With nvidia prefer use small PCB for their cards... There is no space on the PCB for dual 12V-2x6 connectors. And from what I have seen... The 5090D HOF that the elite (the choosen one to promote the brand) use for world records use dual 12v-2x6 connectors. Galax made only 5 of them for their LN2 benchers. The rest of the cards will most likely come with a single connector. I think Nvidia don't allow any partners to use dual connectors even if they have big enough PCB. And there is people out there that think an native cable with same trash connector on both ends and with ATX3.1 specs is the better option. I will continue with 2x8pins to 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) cable. There is no advantage with the native 12v-2x6 cables. Zero, nada. -

@electrosoft As you know.... Nvidia said, the revised 12V-2x6 power connector with shorter sense pins on the GPU's fixed all problems. Be sure you don't see blinking Red lights near the tiny trash connector on the PCB. This is nothing more than a half-baked fix from Asus for premium. The fix/feature should be an proper shut-down if problems occurs. Not just a warning. And you shouldn't need to use the Asus software for have it to work Btw. I wonder how long it will take before Nvidia try force their AIB partners to push out new vbios to reduce the TBP down from 600W to 500W. Better cooling for the more expensive 5090 cards won't fix this connector flaw from nvidia. Another Blackwell GPU bites the dust, as the meltdown reaper has reportedly struck a Redditor's MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC. As of now, the only foolproof method to secure your RTX 50 series GPU is to ensure optimal current draw through each pin. Maybe not now. People have seen Nvidia lies about 5090 performance for 5070 prices. But I'm sure you could grab one if you followed the market. There is still stupids out there as you know. This won't work so much anymore... Yup, you can find good deals... Not so good deal but cheaper than MSRP What I see here home right now. Flood of 5070, 5070Ti, 5080 and 5090 for sale in the shop. I expect the high prices don't move inventory out from the shop. Prices need to go down to speed up the sales. Even Asus have to make changes on prices. Pay more get less... And even worse with custom cards, LOL Same as me. But I use the 8pin to 12+4 pin cable from the PSU manufacturer. Btw. Only $11500 on the used market here home. Yup you see correct. Above $11K🧐 https://www.finn.no/recommerce/forsale/item/397253584?ci=6 -

99% sure I will keep the 4090 HOF. A real collector item. And I have both the XOC firmware and the XOC tool from Galax, soo. And the whole package (everything) is in pristine condition🙂 A nice to have card when I get rid of the 5090 Astral LC when it's time for 6090. Asus offer overpriced products and without soul. And come with cheapo gadgets as etc the ROG badgebutton for kids, the useless tiny GPU sag bracket and the fancy useless gold stamped ruler. This is not a collector item. The Astral is not a bad card (I really like it), but it will never be a collector item. Sad Asus went greedy and only made a cheap copy cat of the 4090 Matrix. -

https://hwbot.org/benchmarks/3dmark_-_port_royal/submissions/5816562 https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/130298471 Hmmm. Nope🙂 A much better deal was for those that could find used custom 4090's at $1000 when everyone else hunted after 5090 ghosts and hence sold their 4090's all too cheap to offset the much higher cost.. -

Nice. Asus put with wimpy trash + useless promotion gears in their $3000+ Gpu package and then try lure you to buy their overpriced RGB pukestick? Find something else brother. And who in their right mind would pay $35 usd for this kids junk? Even if I got it for free... i would never use it. I'm sure you'll find something nice and cheap than buy that kids looking toy-stick Tacky-looking? Rather say darn ugly. Please, Don't Lose Your Touch Brother🙂 Ugly! Not Tacky-looking. -

Yup, the cut off on the backplate around the GPU is a stupid design choice. And it won't make the card looks prettier. Congrats brother. It's a big beast of a card. How is the difference in noise level bethween the performance vs quiet bios? And don't forget to check if the Red light near the trash connector start blincking😁 And have a spare cable with the trash connector **the biggest failure with the 4000 and 5000 series cards. -

Same cheapo made GPU support bracket I complained about for Asus flagship. And you pay premium for barely same performance in some games vs 5090 FE MSRP card. And the silver blue design language isn't for everyone. Hmmm. Not really much extra you get for the massive price premium you pay for MSI's flagship... -

Asus use phase-change GPU thermal pads. Hopefully similar quality as PTM 7950. But as you have seen from my posts... Asus can do cheap choices to cut costs for maximized profits. Only a tecnical inspection from an review by Igorslab can determine the brand/quality. Asus could easily use an copy cat to cut costs. We see now why the 4090 is still so expensive. 5090 will be the next on the list. xx90 series is not meant or made for gamers. This is what gamers should buy.... According to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Is Now The Best Selling GPU At Newegg; GPU Shortage Shows How An 8GB Card Can Get Popular At $450+ The RTX 4060 is currently one of the handful of budget GPUs one can afford and while AMD and NVIDIA have focused heavily on $500+ GPUs, millions of gamers around the world want something more pocket-friendly. Not surprisingly, only one RTX 4060 edition can be seen in the top 10 list and the second RTX 4060 card is in the 16th position. -

Exactly. I see it here in one of worlds most expensive countries to live in. Why should we get cheaper computer parts than US? Something is wrong. 5090 will be a great option for those with AI Server needs. Probably the cheaper option from Nvidia... Because tariffs will make the better opinions from Nvidia even more expensive for those running AI tasks. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpus/seven-rtx-5090-gpus-power-ai-server-worth-over-usd30-000-over-4000w-of-power-and-224gb-of-memory-in-a-single-frame This is why there is so few 5090's for gamers and so high prices... The shift went from cypto to AI servers. This doesn't bode well for people/gamers that want cheaper nvidia geforce flagship cards. US knock down their best friends. Norway got a 16% gift because we have tariffs on much needed agricultural goods. Remember, we live in one of the worst places to grow food from the ground. Can't compete with other countries on prices because they have a better climate for food production. That would kill all food production here. We have one crop a year where we can get food from the ground (the growing season here is very short.). 3 months of summer and then 9 months of cold. And the summer is also colder than most places on Earth. It will be hard for the poorer people. They will have it even harder than today. But the middle class will survive. None of this will hurt China. Just the rest of us. See the whole video above. Very good summarized. Another devastating factor with Trump's new policies is that hardware manufacturers cannot benefit from the "China+1" strategy anymore, given that the tariffs are also imposed on nations like Vietnam, Thailand, India, and Taiwan, which are deemed to be a viable alternative to China. So, a workaround to these tariffs isn't possible at all. See it this way... China/or the whole asian continent will be the winners. They get the cheapest tech hardware. And hey, they are the first one that can buy and use new released hardware. They even get special hardware (Cpu's and Gpu's) by western tech companies as Intel, Nvidia and AMD. -

Yep. But now you'll come to next level of scalping... Government scalping! We have the same here home... Forced 25% tax on top of everything we buy. Nice. 25% additional tariff on top of the 20% general tariff for anything coming from China. Get ready to pay more for PC cases and GPUs. Aluminum is a fundamental material in constructing PC cases and is also utilized in manufacturing various GPU components. The newly imposed tariffs are expected to increase production costs for these items, leading to higher retail prices. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the aluminum tariff is determined by the value of the aluminum content in an import. The good thing... Increased supply of graphics cards will reduce the next level of increase in prices. So it could have been even worse. Maybe we will see plastic backplate and scrap metal heatsink for GPU's as a counterweight to the increased aluminum prices?😀 'Absolute Madness': Trump's Aluminum Tariffs Hit GPUs, Desktop Cases Why not 5090 and 5080 ? Amazon reserves RTX 5070, RX 9070 XT GPUs as Amazon Prime exclusives, to the dismay of scalpers -

Better sell what they have. And for more normal prices. I expect custom cards at 1.25 x MSRP will sell out. Because there isn't any 5090 FE cards here home. Weird Asus can push out batch after batch with cards every week. Asus have cards but sell few items to try get max profits. This won't work when all other brands have cards they can sell. Asus stands out. In a bad way. -

There is no 5070Ti or 9700XT here home. People want those cards due cheaper price. For 5090... +34 cards available from Asus. Astral LC oc cost $3450 and the sales is low. Asus has reached the upper limits and above what people are willing to pay. No in hell I would pay more than the $3000 what I paid. Even that was too much. My best guess.... Asus need to reduce the prices to get them out from the stores. I see the same pattern with 5080 Astral ($1690). All too expensive and they are in stock here. +15 of them. And no cards from other brands. Still the sales is low for Asus. If there was cheaper cards from other brands.... I expect the more expensive options from Asus would stay in the store. Aka unsold. Having Halo products that don't move from the stores is bad publicity for the greedy company. -

Nvidia need to find new ways to feed China clients with server chips as you can see. Are Nvidia now willing to use some more of the ordered TSMC wafers for Geforce gaming chips if this problems below continue? I expect they have already paid for the wafers so better make gamer cards out of it. Lets say 10% reduction in prices (due increased inventory and rebates from Nvidia)...We will still see above $3000 USD for the better Asus cards. And same from Gigabyte. NVIDIA Is In Trouble Once Again; Team Green Finds It Difficult To Sell Its Newest Blackwell Ultra “GB300” Servers As Clients Show Hesitation Will we ever see the better custom 5090 cards below 130% of the MSRP for 5090 ? If not then we will see +2600$ through it's whole lifespan. Custom AIB cards won't go below $2500. Nvidia could of course start compete with their partners and increase the inventory of 5090 FE cards for their global stores. Isn't increased competition what we want? Nvidia vs their partners😁 I'm still on the old MC and bios version before the so called fix. No need for new is "always" better... @Mr. Fox TWITTER user Hemu @itsHemu2K ( link ) said he had tested 0X12C, but the results were disappointing. https://unikoshardware.com/2025/03/intel-new-microcode-0x12c.html Btw. I'm sure it will be fine🙂 But I expect you also will see this is an awful deal for +$3000. The value you get for your money is damn bad. Checked Asus US Store. Asus have finally increased the prices for the Astral LC from 3409 to $3719,99 or $350 USD🙄 Yep, the old price was too cheap. Consumers mostly avoid scalpers on market places. Now you can't avoid it anymore if you want Asus cards. 186% above MSRP😲 https://www.asus.com/us/motherboards-components/graphics-cards/all-series/filter?Category=NVIDIA&Spec=354488 The ROG Astral 5080 starts to look damn cheap with the awful $1,649.99 price tag. -

Yes, everyone talks nice about their baby. That's normal🙂 Astral OC 5090 - 4th fan sounds almost like a saw I haven't had much time with the card. But I'll probably keep it. Still sad seeing Asus isn't close to Galax regarding offer the premium experience for their flagship. Galax (KFA2 for Europe market) prioritizes Asia and only offers 5090D cards. I will still prefer 5090 above the China models. So yup, I will most likely keep the card. But it will never be a collector item (should not be this way when you know this is the best they can offer). The US ban destroyed Galax/KFA2 flagship as option for everyone outside China. It's what it is. A broken tech industri. New batch of 5090's were put up for sale today. They all sold out in no time. -

LOL. This one made my day. Thanks brother Fox 🙂 The first Ryzen 9 9950X3D dies after just 9 days on an ASRock motherboard Yep, bro Fox was spot on with the nice comparison above😀 Not so sure der8auer was completely agree. And Asus could shaveed of some cost if they made the card with tripple fans. But they went fancy over functionality and increased the prices. Even the fan control isn't made proper for that card. But still a nice card 🙂 I really like the design. I should only wished they made a full cover back plate. I hate the spacing around the chips. Also 4090 Suprim had the cut of around the GPU. Better with fullcover backplate and thermal pad. A lot nicer with a proper backplate. -

I'm sure the results for 4000 series graphics cards would be better if nvidia bothered spend some time with the drivers for EOL cards. Same also for even older 3000 series. Game developers are recommending GeForce RTX 40 Series owners roll back to drivers from 2024 https://www.tweaktown.com/news/104313/game-developers-are-recommending-geforce-rtx-40-series-owners-roll-back-to-drivers-from-2024/index.html Yup, the direction for modern tech goes the wrong way... If I remember correct... The mobile 5090 have less cores than 5080 desktop cards. And you get jokebooks with soldered on 5090@95W GeForce RTX 5090 laptops are a whopping 50 percent slower than the desktop RTX 5090 -

20% above MSRP would mean $2400 for the best 5090. Custom flagship cards should never be priced above that from any AIB partners. Yep, could been cheaper for customized cards but that is NVIDIA's faulth. And the cheaper Gpu SKUs as etc 5070 I would say $50 premium for the better custom cards. 10-15% for the flagship cards in between 5070 and 5090. Or ideally 10% markup for all of them. And with Nvidia reducing already high MSRP. But this will never happen with nvidia. If the AI bubble blow of (bursts).... Gamers will have to pay even more for Geforce graphics cards. Not less. -

I often buy used cards. They all have their flaws. And more expensive doesn't justify the massive price increase. As said before... Up to 20% mark up is acceptable if the product stands out in the bunch of trash. Yup I use the phrase trash, because awesome doesn't exist in the real world. Maximize the profits margins will always destroy otherwise great products. Lets take the 4090 Matrix from Asus. Fantastic design, binned chips (yup thats correct)....But failed hard with a pure copper coldplate with liquid metal attached. How stupid... And that card cost $1400 USD above 4090 Strix. Imagine that... The temps would be almost equal if they used nickel plated copper. So this wasn't the reason for the cheaper choice. If I buy new... I buy what people want in the used market here home. I see what sell out fast when its used. This way I can get back some of the extra money spent. I don't see this Asus card as a collector item. Nothing special with the Astral cards. Just a new name SKU to increase the already high ROG price point. Regarding the high prices above MSRP. Asus fail to beat Gigabyte. That's even worse. I wouldnever ever expext that. Then you have ZOTAC. They aren't much cheaper anymore for their flagship cards (+50% above MSRP).. -

I expect much more from Asus flagship costing +70% above MSRP. As with the failed 4th fan for the Astral aircooled card, the LC version have it's own flaws. Asus went for design over functionality. See the huge gap between the ROG fan and the radiator. It leaks air flow between fan and rad as hell. This isn't nice or clever design by any engineer. This is just dumb. They made the fan so fancy with pattern and uneven height. Maybe the engineer that created this fan design or approved it to be used should find a new job ? @Mr. Fox What Galax offer with their HOF series cards is miles in front of what Asus is able to deliver. This Is just embarrassing.... This follow same pattern with no screws to mount the rad in you pc box.
