HeHe. What is a day without new smoke and fire? New one out. But where is Nvidia? Planning, an escape route without looking stupid? Just start the recall!! The longer they wait, the worse it will be. Just don't let the stupid engineers that said the adapter was good enough to be shipped with 4090, examine the burnt cards/adapters😁

I have always loved @Papusan's post. They're one of my favorites not just because their informational but funny too. When NBR went down, one of my thoughts was, "How am I going to enjoy Papu's posts now?" 😁

@Etern4l  lol! Well played. 🙂

For those of you that like small systems and don't loathe air cooling, the rig it this guy's signature is very cool. It looks like a speaker or amplifier box with a mini-ITX inside of it. Pretty creative idea that looks neat even though I don't think I would like owning it. The specs are pretty unimpressive, but it looks great as a novelty build.

AMD have some strong 16GB GPU hardware, even the current gen is impressive enough. Unfortunately, their professional software support is no match for Nvdia, or Intel - as same caveat applies to their CPUs. At least they exert a good deal of competitive pressure on Green and Blue teams on the pure gaming end.

Igorslab already figured it out and fixed it. Now they would only need to follow his lead and send out new cables under that direction and recall all cables and cards with even 1% damage for replacement.

That is....if they really do have cards sitting around. (AIB partners)(Nvdia)

Yep, but I think nvidia will be plagued with this a long time if not all the buyers get a notice from where they bought the cards/notice in their bloatware package (GeForce Experience) to warn people about the danger using their stupid engineered adaper. Will be fun see what nvidia will say about this topci in coming press releases. Will they try talk it down (fire fighting to reduce the damage on own reputation) and say only a few adapters are affected by the flaws? We'll see 🙂

Buildzoid isn't fully sure the problem Igorslab have found is the only one. But weird this badly designed adapter slipped through Nvidia's quality control/validation. Maybe they test own products in the same way as Microsoft do for their CU patches? Only a few tested, then rush it out to meet deadline.

Good Afternoon,

How unfortunate! Wish you the best of luck, I cant even get these blokes not to double-triple post so often. Besides, they have been scorning AMD for a near decade for its lackluster presence in the laptop market. Pendulums only swing so far before returning, though in this case it seems you gave it a helping hand. Something about a fancy form over function connector that melts? Perhaps focus is do in that arena.

Sincerely,

Internet Bloke

I guess if we start experiencing 3.0 PSU and power cable (single cable) failures then we could assume so, but as of right now no one has came forth with that as being an issue....YET!

Not sure how those single cables are put together because no one has torn one apart yet. I would really need to see that before submitting 100% to the idea that it is also safe.

Edit

To add, it was actually one of the main reasons driving me forward with that purchase. It was 1 cable and not 4 or 3 cables into 1

Absolutely true. Rasterization is going to be a monster but everything else will most likely lack the fit and finish of Nvidia's products as always down to AI and professional software.

Beat Nvidia flat out in raw performance but as soon as you want RT enabled things will get shaky real fast. I would laud Nvidia's drivers but it took them almost 8 months to fix their own drivers they broke themselves for WoW and we suffered with flickering textures everywhere because of it.

I'm still hoping they force Nvidia to adjust pricing and release the 4090ti ASAP.

Same AMD CPU hitching in WoW means this generation is DOA for me.

Y’all check out this thermal paste!!

Thermal conductivity 17 W/mk

I ordered some, I’ll let you know how it is once delivered. I can tell it’s crazy hard to spread like TFX probably even worse.

Trying to tune out this 13900K to as little power and heat as possible while only gaining in performance. I was playing Doom Eternal capped at 165 fps earlier and my max cpu power was 60 watts 😎

Would be good to have some alternative to the hard to get but seemingly unbeatable Phobya Nanogrease Extreme. I tried this new CoolerMaster CryoFuze (14 W/mk) on a GPU recently. Meh.

Better price here. If you like it and want to order more, this might be a better option if shipping cost doesn't eat up the savings. https://modmymods.com/alphacool-apex-17w-mk-thermal-grease-4g.html

Yeah shipping is high from them. Kinda like performance PC’s too if you spend less than $99 dollars that is. Those (2) adapter fittings I ordered for my water chiller are like $6.99 each, whenever I ordered two of them for $13.99, the shipping was $17.55 LOL.

When it comes to purchasing, especially with low cost items that have little profit margin, it is almost impossible for the rest of the world to compete with Amazon because almost everything they sell includes free delivery. Shipping prices have never been more out of control than they are now, probably due to the cost of fuel. I'm sure it makes it harder for small businesses to stay afloat, along with all of the other brandonomics that have royally screwed things up.

Hey, this T-Force A-Die runs crazy cool!

I just have it at XMP 7200 C34, tFAW 16, and 262K+ tREFI. So far I’ve gone 1HR as of typing this. I even have the voltage increased from 1.400 to 1.435V (Which I don’t think it needs at all) And it runs 37-39C. Just a fan blowing on it.

(16) iterations of HCI Memtest.

This is the same OC profile that does around 260 watts max through R23 (30 Minute)

I just have it at XMP 7200 C34, tFAW 16, and 262K+ tREFI. So far I’ve gone 1HR as of typing this. I even have the voltage increased from 1.400 to 1.435V. And it runs 37-39C. Just a fan blowing on it.

(16) iterations of HCI Memtest.

This is the same OC profile that does around 260 watts max through R23 (30 Minute)

Yeah that's typical with the fan blowing on them. That does wonders. It helps that you're on an open bench as well because the fans are pushing cooler air over them. If I take the side panels off of my case they run even cooler than they do with it closed up in a hot air accumulator.

Take the fan away and cover them with the towel so that there's no cool air around them and watch what happens LOL. I've had three of those kits and they are exactly the same as the other brands. The heatsinks that the manufacturers put on them are absolute joke. They are actually nothing more than beautification covers that trap heat. "Pigs in the blanket" is what I call it. Removing the beauty covers helps as well.

Honestly, I don’t believe I need the fan. And I don’t have any other fans going at all. Just my water chiller runs. My large radiator and fans are covered with a towel to keep from contaminating water temp. Chiller is set to a 65F liquid temp daily 24/7. 😀

But I will unplug the single fan and see what happens. I’ll also take the voltage back to 1.400 on the memory. I’m curious to see how warm it gets. They’ll be passively cooled by the room air only, no fans.

Also! MSI kindly offered a nice gap between the modules unlike EVGA Z590 Dark lol. They were practically touching.

If you find you do not need a fan it will be an exception to the norm.

There is nothing special about the modules or their beauty covers. As I said, I have had three Delta kits and they all suffer from the same thing that their competitors do: a crappy heating blanket they call a heat sink. They run hotter with the "heatsink" than they do with nothing. The extra space between the sticks didn't change the temperatures for me. Temperatures were exactly the same in either mobo. With a fan blowing on them they run cool (32-35°C running memory stress tests). If I turned the fan off they couldn't finish a TM5 test without errors. @johnksssand I were talking one day and he wasn't sure the fan was making a difference for his G.SKILL modules. He turned the fan off while we wre talking and his memory overheated and Windows crashed.

You are absolutely right! I turned my fan off and they started erroring of out within 45 seconds with no fan. I saw the temps hit 44C then maybe 45C and errors started popping up left and right. I BSODed before I could even close the HCI Memtest. They were already under load for 1hr+ prior to removing the fan.

I reduced voltage to 1.400V and temps are even lower now. And stable in HCI Memtest have not tried again without a fan. But, I’m gonna just leave the fan for sure 😂

DDR5 needs a fan like our CPU’s need thermal paste LOL.

I may consider water cooling my ram. And then remove the fan to prevent all that dust build up. DDR5 is awesome though! I love it. Very fast. Very stable “With a fan” 🤣

Anyways, I still think they’re special. Only because they are Hynix A-Die and awesome so far.

I don't think I'm gonna get better results than this from my super 10900K unless I move the CPU back into my X170 and ghetto rig up some extreme cooling to the CPU part of the unified heatsink. This CPU requires less voltage in my X170 for the same clock speeds when running it at normal temperatures. Gigabyte's motherboards consistently require more voltage than other motherboard brands to keep the CPU stable at any given speed.

Imagine a 10900K running at 5.7, maybe even 5.8 GHz in a Clevo X170. Now that would be a sight to behold! I already got it running at 5.5 GHz on semi-normal cooling in this laptop. Time to move it back.
