It's annoying that if you notice in the USA pretty much all the major chains have raised prices from 10-45% and we've seen the "inflation" stories in the news all over. Sounds like just a snowjob to me. Inflation has been going on for years and years but it's hidden really, housing alone is a terrible example that's low key. I mean quantitative easing is inflation on a massive scale.  The dollar store is now the 1.25$ store now, +25%, oh but they're not changing their name of course. I noticed this first at walmart about 2 months ago usually in the 5-15% range but have noticed in other things I have bought there a 45-100% price hike. I've adjusted in food items going to regular supermarkets which are actually cheaper as well as non food items going to second hand stores. These mega retailers already made huge profits off of the previous prices for years and years especially walmart, the china store, so it's even more egregious. After all the terrible things of the last 2-3 years these guys have no problem further sticking it to everyone.

yes tooth paste is now 8 bucks. Imagine living off disability and a can of coffee is 20 bucks. these are not fun times and inflation is just an excuse. the government is throwing 100-200 at us and whats that going to buy, a bag of potato chips

A coworker of mine that I have been training for the 6 months was fired today. I was hoping she would be able to replace me in my current role but HR got involved, and now she is gone. Like I tell everyone, the more HR gets involved, the less Human I feel.

The one honest person I have come across and they got rid of her. Meanwhile I have more expensive people around me that cant scan a barcode accurately, show up when ever they want and dictate the terms of their roles.

Truly gutted

I remember working at weatherford. and as the main lab technician the company fired my right hand man. two weeks later he wanted to have a sobeys manager call me to hire him on as a supervisor, as a youngin I lied. I cant imagine the guy as a supervisor, he lied was lazy and I even caught him sleeping on the job and showing up hungover. terrible. will never forget that young man. I was 23 he was 21 and yeah times change. now im handicapped, and that my bros is whats bothering me. some random illness that has no cure.

Sorry to hear. At a risk of stating the very obvious, HR departments are there not to protect Humans but to protect the Business. If they got involved, it means that either the Human Resource posed a risk to the Business, or the Business determined they want to get rid of the person for any reason, and HR was tasked with figuring out a legally plausible cause for termination (that's probably less of an issue in the US with employment at will) . Dealing with those people is rarely pleasant, apart from perhaps in the hiring process when the company wants to hire you a lot and send easy on the eye HR people in to court the candidate (in which case they might want to ask themselves "what's the catch?").

Yeah, HR is a pleasant way of saying corporate spin doctors. Now I'm tasked with replacing her, an IT professional by trade and years of experience with unskilled labor hired off the street. Probably time for me to review my options.

Sounds like a sticky situation, sorry to hear. I will just drop these here, I have found this guy's videos to be fairly sensible and helpful:

bill c11 passed and in effect in canada. media is now under state control. world is turning into a commy party.

Bill C-11 amends the Broadcasting Act (the Act). The Act sets out the broadcasting policy for Canada, the role and powers of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (the Commission) in regulating and supervising the broadcasting system, and the mandate for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Not necessarily a problem - some oversight can be helpful, especially in the era of AI generated fake news. Depends on what the bill actually says. What caught your eye specifically?

I was under the impression as per the news that they will monitor and block certain things, thats what caught my eye. If I want the true it can't be filtered to suit the governments wants. we need free countries with freedom on information and freedom of speech. I have not noticed anything different about my internets content but hey, that could change, hopefully not but maybe it is just like the FCC and not nessessarily a bad thing. haven't done much research

OK, got you. Well, the UK setup looks more sensible then. It's a non-governmental organisation (Ofcom), it really is independent from the government, and their scope is fairly limited. I don't think they regulate user-generared content. They would stop TV news channels from spreading misinformation though.

it can be a good thing if you trust your government which I do. but comon its 2023 and we don't need a commy ploy. it's just manipulation, nothing more nothing less. We need guns banned, which they are doing. we need drugs banned, lol i Guess if you think weed is a drug then its a strike, but with feyntanol claiming countless lives I think the F dealers should be hung or given a life sentence, it just isn't cool. bad ass= cool. killing random people= not so cool

just lost a friend to F. she was 26 and never really did drugs. now shes gone. F opens the gates to killing people without accountability

It's so hard, and getting harder, to tolerate the abject stupidity... where is the bottom? This is what utopia is to the woke leftist. No thanks. It's time to take out the trash... and burn it. These idiot people don't deserve the air they breathe.

As far as something to celebrate goes, Target Partners With Group Pushing Wokeness it's always awesome to see financial harm visited upon companies that are run by corrupt leftists and unfit leadership. First Bud Light, now Target, I am excited to see whose turn it will be next to pay the price for being stupid and evil. I hope they all burn to the ground.

The guy seems to be a Russia-funded troll who won't even show his face lol, but I digress.

Well, you may not agree with the message and methods, but people should have the right to protest. What's really bad is that the failed quasi-fascist government here (on their way out within 18 months, fortunately), has used situations like this to push through legislation to limit the right to peaceful protest. There were some anti-monarchy demonstrations here recently during the new king's coronation (most Americans should get that!), and almost everyone just got arrested.

This is really messed up. Even if the guy actually was racist, it is none of Amazon's stinking business and they are totally out of line in their actions. If it is OK to be all of the other things that are offensive to 95% of the country why single that out based on their skewed definition of what that means. Can't have it both ways.

Smart kid. The notion of being an advocate against racism by promoting racism is ridiculous and absurd. Good video. Calling stupidity into question and casting light upon evil intentions is always a good thing. If you don't want to watch a 17 minute video, the meat of his message starts at about 10:35. Spot on.

This guy is pretty sharp. He calls proper attention to nonsense and casts the lies in proper perspective.

The reason truth is no longer taught in public schools is because the truth is at odds with the evil, idiotic, woke, socialist, anti-America narrative. They cannot brainwash our kids if they teach them the truth. Their agenda would die and their mission to create division and conflict would not succeed. The truth will set you free. Through deception, twisting facts, omitting important details and re-writing history to fit their agenda, they make our children slaves to their lies.

Time to start shipping the FBI leaders that refuse to answer these questions to Gitmo and waterboard them to extract the truth. The evil clowns protecting our illegitimate, senile, corrupt president and his family of criminals are domestic terrorists and deserve to be treated like terrorists. They should be stripped of their rights as American citizens due to treason and spend the rest of their lives in prison. I know a lot of people don't like Ted Cruz (puzzled why to be honest) but all he does is ask totally legitimate hard questions that the corrupt traitors always refuse to answer. Their job is to serve and protect, and they are an utter embarrassment to our nation.

Sadly its the new normal where big tech companies trying to be the moral police and control speech, Scary world we live in where you can have your devices shutdown for a BS reason. Speaking of that its funny that Amazon actually protected one of their employees after the company is known for treating their employees like crap for many years!.

Feels like I've run into a brick wall with photography. I'm kind of enjoying it but at the same time not so much. Trying to get a passive income at least to feel motivated but it's been really messy with the site I submitted to for licensing. Without notification I discovered both pictures disappeared as if I removed from licensing when I haven't done that myself. Let's hope closure is given to me.

So, that's been bothering me really hard because I've been at it for a few years and yet made no progress. I'm not a photoshoot person. But I've done a lot of nature photos. I'm slowly becoming at loss what to do next as I'm not very fit for different work. Passive income would help me keep motivated, which I thought it would be that simple.

I have family that both do and used to do photography for a living. They always tell me that it's very difficult, but rewarding once it works out. Just keep trying until you are completely exhausted. The worst scenario from your predicament is that you'll know how to take pictures that you deem great, which in my opinion, is the beauty of photography.

I've been looking at other sites that let you share them which I have joined, and been posting new images. I get some nice feedback and sometimes 100 views within the first 5 minutes. And they're ones that are in focus and not overblown or incredibly processed, many out of camera.

I'll keep trying, but the licensing stuff I worry may happen again. Hopefully there's definite demand of something Getty may approve.
