Awesome! I'll test that out on my Lenovo Legion 7i Pro with 13900HX eventually. No time today. This might work as a work around to use on EVGA Z690 Dark since it doesn't have any official or unofficial BIOS since EVGA is donezo. -

I'd be curious if the SA bug is fixed. I don't have it on my chips, but would be pretty hilarious if Intel managed to fix that with this BIOS. Might have been a voltage bug all along that was causing issues on some of these chips. -

Honestly identical to my 11F microcode BIOS in CB23 with same power/current/undervolt. But of course 11F comes with the voltage issues. -

The belly flop continues. Honestly all Arrow Lake has to do at this point is drop the power by the leaked 100w across the board and it will be a success compared to Zen 5. But we know they're going to bring perf uplift too. -

Flashed the new BIOS to my Asus Apex. Zero performance losses noted and voltages are slightly reduced. So far so good. I never had crashing issues with my 14900KS, but still good to see the fix is out and I can relax about any degradation that might be happening at a faster than expected rate in the background. -

The problem is that an overclocked 13600K for $230 on Amazon and drawing similar wattage can score the same or higher. For $230 vs the $359 AMD is asking for this. And the 13600K will have nearly identical gaming performance. Actually HWU had the 14600K 1 fps higher. And the real problem? Intel is releasing it's next gen 3nm Arrow Lake in October. AMD won't be facing a 2 year old platform, they're going to be facing a new processor with a leading edge node. -

Oooofff. Ya I knew when Lisa Su came on stage, barely talked about Zen 5 and had to force a smile that Zen 5 was going to suck, and well.. -

Puget claims that with their reasonable and ideal settings they lose at most 1-2%. That isn't exactly something worth worrying over. But of course reasonable and competitive power doesn't make headlines like "Intel uses 400000w of power!!!!" *insert dog in house on fire picture*. Our approach has always led us to be conservative with our power settings, especially when we have shown that the real-world performance impact to be a small 1-2% range. I personally don't think Intel will go fabless, their stated goal and the money they are burning is putting in the entire opposite direction. They are spending 10s of billions on their new fabs and new fab tech. I think they see the writing on the wall for the x86 CPU. They are pivoting to becoming an fab only company honestly. I would not be surprised at all if in the future, Intel could be producing ARM CPUs and GPUs for Nvidia. -

BINGO. My thoughts exactly. I would not be surprised at all if 12-14th gen are the last true overclocking platforms with all controls and knobs left unlocked. Intel higher ups are going to come down hard on all departments, and I really believe we might see overclocking heavily limited going forward, similar to AMD. Of note, https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/puget-says-its-intel-chips-failures-are-lower-than-ryzen-failures-retailer-releases-failure-rate-data-cites-conservative-power-settings I find it highly interesting that this very well known and respected PC builder is actually finding AMD Ryzen 7000 fails quite a bit as well. -

TBH I think this is just more of the same from Intel. They are sitting by and letting AMD eat some of their cake and acting like they can do nothing about it. I don't get it. AMD has pretty clear road maps and they let customers know their sockets will be supported, even if not clearly defined what support means. Intel lets this be an advantage over their offerings by simply refusing to do this simple gesture. Talk about shooting yourself and your brand squarely between the eyes. The tick tock days needed to end a long time ago for Intel. There is no reason a socket cannot be used across a few generations of CPUs. AMD has forced motherboard OEMs to support the idea and there is no reason Intel cannot do the same. Otherwise we just continue to create more and more e-waste. A socket change should only happen when absolutely necessary as they rarely bring anything exciting these days. -

Agreed. After seeing this news I actually decided to pull the trigger on an open box Apex Encore at my local MC for $400. Says complete, I will likely go pick it up tomorrow afternoon since I had too much going on today. If LGA 1700 is getting another CPU with something interesting like this, I am likely going to hold onto this platform for awhile. Will be interesting to see what they base the core on. The above chart looks like BTL could be it's own new core, which hopefully includes some IPC gains and maybe some IMC/cache rework. -

Intel Bartlett Lake-S lives? https://x.com/jaykihn0/status/1812852062444482740 12 P cores, 10 P cores, 8 P cores with no E cores at all. LGA1700 lives on! -

I actually have every intention of getting an X870E board and X3D when it drops. I want to compare myself. Looks like I'll be waiting a bit for those, the non X3D parts just do no interest me given they seem to be nothing really new in terms of gaming performance. And I definitely won't be buying an X670E for the price of the new shiny they're holding back. -

Right and I totally get that, but my point was, AMD does seem to be rushing these out. Intel 13th/14th gen CPUs already essentially match and sometimes lose/beat 7800X3D. Depends on the game, and config used by tester. An 8000+ DDR5 14th gen will do much better than a 6000MTs test used by some outlets. If AMD is admitting they won't beat the X3D 7000 parts, then they will just match the 14th gen Intel chips in gaming, yet they claimed 10% better? Something is not adding up here for them. Maybe they're sandbagging though. Both of them do seem to be very quiet this launch. But not having the new boards ready to go, no mention of pricing from AMD seems odd. If they're not going to beat out 14th gen Intel in gaming, at least by any reasonable margin, how will they compete against Arrow Lake? Unless ARL is a total flop or goes backwards, ARL should offer superior gaming and multithreaded use. So it will make selling these non-3d parts more difficult unless priced competitively, again they're being quiet about price though. AMD X3D should be good for gaming and offer a nice bump. This gen certainly seems like it's going to be a lot more competitive. -

AMD's claims of a Zen 3 part, lower clocked at that beating out a 13700K is an absolute joke. Unfortunately some were eating this up. If Intel had done this, they would have had every outlets ripping them apart, but this HWU gloves on video is a joke. "This is very bad by AMD, it's very misleading". You think? https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/amds-ryzen-9000-wont-beat-the-previous-gen-x3d-models-in-gaming-but-theyll-be-close-improved-3d-v-cache-coming-too As I expected looking at AMD's charts at Computex, they won't even beat out the 7800X3D for gaming. The new motherboards won't be available at launch (not until September). Everything about this from AMD screams they are rushing it out to get some sales before Arrow Lake given the performance were seeing. -

Anyone looking for a cheap 13900KS -- tray https://www.centralcomputer.com/intel-core-i9-13900ks-13th-gen-processor-24-core-processor-tray-cm8071504820503.html Pretty decent price for a binned chip. @electrosoft MSI sent me that $20 Steam gift card for the PSU promo they are running on their registration website. Amazing deal for a "used' 1300w ATX 3.0 PSU lol. Brought my total price to $130. -

PSU arrived this weekend. I just opened it and took a look at it, looks brand new. Unfortunately it is missing a single cable, the mini USB to USB A cable? I have no idea what I would use that for because it has the mini USB to 9pin USB for the data stuff. Either way I reached out to Amazon support and they provided me with a 10% discount on the item. So got out the door with it for $150. And I just registered it to MSI website so I can submit my Amazon review link for the free $20 steam gift card. In the end this PSU might end up costing me $130 for something they're charging $325 retail on Amazon right now lol. Sometimes I love Amazon Warehouse deals. 😎 -

I had the top score for the 4070 Super, until someone came along and submitted a very obviously bugged score (+12% at similar clocks/power limit/temps ya riiiggghhtt). Luckily it seems they're doing their job over there, someone noticed and removed that bugged result. Luckily we now have a very easy tool to see the bugged results and can submit them for review as well. I heavily considering buying an AM5 rig with this new gen and then an Arrow Lake setup when they drop this fall. I sort of want to compare the 2 rigs and get some real first hand experience and hands on tuning with them. Unfortunately I have a feeling I'll be super disappointed but I'd love to make some comparison content with them. -

I've actually been in the market for a new PSU myself and EVGA is unfortunately out this time. I didn't quite get the deal you got, but I snagged one of them from Amazon warehouse at $166. Not a bad deal at all for a new PCIE 5.0 Platinum 1300w relatively compact unit. The new retail price is insane and I'm not paying that. Mine is supposed to arrive Monday, if it's faulty or beat up I'll just return it. -

I sold an SP99 13900K I had in the closet this morning. I put it in my system last night to ensure it was the SP99 chip, and did a quick test on it. It scored 43K in CB23? I ran this test multiple times and same results, highest real-time was 43.6K. I was like wtf. I've never scored that high at these power limits with a 420mm AIO and just 5.5Ghz P core stock. Is there some sort of Windows OS cancer that is getting applied to these Intel CPUs that didn't apply to mine? I then tested TimeSpy and score over 27K CPU, again abnormally high for a stock 13900K. I rebooted and checked power limits and mess with undervolt a tad, and upon reboot the score dropped to 40.6K. I was never able to get the score back, even with undervolt, overclock or power limit changes. I am now fully convinced Windows is applying some sort of cancer patch to these CPUs and harming performance. Have any of you seen this phenomena? All I did was swap my 14900KS to the 13900K. I sloppily attached the cooler and barely torqued it down as I figured I was just going to verify the SP and pull it. -
