clean both surface sides with 70% alcohol and let it evaporate,

1.jpg

apply a layer of electrical tape as a protective layer on the cpu/dgpu silicon all around the die as close as you can, apply LM TIM on cpu/dgpu and the copper side on the heat pipe,

2.jpg

and finally use the soft one side adhesive weather strip to create a protection wall around the cpu/dgpu right on the electrical tape application as shown below and above (cut it to fit your space its a bit wide, note i was lazy and didn't apply the electrical tape layer in these early images)

Supercool GEN13 is back in-Stock again! They have like 30 left. Mine already shipped, I am currently using a GEN12 Supercool, and I’m upgrading to the new and improved GEN13 Supercool.

These already sold out yesterday, and they are back in stock once again. I’d grab one while you can, they are super RARE.

Exactly what bro @electrosoft need. New HW to hide any Coil whine coing from his pc's. This just show how crippled Gen 5.0 drives will be if used in new modern Jokebooks. They can't cope with the heat without something has to be sacrificed.

No need to be bothered with Coil whine anymore bro Electro. Just buy new modern NVMe ssd's😎 And you don't need spend time with returns/RMA. So double win😁

I'd personally rather go with cheap high capacity SATA SSDs now that prices have been falling and are rumored to continue falling till or through next month. I personally don't notice a difference in performance between NVME SSDs and SATA SSDs, probably because consumer workloads benefit more from random read/write speeds than sequential read/write speeds.

You can get a 4TB SATA TLC SSD from Crucial for about $230 now. It's amazing how SSD prices continue to drop.

One interesting thing I noticed about G.Skill RAM, other than it running on high voltage (I guess liquid cooling would be good there!) is that they show low CL, but then the other timings are markedly higher. Marketing gimmick or does this translate to real-world performance improvement?

I'm going to have to try this trick with my Fury Beast.

Edit: it worked! Dropped just CL from 38 to 30 and tested heavily. Stable and noticeable difference in perf...

I have a set of beefy heatsinks sitting in the drawer for DDR5 modules already. I'll use them if needed but we'll see. Nice drop!

The MSI Unify-X Z690 is getting it done for sure. I’m really blown away by these new results. Especially after reading many people say that they were having trouble getting the new Tachyon Z790 to run even DDR5 7800/8000 at all. So, I have kinda decided to just keep my Unify-X. The Apex Z790 and Tachyon Z790 are just always sold out and too expensive for me to take seriously.

My Hynix A-die 7200 memory kit is actually really good apparently, I just needed to give it the voltage it needed. Right now I have been testing 7800C34 profile from another member with really low RTL’s and 49NS latency. (It performs VERY well) I’m extremely satisfied with this. Not as much bandwidth as DDR5 8000, but lower latency. I’m still messing with what profile I will settle on. Memory tuning/testing is really so time consuming. (mainly why I put it off for so long, fortunately it seems the Unify-X bios finally matured enough to dig in and tune my ram)

But yes, you can finally run DDR5 8000 on a Unify-X Z690.

Right now, I'm waiting on a good deal for a used Unify-X or open box/used Z790i Edge. I have the G.skill hit along with some generic M-die sticks sitting around waiting to be pushed. I want to see how quickly my 12900k gives up the ghost before moving on. 🙂

And thats bad news for laptop benchers with already destroyed hardware from the OEMs, HaHa

Yep. And the new fix coming will also destroy your chances to get better ranking with your older HW. Maybe every single 3D benches on Hwbot and U/L Futuremark should be removed so the competition can be real/fair?

This new fix just means that you will get even worse chance to beat others older scores regardless what new or older HW you use. Nice!!! Running UL/Futuremarks software will be more and more a disaster.

I wonder if Nvidia will have the stomack to put it at $529. 4080 was 71% above 3080 so everything is possible

Even $499 would be a disaster price for 4060 (+51%). Could be they go for $429

For sure, the GeForce RTX 4090, RTX 4080, and RTX 4070 Ti are cool graphics cards, but the value proposition as well as the way the specifications are trending have left some folks wondering what lower-end Ada Lovelace-based GeForce GPUs will look like. Well, we may have our first peek at an upcoming desktop GeForce..

usually with inflation and newer tech prices don't go down from previous generation? what exactly generation did the newer tech end up being cheaper per unit not performance per dollar

Which is why @cylix can buy a 560Ti for 20 Euro, you're side stepping the point. If all that mattered in that context was performance, discussion would not take place in the first place.

In other news I noticed a micro-stutter in the mouse of the 10850K system and couldnt get it to behave normally. Which was super odd considering AM4's issues with USB. It looks to be related to Windows though, loaded into WinPE and the problem is gone. Im guessing Windows 10 did some shenanigans while I was at work today. Completing a reset now.

EDIT: Reset didnt fix it, resolved myself to a clean sweep via flash drive installation and poof the problem goes away. Sometimes its the smallest of things that annoy you the most, being perceptive sucks sometimes lol

I really don't like authors who write articles that serve as shilling for higher prices. Why would anyone want to justify higher prices? Most people want lower prices, but apparently some people think everyone is made of money.

The thing is that even if the author is correct (which he's not), it doesn't matter. Consumers don't care about a company's BOM or other costs associated with products a company makes. Nobody cares how much it costs to make a product, consumers only care about how much it costs to buy said products from a company. If the prices are too high, people will complain and simply not buy the products.

The 4090 is undoubtedly the best value GPU of the Lovelace series, which is weird as the highest end GPU of any generation usually has the worst price to performance ratio. I don't foresee many sales of the xx50 to xx70 class cards from Nvidia this generation.

Not sure how much this holds up anymore with all the different SKU's but in "simpler" times it basically boiled down to this.

GTX 460 = Best value

GTX 470 = Dark horse

GTX 480 = King, worst value

Just like how...

GTX 1060 = Value

GTX 1070 = Dark Horse

GTX 1080 = King

An oversimplification, of course.

the prices do seem high. Im personally not shelling out 3.5k just to play gta v at 8k/ limited amount of games worth playing that need 4090 power, but I guess if your into 4k high refresh rate its justified. if you own or want a 4090 what are you aiming for? 1440p? 4k?

yeah I bought a 3060 it handles everything at 1080p and alot of games at 4k and 1440p. but im just benching these days. that 3060ti should be good for gaming for quite some time if your just doing 1440p/1080p

it handles the next big engine (45fps) and thats about it. you really dont need more than 45fps but 60-120 is nice

I agree. My gaming PC is actually my fully custom watercooled 5900X/6800XT build and I have a 3080/3090 and 6900XT. Truthfully, I am using this rig because it looks the best and I spent about 1000 on watercooling components. I play games on my LG C2 in 1440p...right now I'm deep into Elden Ring.
