You managed to jinx things in the most positive way possible. 🤣

Personally I'd say go for it. I'd be very interested to see what CENS could do with the chip, and I'd use the money to go buy a 13900KS on release. This is your ticket to getting "free upgrades" on your hardware.

Basically what I mean by that is that you'll no longer have to pay out of pocket for hardware upgrades. I know some members on this forum fund all their hardware upgrades by selling their old parts or systems, and therefore hadn't had to pay out of pocket for new hardware for a while now. I could do this myself with all I have sitting around, but I'm not good at finding people to buy my stuff. 🤣

Man, sell that chip and buy another. Unless you plan on benching that chip for record points.

Then tell him to show you the SP rating. LOL.

If the chip is really that good, I'd say $1200-1300 is a fair offer. It really comes down to how many do you have to buy to get something similar in quality and from what I've seen you do have a pretty golden chip. I would ask for $1300, and have to be happy with just getting an average K or KF chip, not that that is a bad thing. Honestly these chips even at stock settings are so blazing fast that pushing for the last 2-300mhz for most just isn't worth it. For overclocking fun there is value, but for a daily/gaming rig it just isn't.

Look at it this way, you could buy another chip and set the cash aside for next gen or put it towards a new GPU and fire extinguisher.

Not sure when the KS version pop up. But at that time it will lose lots of value. Also did you get answers what he thought regarding EVGA stuff? Maybe you can sell the freebees you may get as well (+1000$ for the Cpu).

If he is in the same part of the world Roman is in...that might be a hard sale.... Didn't he buy a chip for like 1400 euro?

Edit:

I may have that wrong. The exchange rate is better than I thought. Not sure about vat and shipping.

So he would come out way better than Roman at 1K than he did for an "average" chip at 1400 euro (speculations)

So 1200 or 1300 would not be out of the question

I'd say sleep on it, and if you sell it, do so with a clause that the chip was tuned @ NBT.  :classic_ninja:

I may have a small bias though lol, honestly though I'd weigh the options. CENS could come across a better chip and the offer goes away, you basically still have your chip and continue business as usual. Otherwise you basically get to try your hand with the Silicon Lottery again with some spare change in your pocket. It might make a 4090 purchase more reasonable, unless you already got one? Its hard to keep up with peoples builds sometimes.

I would lean towards selling it only in the instance that @Mr. Fox mentioned. Where gaming takes #1 seat and benching takes #2. I would still sleep on it as I imagine it would take a little time to get the PC torn down again, and if you dont have another system to float you then your basically on down time again.

Can you still get away with using Windows 10 for the most part or is Windows 11 being pushed?

It only applies to submissions that use Benchmate, and it still supports Windows 7. I don't understand what they mean by update the benching OSes, other than only use the latest version of Benchmate. Updating a benching OS is a great way to lose since updated OSes generally perform poorly compared to those that are not updated.

Using benchmate is not  required for all benchmarks. There are plenty that do not (and cannot) use it. I really don't like it. It is convenient in some ways, but it's just an extra piece of bloatware gumming up the works.

Finally showed up direct from China. No more need to use Nvidia's cable. There have been 0 reports of actual ATX 3.0 or 3rd party cable issues. Only the Nvidia adapter so I can rest easy with this since these are quality cables.

Good point, there is also a risk of something going wrong with the transaction, especially if we are talking overseas shipping. Can be insured against probably, again extra hassle.

More on the topic. I would push for double the price of retail price + freebies he mentioned. Remember Evga is still not out with their new Z790 motherboards. I think Evga will promote good bench results for the release. So I would speed up this with Cens now if gaming is your priority nr #1.

Gigabyte did the same for their motherboards. Great bench results to help the sales of their new boards.

Yes, that China. The COVID-developing one that Uyghurs and the people of Ukraine love so much. The one in partnership with Russia that wants to eliminate freedom, democracy, free-will, free-speech, capitalism and religious expression in the rest of the world. Isn't it interesting how things work in countries where the government is a fiat that is not a true reflection of the people it seeks to serve rule?

I feel like this is a long shot, but given the lack of corporate constraints, perhaps the community could furnish a little thread in Off-topic for this kind of light and exclusively non-/anti-political stuff. How about something satirical like "Mr Fox and Friends" 😁  Could be members-only access for the peace of mind. I've seen something similar on one of the main UK cycling forums.

I decided to keep my 13900KF ECO model. I was tempted to ask like $1,000. But I’m attached to it. Plus, I would just have to go out and buy another one lol. I would be merely selling something just to sell something. Then spend more time

and money potentially crying over another one LOL. And all the 13900KF’s are sold out until 11/8, which is what I’d be after if I had to buy another.

I Blame @electrosoft for getting me all in to testing for low power consumption. 😄

Quite honestly I'd keep it even for $1k. Top tier new gen CPUs that are truly golden can command 1.5-2k.

Or another way to look at it:  is it worth selling for what will amount to ~$300 profit when everything is said and done?  How much did you pay? Subtract fees, S&H and you don't have much left over. What you DO have is a top tier chip that is crushing everything in its site and is a top 10% silicon at the very worst.

You will have a killer bin you will enjoy for at least a few years and you haven't even delidded it yet.

Remember all the joy you experienced as you continued to extract every bit of performance out of your 11900k over the last few years.

I wouldn't let it go for less than 1.5k if you are about the $$$.

Many forums employ an, "Anything goes / off topic" area and they are a blessing and a curse.

I say this as someone who has moderated forums before numerous times over the decades.

Blessing is you can redirect all off topic / hot topics to that area and let everyone know this is where it belongs and what comes in here stays in here. Non-standard discussions can happen, users can vent and well civilized members know how to leave it at the door and be open minded of everyone and everything while they argue their viewpoints and carry on.

The curse is rarely do feelings or emotions stay constrained in that thread and tend to spill out into other areas with chips on shoulders everywhere as forum members will carry over their opinions of other members into their posts and it eventually shows.

Even worse, you will attract the dregs (on all sides) who will simply join just to pour fuel on the fire. I remember seeing new members sign up on previous sites/forums/BBSes/Usenet JUST to post in the off topic areas and stir the pot.

Politics and religion are really persona non grata in most forums because you end up with a festering wound that never can truly heal once it bursts.  Personally, whenever politics or religion enter the fray, I tend to quickly scroll by and keep it moving. If I want my fair share of religion and politics I'll check my Facebook for that (In all seriousness I don't engage there either).

I remember on NBR there were quite a few flare ups over the years once Politics / religion somehow worked their way into tech threads and mods had to clean up quite a bit.

I will obey, but it's not politics IMHO. It is repudiation of evil foreign governments that do not allow politics. Nothing political about that. It's actually anti-political in their world of rule by dictatorship.

I do not disagree, in general when there is a quick quip here and there, I dont intervene. As its more work for me, and insufferable for our members. Lets just say it looked like a good place to exit the highway.

An interesting idea, shoot me a PM when you have some spare time I'd like to flesh it out.

Nice! Good to know it isn't the memory itself and the motherboard in G2. How does it work in G1?

I definitely like the overall colors and vertical mount really dials it in.

Exactly this. Which is why I said at a $1300 would be my lowest price for the chip. Plenty of extreme OC players will gladly pay that and more.

Sure, a section like that could prove to be a somewhat heavier lift for the admin team, but remember this is so far a very small community. I'm sure any dregs would be identified and robustly banned in no time (perhaps it's even possible to ban someone from a section of the forum?). One of the major challenges for our civilization in general (but Western in particular), is the pervasive polarization and inability to have a normal conversation. So having a facility to exercise that would be a positive, in that broader sense.

Yeah if you think about it, It really isn’t

all that amazing selling it for just $1,000 dollars. Not to mention, any 13900K chip is already selling for $800-$900 new on Amazon and eBay due to being “Out of stock”
