Much better value than Corsairs $540 dollar Dominator Platinum A-Die Lol 🤣.

 

You can get great performance from Hynix M-Die and for $182 USD it’s really not bad at all. I don’t think I have nearly exploited the full potential of my Hynix A-Die though.

 

People are stabilizing DDR5 8000 on Z790 Strix-F boards with minimal effort lol. So, I’m starting to think this is a real limitation within Z690. 
 

But then again, it’s all about value at the end of the day. So, you’d not only need A-Die, but also a expensive Z790 motherboard to go along with it. And high end previous Z690 boards were a great value compared to Z790 Hero which is like $620 and essentially a mid range motherboard. While top end Z690 Darks could be had for $450 brand new on eBay. “Not anymore”

The farthest I could push my M-Die (so far) 7800 CL36 with auto timings. Unfortunately not stable. 7200 CL34 just passed 30 minutes stability testing no issues at stock 1.435v. Insane value dimms.

Well, 36 years ago today I tied the knot with Mrs. Fox. Doesn't seem possible it was that long ago. A lot has changed. A lot has not changed. I have made a lot of stupid mistakes in those 36 years. Marrying her was the smartest thing I think I have ever done. I'd be lost without her.

Edit: Hell even 7800 CL36 is booting on these cheap-0 sticks lol. Runs AIDA64. Loosened the TRFC a bit and set voltage to 1.5v. 

Here is another amazing value on M-die modules. I really prefer buying non-RGB without heating blankets. They run much cooler totally naked due to the utterly worthless crap the OEMs use to smother them, and it makes adding actually functional aftermarket heatsinks or water cooling jackets so much less complicated.

I want some A-die, but I think it is severly overpriced and overrated like everything else is, especially when it is new. I am not willing to pay double, or triple, for it though. It provides too little benefit for the added premium. I suspect the price will come down to reason, just as it did with M-die, once the new wears off.

@tps3443 look at this post and check the photo of the IHS. This is EXACTLY how my delid turned out on the 12900K. I mentioned that I had to lap it to fix the damage the delid caused to it. The 12900KS sustained similar damage to the "wing" that sticks out on the side. I was able to repair that by sanding the underside (CPU-facing surface) flat. I have not delidded the 13900K yet. It looks like his got a little bit of damage in both places (highlighted yellow). I warmed the CPU the first time. Waste of time doing that. According to Roman (der8auer) it is actually detrimental because the soft solder smears instead of shears. He recommends doing it to a cold CPU to cause the solder to shear more easily. I have done it cold since and it was easier. No need to push it back the opposite direction because it was already loose. It wasn't loose the first time because the solder smeared or stretched. (The heating may have also softened the IHS... not sure on that.) The lapped IHS works better, but it's ruined in terms of identification markings.

It's really difficult to view the performance of M-die as anything short of excellent. It doesn't take you quite as far as the A-die that costs a lot more, but where it does take you is pretty stinking sweet.

Its working as it should, silly mishap in config and Im chasing the problem back into its rabbit hole haha

 

I havent had time for additional tuning quite yet, work kept me awfully busy. Should have some more time tomorrow.

lol ure making a lot of assumptions here my friend 😄 first up, no one said anything about any cheap amazon noname branded cables. im actually talking about native 12VHPWR cables that are shipped as part of highend PSUs, i.e. Seasonic or Corsair that actually sport 2x8 pin connectors on the PSU side and the 16-pin connector on the gpu side. all those cables that are natively shipped and included with those psus are rated at 600W. the 3x vs. 4x 8pin connectors was and is a discussion for the adapters provided by third parties like cablemod or Nvidia as included with the 4090s. those go between the psus and the gpu as a potentially added point of failure. and those would either be rated for 450W with 3 connectors or 600W with 4 connectors.

so then: if the cables included with the PSUS and rated for 600W all sport 2x8 pin connectors on the psu side, then why would cablemod go and suddenly make those 3 or 4 connectors? unless they just took the wonky adapters as design reference and copy pasted. dont tell me that cablemod knows their stuff better than someone like corsair or Seasonic, that suggestion aint gonna fly 😄

be that as it may that cablemod is known for their products, but so is Nvidia. and look what their crappy adapters are causing atm. so thats not really an argument...

so, all this put together, in the context of the native 2x8 pin psu cables i find it "interesting" to say the least and a bit sus at the worst that cablemod would come up with a 3x8 pin or 4x8 pin design that is reminiscent of those crappy included adapters that go up in smoke left an right...

You got me. I have never bought GPU/PSU power cables from Aliexpress before. I also have a standardized 3.0 PSU with real Gen 5 single cable. (300V/80C/16AWG(per wire)) The sheath braiding seems tighter on my EVGA 1600W T2 than on my Thermaltake 1650W GF3. And before anyone decides to jump on those specs. My EVGA 1600T2 wires are spec'd exactly the same word for word(VCG) for the 8 pin PCIE cables.

 

Edit:

I will be getting the angled adapters from Cablemod just to have for any future projects that may need a 90 or 180 degree turn. Or I get an HOF 4090 that has 2 12VHPWR ports. 🙂

 

Edit:

I had to take a real look at my cables and see I do in fact have 2 12VHPWR cables so all ready for HOF card.

so, all this put together, in the context of the native 2x8 pin psu cables i find it "interesting" to say the least and a bit sus at the worst that cablemod would come up with a 3x8 pin or 4x8 pin design that is reminiscent of those crappy included adapters that go up in smoke left an right...

 

Again, those cables they are packaging are not native 12VHPWR cables, they are cables that are adapted to meet the spec using existing power supplies, so potentially another point of failure if we use the same analogy you used for a CableMod cable. You do realize the CableMod cable is doing exactly the same thing the Corsiar or Seasonic adapted cables are doing, right? The difference is that CableMod decided to go for more redundancy and lighten the load per 8pin cable vs forcing 300w down the cable that is actually SPEC'd for just 150w.

Obviously we all know the cables can handle far more, but why push it when you can not be cheap and provide a quality cable? Also they know some XOC community will want to push even beyond 600w, and future cards could easily draw beyond that. So again, redundancy and headroom is the way to go. 

 

The only PSUs that have native 12VHPWR are ATX 3.0 PSUs which have a 12VHPWR connection on the PSU, they do not use 8pin to the 16 pin.

@tps3443 @johnksss @Mr. Fox Have you tried lowering your CPU VDDQ/IVR TX Voltage/VDDQ TX Voltage. Honestly we need a same naming scheme across brands. 

 

For me to get higher A-Die stable clocks/push it hard you need to actually heavily decrease this voltage which is opposite of what you would think. For me 1.18-1.26v is the sweet spot, with mine liking 1.26v for 7800 CL36. 

 

With M-Die it was opposite and higher VDDQ TX helped to a point, usually around 1.375v worked for higher than 7000. 

 

I think I read somewhere that you should run it 10% below the VDD/VDDQ on the DRAM. So say you're running 1400mV-1435mV for A-Die, that would put you in the ballpark of 1260mV for VDDQ TX.

 

Likewise if you're running higher voltage for M-Die, say 1500-1550mV, again it puts you around 1350-1395mV.

Funny you mention that. I discovered this today. I noticed while playing with the Luumi, Kingpin and CENS profiles they always set it lower or left it on "auto" and that worked better for me, too.

Using same voltage, but started lowering the sa voltage. Going to try to get that out of the way...maybe it's the problem as I was using auto at first.

The dam stupid bend mess from Intel eat up all my better thermal paste. Got it work at 3rd or 4th try. Was stuck at 800MHz and the SP prediction was total wacko.

As a footnote. Idiocy in high potense that you need to take out the Cpu from the socket, then clear cmos (or flash new/old bios with it's risk) if the Asus SP prediction fail due intel's stupid made ILM. How dificult is it to let the clear cmos button do the job, Asus? Halfbaked.
