalpers? Sleeping? 8GB vram should be more than enough for mining😁 How gamers feel about the new Gpu prices and Nvidia's cost cuttings............. Fed up with NVIDIA and AMD pricing? Intel Arc A750 GPU is down to $199 There's a lot of fuss right now about AMD and NVIDIA's new mid-range RDNA 3 and Lovelace graphics cards, with the RTX 4060 Ti just emerging today, and the RX 7600 set to be hot on its heels tomorrow - but what if you want a much more wallet-friendly GPU than either of those? Come on Intel.... Push it down to $160 and you'll own most of the 1080P gaming market. And please, do the same with Intel Arc A770. Sub $210 anyone? Edit. LOOL Let the game start for those that don't bother/want play coming games in 1080p Ultra. NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti drops below MSRP in Germany on its launch day This took much a lot less time than expected.
  24. So in short. Only two good options for new GPUs in 2023.... Intel Arc A770 and the brand new 4090😎 Fantastic for the gamers. Either go for the top or the bottom. Nothing in between.
  25. And AMD doesn't make it much better. Bad producs and quality problems is nowadays golden standard. Cost cutting all over the line. If you cut costs... You have to expect worse products/quality problems. It's up to the consumer if you accept it or not. Both AMD and Nvidia know everything about the competitors new not released products. Almost as they cooperate in the market. And they do. Be you sure. What a ugly business. AMD is a Mess: Radeon RX 7600 GPU Review & Benchmarks AMD Fails Again: Radeon RX 7600 Review AMD is on the way damaging their brand due they want nvidia prices vs performance. They lack the features but still want Nvidia price premium. It was the same with their first gen 16 cores Ryzen chips. They was the first brand to put $800 USD in modern time for a mainstream Cpu.
