@Papusan

I have no intentions on keep this card. I went to Microcenter to pick up an order fo my client and asked if they had any cards left and they said they had 2. And 1 guy had one of them in his hand looking at it. I was like....Okay let me get the other one. This was at about 8:30AM and Microcenter opened at 6AM. 1 minute later 3 people came up asking about cards, but they were sold out.

I for my self... Want to see how all brand cards perform or see if some have flaws. And the same see tests/reviews of same cards different places. I don't like what I saw with etc the 4090 Zotac Amp Extreme as you saw in the pict I posted above. Never rush if you will spend a lots of money. Tech or other things doesn't matter. I do it the same way on the most I buy.

Yes i think the 4080 will be the sweetspot for gaming, also in 4k. 4090 is in many current titles overkill in 4k, paired with a good CPU.

OFFICIAL BENCHMARKS The gap between RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 is huge

The GeForce RTX 4090 heralded Nvidia's new GPU generation with trumpets. With the RTX 4080, it's not just the price that's going downhill.

You mean with the castrated or the real 4080? The 4080@12GB card is a Scam!

In reality, that is how it should have always been. No way a XX90 should be paced by a XX80 card.

So as to your other question....so far it seems like 465W is max.

Yeap I'll gladly sit on my RTX 3090 Ti for the living room PC after seeing this performance. The 4090 is just in another league of it's own, it's unreal.

1070 beat barely the 980 Ti. This because of the huge uplift in performance with Pascal over Maxwell. And xx90 is here only to milk max and to keep AMD from taking the first place. + we now got a huge performance uplift again with Ada over Ampere.

I wonder where they will put in the Ti cards after they have pushed out the xx50-xx60 and xx70 cards. All is up to what AMD can do with their next gen cards.

I got to say, Zotac might be my EVGA GPU replacement. I need to find out how horrible their warranty service is on the scale of pathetic alternatives to EVGA. This chintzy Zotac 3060 Twin Edge OC that I purchased brand new on Amazon for less than $400 to replace my malfunctioning 2080 Ti FTW3 has given me no reason for disappointment. I played 4 hours of Crysis Remastered last night with everything maxed out, including ray tracing, and the boost clocks held at max from room temperature to maximum steady state temperatures, thermals were good and it was excellent. Was it 150+ FPS like the 2080 Ti and 3090? Nope, but I never would have known it was 85-100 FPS but for the RTSS on-screen overlay telling me so. This was the cheapest 3060 I could find for sale and I can't find anything wrong with it, other than it is not a flagship GPU model. I would have wasted my money buying a more expensive brand. Even overclocked to 2125 core (+200) it doesn't lose clock speeds. It pegs the power limit and just stays there. Like all GPUs should.

Maybe I am too old school, but I prefer the straight lines, square corners, boxey-looking plain black parts over the swoopy curves and wavy lines, and weird colors, that are so popular with the kiddos. Some of the fancy gamerboy crap we see now is just so tacky and gaudy looking. While results do matter most, based on aesthetics I will choose classy over flashy any day.

When I was at Microcenter I was making my ranking list of what I would go for if the Strix wasn't there. Unfortunately the SuprimX was not available at all, so I started researching the cards. The Zotac this generation is excellent looking. Honestly this gen I would have been happy with the Asus Strix, Gigabyte, Zotac Extreme, or MSI SuprimX.

I would avoid the MSI Trio, they didn't give the card a vapor chamber from what I could see. That is total shit move if true.

While I have expressed my jealousy and disappointment that there is no Microcenter in Phoenix on more than one occasion, it is probably best that there is not in the grand scheme of things. Behaving myself and avoiding financial foolishness would be much more difficult if there were one here.

Apparently there is not much point in OCing this, but well done finding any stock at all today. Nvidia def learned their lessons on how to manage stock to extract max value 🙂

oookay lots of posts to reply to after watching lord of the rings with my lady 😄 so here we go...

yeah thanks man, i feel vindicated after virtually running around like a madman. also added overnight express shipping, so card will be here tomorrow 🙂 and something was MOSDEF sus today, it seemed like shops were releasing cards in small batches before blocking their sites again. it even took like 30-40 minutes before i saw ANY cards in stock for the first time.

rofl, that card makes your case look "regular sized" even though we all know its HUGE 😄

Well from what i saw the AIB cards. Strix and tuf are not that much cooler as the FE. Jayztwocents says araund 2 celsius and gearseekers says 5 6 degrees for the tuf and it dependals of the game. Personally for me this is not worth the  price increase over FE.

it depends on what kinda load ure looking at. have a looksie at the TPU cooler comparison and ull see there are definitely significant differences:

noise-normalized-temperature.png

the strix even comes close to the Suprim Liquid X, with the air cooled Suprim X just a tad behind.

Everyone is buying the scalper GPU’s on eBay. I’m shocked we are even doing this again. If they’d just wait for the next inventory load they would get one.

I saw them in Newegg for $1,599 for several hours until they finally sold out.

u gotta be kidding me... during my crazy 1.5 hour search today i saw the following:

- FE and good AIB cards either out of stock or offered at insane prices at scalper shops or private sales

- crappy AIB cards in stock at good prices (MSRP or just slightly above)

- "meh" cards like the Gamerock or Gigabyte cards at below scalper but definitely way over their actual MSRP prices

so it was reaaaally tough to make a proper decision. im just glad i kept my cool sufficiently to compute the TPU reviews and make a decision lulz.

only small gripe i have with the Suprim X is its power limit capped at 520W, but no worries there, ill just flash a 600W vbios whenever it becomes available 😛 thats when the 26 phase VRMs will pay out mwahaha.

I saw this a bit ago and I agree. On the other hand, everyone of my local Microcenters have 4090's in stock but only the trash models (Zotac, MSI low end, etc...).

Best Buy and Newegg are sold out but the day is young and those who buy from eBay are going to be kicking themselves when a month from now everything is back in stock plus AMD on the horizon.

yep thats exactly what i saw today, only the "trashy" cards in stock... 😅 but at least at or close to the MSRP!

thats what im hoping for@kicking themselves! i also saw a LOT of scalper prices, both from private sellers AND shops! but i told myself id rather go empty handed today than give such pricks my money! NOT WITH ME!

Unfortunately GPU-Z can't read my vBIOS yet. Hopefully just needs an update to read/save vBIOS.

500w default with 600w PWL at max slider. Of course the card doesn't need anywhere near this it seems. The cards are just stupid overbuilt this gen. Nvidia must have been thinking far higher power draw, the AIB partners built to that SPEC and now where have super size cards that don't pull anywhere near 600w. At least were not worried about hitting PWL anymore.

whenever u get it saved, pls send it my way, will ya? wanna get rid of the measly 520W limit on the MSI 😄

and yes, totally overbuilt coolers. but u know smth? i prefer to have a beefy but cool and quiet card rather than a screaming lava box. also happy about the PL finally being "enough" for the gpu to properly stretch its legs 🙂

edit: looks like there are already a bunch of 4090 vbios out on TPU, NICE:

edit: looks like there are already a bunch of 4090 vbios out on TPU, NICE:

It would appear that all these cards, including the FE, are fairly cool and quiet... the magic of 5nm. Yes, there are are some minor differences, which clearly have a lot to do with fan curves, that's user-adjustable anyway. Of course, if you want to try hacks, shunt mods etc. then boombox (or WC) all the way regardless of other considerations.

600w Power Limit.jpg

My 2080 Ti and 3090 KPE have both exceeded 800W in some demanding benchmarks. I think that is going to present some limitations. It probably will be more than adequate for gaming, but not for overclocked benching unless the firmware and thermals artifically cripple the performance to such an extent that achieving overclocking superiority is a futile endeavor that has no remedy.

Definitely going to need either shunt or truly EVGA/Galax class unlocked BIOS to see where it starts to tap out....

haha yep mighty impressive cooling line there. although i must admit im impressed how close the STRIX is getting to the liquid cooled card...at higher powers it might even overtake it.

The idea of spilling 500-600w of heat in my case does not excite me though. 🙂

I won't be doing that song and dance ever again....

At least the FE spits a large chunk of it out but I do remember feeling all that heat radiating from the rear side mem and the fins being very hot on my FE 3090.

Yep, liking it too, but probably for a different reason - it takes just two slots (plus the design seems fine).

On the other hand it looks like it requires an even wider case to accomodate the tubing though (plus need case space for another AIO). Probably time to start researching a new case either way...

Also curious about the reliability and servicability. If there is a problem with a CPU AIO, you just swap in another one (unless it leaked...), with this you need to RMA the whole card I guess. Or maybe it doesn't matter vs air cooled: would probably need to RMA a failed fan anyway.
