This isn't the end. It's the start.... DeepSeek R1: The Chinese AI model that has made NVIDIA lose 384 billion overnight NVIDIA Corporation has seen its stock market value lose more than $384 billion overnight, and this is due to the Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek. Exactly what Nvidia need... Chinese AI company DeepSeek is making some serious waves in the world of AI, with its R1 model being trained for 90-95% less money... making the industry re-consider all those AI GPU purchases... and seeing NVIDIA stock dropping 11% in pre-market trading, bleeding out $384 billion. Ouch. And China/budget-conscious creators/prosumers want that 24GB framebuffer. Leak: RTX 5080 performs worse than RTX 4090 The last-generation flagship is up to 23 percent faster than the RTX 5080. -

Here's where Jensens products lands via their partners.... It seems no one can stop Jensen and nvidia. Probably only the small top of the big iceberg. And only god know how many real 4090 chips and GDDR6X packages with 48GB vram has been pushed into China. We will see the same with Blackwell chips. Not the castrated 5090D die's. The real one's. Chinese AI firm DeepSeek has 50,000 NVIDIA H100 AI GPUs says CEO, even with US restrictions Chinese AI lab DeepSeek has access to tens of thousands of NVIDIA H100 AI GPUs for training, according to DeepSeek CEO. -

Rumors but most of Galax cards will be D models for the Asia market. And I mean we would see HOF cards by now if they where made Is this the end of GALAX HOF? "According to our information, GALAX will be using 90% 5090D chips and 10% 5090 chips" And overclocking.com editors have always had love for the HOF models. I'm sure they would find one in the 5000 series if they was real. Edit. I think also Colorful will prioritise the Asia market. Aka most 5090 chips will be the D variant. Not interested in gamer cards for the masses from Galax. Galax have always put the work into the HOF models. Not sure where they will go now as the xx90 class is mostly D dubbed cards (20% vanilla versions and 80% castrated D models for Asia). KFA2 is Galax but they offer same lower end cards now for Europe. Have had Gainwards. Cheapo made. And that brand + Gigabyte is the brands that suddenly died due my hobby. Not sure where I will go now. I will sit down and see. And Palit is the big mother for several GPU brands. But where or what is their flagship now? Nothing. Edit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palit_Microsystems -

For me... Never had luck with any MSI. Same with Gigabyte. And cards with AIO won't happen (I swap in and out way too many cards to bother with the Liquid versions). I just love old cards. Buy custom GPU blocks are way too expensive here, so I doubt it will happen. And I will never get back the money I paid for the block. Norway is a land for the average Joe. Cute pretty small Pc builds. Or small Alienware/MSI boxes. Aka prebuilt trash. I don't like the design of the aircooled Suprim + as already mentioned above, so the 5090 series for my taste looks problematic. Availability of different 5090 SKUs is also something to consider. Almost nothing as usual here home. As for now I can only see the Astral. But the price for what you get is awful. Galax killed the HOF so maybe I'll just go back to the fence and see what happens. Edit. Even if we could get the FE here home (won't happen), I wouldn't buy it. I don't like hardware design meant for mini-boxes. Reminds me all too much about Dell and their prefered design. -

Nvidia screw their partners.... And make it more difficult for people to get the cards, as not all places offer Nvidia FE cards. The limited availability of RTX 5090 cards also impacted product reviews. In some countries, review samples arrived less than 48 hours before the embargo deadline, with only a few reviewers selected who could commit to publishing on time. It was an unusually chaotic launch, particularly for custom, non-MSRP cards. However, the Founders Edition series reportedly had one of the largest sample distributions in history, we hear from our media friends. Looking very good 🙂 Have we ever seen a xx80 with such low performance uplift over previous gen cards? I don't talk about vanilla vs Super refresh. Why not give the 5080 a few more cuda cores when they know the TSMC node was the same? This is awful results if the benchmarks is correct. All people get is some tuned software/features. Imagine pay $1.877.99 for the 5080 Astral and get 4080 refresh performance?😬 I expect Nvidia could never have done the same screw up with xx90 due the massive price increase for 5090. All tech companies try please China. Last one one out is Intel. China-exclusive Core Ultra 5 230F Arrow Lake CPU poses for photos The different cache size compared to the international version isn’t all that unusual for Intel CPUs. The Core i7-14790F was also exclusive to China, came in a black box, and offered slightly more cache than the regular 14700(F). 4090's is still useful for China. Some will grab them up and ship it out. Still cheap/useful for AI servers. Edit. See it this way... NV has completely blocked 5090D for multi-card operations. If no one can open it up, then you can see the 5090 or the older 4090 as good cheap options for China servers. And the Chineeze use the 4090 cards with custom PCB for 48GB vram. So... -

Nvidia use their tech almost as open source for China. They can easily go around all US restrictions. Only the small fishes will be taken with the pants down. And Nvidia can continue with new unknown partners for next round. Nvidia can even go out in media and bash the US government nowadays. Nothing really happens from the US. Nvidia and big tech can almost do whatever they want. All is about the big money. Just look whats in play with TikTok. -

LOOL. Jensen gave more love for the China-chip 5090D in many games. And what with the silicon lottery? Will China (Asia) get the better silicon as usual? Remember China stands for 1/3 of the GPU market, so their most important market. And Jensen love it. And I'm sure he will open up the backdoor with fully working 5090's so it can flood the China market with real AI chips. Just use all their scummy partner all around the world. Hmmm. This is what Dell usually flag for every new gen pc's. Disgusting. Also Apple follow same awful recipe. I don't want reduced size on any hardware. Just look what happened with Jokebooks. And I prefer high quality reusable thermal pads. Less annoying to use. And reusable with care. I have many old graphics cards. And most of they have same old thermal pads while I only swapped out the dryed out thermal paste with new. -

With the tax here home the $400 uplift from Asus will be transformed into $500 once you click the buy button. Nice. Even worse if you compare it to the FE. That would be $800 premium or $1000 extra with the tax See it the other way. I could buy a vanilla 5090 MSRP card and put with a 5070 Ti for the second build for the ROG price premium. But nowadays... And with the silicon lottery... An MSRP 5090 could beat the Asus flagship for $1000 less. -

For many users, this means that access to high-end technology is increasingly limited. Unfortunately, cards like the RTX 5090 SUPRIM SOC are becoming increasingly out of reach, especially for gamers or creatives on a limited budget. This is leading to a social discussion about the balance between innovation and affordability. While enthusiasts are willing to pay high prices for top performance, the question remains as to how a market that is moving further and further away from a broad user base can survive in the long term. MSI cheaped out on the pads for the VRMs/power delivery for their flagship card. Why? Greed? How much did they save? $1-2 as they buy thermal pads in bulk? MSI GeForce RTX 5090 SUPRIM SOC in the test – When the gram costs one euro and you put the FE in the shade igorslab.de The other thermal pads used, with a thermal conductivity of only 3.3 W/mK, are more of a lower middle class and only meet basic heat transfer requirements. Hothardware.com - Fri, Jan 24, 2025 GeForce RTX 5090 Cards Are Already Being Scalped On Ebay For As Much As $7,000 Edit. MSI use 11 heatpipes while Asus flagship use 8. And MSI offer better cooling as well (both for the cores and vram). Hmmm. Our apples-to-apples cooler comparison test reveals that the ASUS Astral cooler is NOT the most powerful air cooling solution tested today. MSI Suprim's cooler is a little bit better, probably because it has 11 heatpipes vs 8 on ASUS and less space taken up by the cooler shroud, so the heatsink is bigger. Compared to the Founders Edition, at the same heat load and noise level, the ASUS cooler runs a staggering 18°C cooler. In short an extra fan looks very impressive on paper but in reality it can offer you less in real world. From Computerbase. Exactly what @electrosoftwill try to avoid... The fourth fan is annoying Because in the performance BIOS under load in the test system it rotates at almost 1,900 revolutions per minute like the other fans, it is loud and annoying. And then we have the scalpers..... But you won't get any warranty. Just double the price for nothing. Every major GPU launch faces scalping issues. NVIDIA, the largest GPU manufacturer in the world, has not done much to address this problem. And creators.... They will happy pay extra if that's needed to get the cards. Scalpers already charging double with no refunds for GeForce RTX 5090 New modern tech will increase the prices.... This modern way is stupid for us that often swap out cards several times. Changes to help modern people doesn't always mean smart. Asus' Q-Release Slim feature is reportedly damaging some GPU PCIe connectors Affects 800-series Intel and AMD motherboards. The release button for the GPU PCIe slot for the Z690 boards was more than good enough. This new innovation from Asus was totally unnecessary. -

Hope the manufacturers are able to fix the PCIe 5 problems. Not fun with a raiser cable lottery. @Mr. Fox The trend form over functionality continue... Nice. Exactly what the minibox lovers want. Bryan also found out that he need take of the side panels on his mini-trash box while using the 5090. It seems this is the only fix for hot running hardware. Fantastic. PCIe 5 Problems This leads to a fundamental debate about prioritizing design over function. While attractive looks and innovative form factors are important, form follows function should be the top priority. In technical terms, this means that the hardware must be designed to deliver optimal performance under real-world operating conditions before aesthetic considerations are taken into account And some updates ... Cyberpunk 2077 2.21 patch adds DLSS 4 support days before RTX 50 series debut Nice. Less is the new more. But will it be fixed? I mean for 4000 series cards. -

What was the main reason Nvidia went with a lower memory Bus of 384bit and not 512 bit for the 4090? Because of the choice of GDR6X ? Or the complexity aka it would increase the cost of the board? They cut down on the mem bus for the cheaper 4000 series SKUs. To cut costs. Edit. Nvidia could continue with 24GB vram for 5090 but that would destroy profits margins and make it less appealing for creators that want the cards for AI workflow. 24GB would have been enough for 4K gamers. -
