What I hate with MSI.... Most locked system of all OEMs regarding custom tweak/XOC software. And Gigabyte don't bother with XOC. + Gigabyte is probably the OEM that use most stickers of them all to tell you why you can't get the repair for free on warranty. They don't even bother open the card before they send it back. HaHa. And what with the new plaform? Same feelings?🙂 -

Hmmm. Then I'm at the risk with my hobby (+20 cards)😀 Hope Asus have improved their support/RMA or it will be nasty. I, don't like MSI and Gigabyte. ASRock is tempting due the price but not so sure they follow up with bios updates. Firmware that works and not screw up as EVGA did at the end with some graphics cards. Not fun with a new modern MB that can't handle all older graphics cards properly. My trust in MB vendors is very limited. And this apply all tech. They screw up in one or another way. And all of them jump if Microsoft-Intel-AMD and Nvidia say they have to jump (out from the cliff). Yup, even Torvalds don't have any trust in new modern hardware.... Linus Torvalds is "fed up with buggy hardware and completely theoretical attacks" Hmmm. Is this also a Microsoft in love with ASUS problem? Microsoft blocks Windows 11 24H2 update on devices with known issues The monumental 2024 update is being withheld from some users to minimize issues, all while the number of affected devices continues to grow. -

HeHe. You never know with modern tech😀 The good thing living in Norway. There is almost no options if you want PC components. You can order from another country but that will be away more expensive and the shipping time will be disgusting. MSI Z890 Unify-X... Not even listed. Asus Z890 Apex.... Most Asus boards listed included the Apex, but no prices and unknown delivery date. Maybe they don't know where to put the ROG Tax? ASRock Z890 TAICHI OCF... Unknown delivery date... No listed two dimm Gigabyte board. Yup, damn nice live up here in the cold North. -

Congrats. I see Asus haven't bother change anything regarding fan headers. Do you know if they have added more than one wimpy High Amp fan header? With the extra 8-Pin there should be no problem swap out a few with higher capacity. Idiotic if you can't use the extra 12v line from the extra power connector to something sensible/useful. Not all will use an extra GPU for AI tasks. They have changed how it works. Just bend the GPU out from the front side and it will pop out. No need for an easy-release button anymore. -

Yup. Without real overclock on the baby-cores this looks worse and worse if the results is real. Core Ultra 9 285K already use +370W with unlimited power and barely manage 46.000 in CBR-23. That is on level with an nice binned oc'd 14th gen Core i9. This looks darn disgusting... CBR23 ~ 46289@370W. And the ring is heavly castrated. Measly 3.8GHz. I wonder how far you can go with a Ring clock speed running at Jokebook clocks. https://videocardz.com/pixel/unlocked-intel-core-ultra-9-285k-approaches-370w-power-draw-during-cinebench-test -

G. Skill just hate spend money on thermal pads. Also the Clock driver don't get any thermal pad. How much did G. Skill save for an 3cm² thermal pad ? 10-20 cent? This is real greed. Asus, what the hell is going on with the pricing.... The ROG tax ain't enough anymore. AMD make ready for the Arrow Lake launch. I'm quite sure AMD pay the price difference between the MSRP and the lower retail prices. AMD Ryzen 9 9950X drops to $599 for the first time, 9900X now 14% lower at $429 -

ASUS going this route. Asus going the DELL/Alienware direction... Remove functionality that have been there the whole time. Remove features in firmware is a bad way to fix problems that not all will experience. See.... 2.The option to disable C1E in the BIOS has been removed to ensure it remains enabled, reducing processor stress and maintaining stability per Intel's recommendation. https://www.overclock.net/posts/29379060/ -

Much of this should be put in the box BAD. HT on 8 P-cores can correspond to 6000 points in CBR-23 if you have the thermals and power headroom. Aka a real Arrow lake could pass 50.000 points in CBR-23 with custom cooling and not maxed out OC. 10% higher performance with tuned Arrow Lake chips but with same power performance profile as for older 14900KS is less than you should have expected from 3nm vs fake 7nm (actually 10nm, not 7nm) at same power consumption. I mean the CBR-23 performance with no HT aka 24 threads for 285K is bad. Intel's goal this time wasn't better performance. It was all about power efficiency. And that's sad for people with good enough Cpu cooling. Aris is spot on @Mr. Fox -

The score is awful from an brand new CPU arcitecture and 32 threads. And Intel don't do it any better with their 24 threads hybrid mess and baby cores. The performance stagnation is clear as a sunny day. This is awful. Core Ultra 9 285K should had HT with same IPC uplift. This is too small of a gain over current gen Raptor Lake (Refresh). But I expect everything is all about improved power efficiency and single core workflow. Intel really need to come back with either more P-cores or more threads. Because this is an miniscule performance uplift and just embarassing. . And the stated gaming performance just make it complete. This one made my day😆 See bolded text. Maybe he should doing the same and start hunting after his brain? @Mr. Fox I have included some pictures and I will try to get this RMA'd. I personally don't like the way the cable sticks out so would it be beneficial to purchase another one of these? I know they had a recall for V1 & V1.1 but I don't even know the version I got. -

Exactly what Intel wanted right before the release of 15th gen. So more good news for Intel and their upcoming power efficient gaming flop Core Ultra PROCESSORS. We are not talking about 15% lower gaming performance as Intel showcased, but +20% less gaming performance compared to their competitors GAMING CHIPS. Intel will regret the switch to TSMC tile mess if the performance differences is as big as these rumors say. Being behind by 30% in several games is not only sad, it is disgusting from a flagship product. And if this is the results to expcted then not be surprised if Intel make a copy-cat of AMD's X3D products early next year. Intel are already very close.... They already use TSMC and glued silicon. Add the v-cashe to the glued mess is what we will see next. Game over for Intel? Leaked X3D 'turbo mode' set to give Ryzen 9800X3D up to a 35% gaming boost -

I'll also try it. But not sure I will order on day one. I also have my older system (won't sell it on the used market before I see the new is better for my hobby). It will be exciting to see if anyone who prefer buy used is scared away by Intel's issues and instead go with the new one. We'll see. I won't sell the old if there is a shameful bid. Then I rather use it myself. -

Do they have another choice? Nope, because the PSU manufacturers cut down on 8-pin connectors. Remember newer modern motherboards will also use a single 8-pin connectors to power more peripherals. All to many new PSUs haven't enough 8 pin connectors anymore to power up the GPUs. Welcome to the future. Stupid is the new normal. Edit. See for yourself.... This is Asus ROG. Then count the 8-pin power connectors. Remember ROG is Asus flagship brand. And this is what you get🥴 Not a single available 8-pin to power the GPU. The final score rating should have been the half. And give this disgusting mess 99% for the "Features" is perverse. Tweaktown was all to kind giving this Asus failure a 95% rating. Sad seeing the average computer Joe being fooled this way. But it will be so when the tech press don't know how it is supoosed to be. Paid reviews is bad value but the lack of tech knowledge from the same audience (tech reviewers) is worse. -

When highest possible performance come second or last. Intel really wanted to sell their new chips to Microsoft. Hence they traded performance for improved battery runtime to please Microsoft. And desktop users that wanted more performance have to pay the price. Aka they'll get mobile processors disguised as desktop CPUs. One fits all. Leak reveals Microsoft Surface Laptop 8 powered by Intel Lunar Lake processors In short, our recent Intel Lunar Lake analysis demonstrated that the Core Ultra 7 268V trades multi-core CPU performance for improved power efficiency and a much faster iGPU. Any reason for this? Doesn't all voltage for DDR5 come from the dimm itself and not from the board? Why can't they offer support also with the older mem controller on 13th and especially 14th chips? DDR5 CUDIMM kits will require an Arrow Lake processor, and therefore the 15th GEN memory controller. And here is more from modern tech world... Flight Simulator 2024 consumes up to 180 Mbit/s of bandwidth In the alpha version, the game draws up to nine times more data than if you were to stream Netflix in 4K. -

Nice. With vanilla DDR5 not much have changed vs older Raptor Lake. And people will get another security problem to handle. Aka the NPU (ticking bomb in all perspectives). New is always better🤮 I can clearly see why older 13th and 14th gen (from what I know) is keept out from supporting CUDIMMs. Because you need to offer something new, special and fancy to try sell the newest hardware. Edit. Not so sure this new features will help on the sales of Arrow lake processors. Gaming is still more important than any low end NPU (can't even tick Microsofts HW requirements for being copilot+ PC), the "recall" ticking bomb feature from Microsoft. And Intel offer less with the former. The trade is bad. For gamers and for those that seek much better (gaming)performance from "new has to be better". Intel's Arrow Lake official memory speeds are unchanged with standard memory sticks The Intel Core Ultra 200S (codenamed Arrow Lake) chip spec sheets note that their maximum JEDEC DRAM speed is DDR5-6400, allowing users to use faster memory speeds without overclocking. However, hardware leaker @harukaze5710 shared some documentation on X that showed that the chips supported the faster standard when using more expensive CUDIMM. Standard UDIMM sticks would be limited to DDR5-5600 unless you use XMP to overclock them. Intel releases NPU drivers with Arrow Lake support — AI PC users will have yet another component that may require regular updates If you own an "AI PC" from Intel or AMD, that means you have an onboard Neural Processing Unit (NPU) alongside your typical CPU cores and graphics. And if you weren't aware, it seems — at least for Intel NPUs — you'll have yet another driver to potentially update on a regular basis. Even if you don't bother with Windows' AI PC features, these driver updates include security fixes alongside fixing issues or adding features, so it's probably a good idea to be diligent with these updates. If you're using an Intel NPU on a Windows 10 PC rather than a Windows 11 PC, Intel also recommends that you outright disable the NPU within the BIOS rather than keeping it or its drivers enabled. What happens if you don't do this isn't clear (probably nothing for most situations), but leaving a potentially unusable NPU enabled could serve as a vector for attack or contribute to system instability. -

LOOL. If Intel only keep LGA 1851 for one single gen chips they are soon digging their own grave. Smart people will never forget. They want something out from their money. Two gen chips on same socket is really bad and well known with Intel, but with only one chips before a needed MB change... Then it's no difference between BGA Jokebooks and desktops. And all know what I feel about soldered trashbooks. But I can clearly understand why Intel don't want go with an Arrow Lake Refresh when you see how it perform in games (worse gaming performance confirmed by Intel). Imagine an Arrow Lake refresh with more baby cores but offer same lackluster gaming performance from the P-cores. Even a possible 2 bin boost increase in clocks for the P-cores isn't enough. That will be RIP Intel. Leaked MSI slide mentions Arrow Lake Refresh — reignites hopes that LGA 1851 will last more than a single-generation Can Arrow Lake hold off AMD for 2 years? Nice. Even cooling parts can only be fully usedl for a single-gen processors nowadays. That match how Intel prefer it to be. The so called comptibility for next gen socket is almost dead. This is how modern works.... You already benchmark before the benchmark software have started. -

Real/wold performance_ Maybe for single core tasks. This is on same level going from an 6700K to 7700K😎 Can barely beat 14th gen in compute tasks but lose in gaming. All left is slight advantage in Single threaded performance. Yup, I say single thread and not single core. Intel removed half of the treads for the Pcores to improve power efficiency. Aka half catrated. Its for a reason Intel still offer Pcores with HT for some newer server chips. They can afford that for the higher price point. And not let me start talk about AVX512. Intel killed that option after Rocket Lake. You need pay more and buy the more expensive Intel server chips for that. Regression all the way. Just look at the numbers. Outperform 9000 series Ryzen chips.
