Ive gone back and forth over the years, although I have not built an Intel system since the Pentium 4 days, I have always preferred the longevity of AMD's socket architecture, instead of the one and done. Unless there is a change in PCIE, USB, SATA standards, there is no reason to purchase another motherboard. Earlier I was using a 3rd gen Ryaen on a 1st gen board, and there was nothing missing, as far as performance.

@Mr. FoxHows that surfboard fit in your case? Is someone needing an EVGA DG case?

It has plenty of room. This case is gigantic and doesn't have any cooling components inside of it.. But, that's neither here nor there because I love that EVGA monstrosity of a case. Let's see how much it would cost to ship if it is still available. I will PM you my address.

how can anyone call them efficiency cores when they alone run faster then most cpu's from 2 years ago 😄
this 13900k is effectively two
CPUs wrapped in one 😮

The E-cores Baby cores don’t have HT. They are just Joke cores designed for weaker mobile laptop chips! With HT they would eat +30% more power and the OC potential would sink as a stone in the Death sea filled with 100% salt😎

I agree. They are "joke cores" indeed. They are literally Intel Atom cores designed for smartphones and tablets. In some systems they actually call them by the correct name in the BIOS, but others refer to them as "efficiency" cores, LOL. You need to overclock at least 16 of them to perform like a stock 8th Gen Intel 8-core CPU with hyperthreading.

I didn't need AMD for that. Z170.... 6700K-7700K-8700K (6 cores beating AMDs 8 cores around same gen) and finally 9900K. Went from 4 cores to 8 cores on same old Intel platform. Can't be much better than this on a old platform.

Now we are back to Intel's screw up with two upgrade cycles (official) and AMD launcing refreshed Cpu's the year after with almost no performance uplift (Older Ryzen xxxx-X to xxxx-XT with almost no performance gain and from unlocked chips to fully locked down X3D "gaming" processors as the refresh). Sad times forwards.

Nice. Is it crysis 3 remastered or the original...either way that's impressive

Remastered. That's also with the CPU at 6.0GHz on P-cores, 4.8GHz on E-cores, 50x cache and DDR5-8000. It would probably run as well with all of that stock. I doubt it adds a ton of frames, and generally doesn't with most games.

sure its doable, its also a simple tweak,
get external enclosure connected via thunderbolt and put a 4090 desktop variant in it 😄

Time spy is a specific DX12 sahder bench,
there's allot more outside DX12 shader realm your 3060 can do very well,

lets not forget what we see here on this thread is the equivalent of F1 racing backstage access, this is the highest possible performance standards most cannot afford to dabble in, but give it two years and it becomes the new base standards, that is a simple trend/loop to follow,

the reality is this is insane performance and we all agree on that, give it 6 months and or when the next iteration comes out with 16 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores if someone was to give you this 13900K chip when the 14900k will be out you will raise a brow and look down at it,
just remember this moment/intersection and let it serve you into the future,

That is a Rog Strix - would also be interested to hear which one.

Rog Strix G18 seems to be the best bang for the buck this generation at 2.5K with the 4080 and the 13980HX.

I cannot stand how these look and they only have two memory and storage slots but if 2+2 slots and the looks are OK they offer excellent performance from what I can see.

@Talon is it correct that the CPU only went up to 84°C for that 33K CR23?

That would be extremely impressive!

It's a Strix 18 with 4080/13980HX. Honestly a pretty incredible deal for the package overall. Unfortunately I have to return it in the morning as mine arrived with 2 dead pixel clusters/dirt under the display right next to each other almost top/center area. Pretty annoying TBH. But the display itself is pretty incredible and for 18" display area, 6-7lbs isn't bad at all. Too bad it's all BGA, but damn this thing is fast for a laptop.

Now I have to wait for BB to get another unit in since they're sold out. I wish they would let you order a replacement and keep current until then, but nope.
