what kind of a friend are you letting your only friends sit on the floor? 😮
i bet they will feel way more refreshed if they were raised with decent airflow below too 😉

in a pinch 4 matchboxes will do the trick even bottle caps will do more then having the board on the table,

If price was no object, this would be a clear pick. $800? Yikes.... (Sounds ironic after picking up a Suprim X 4090...I know).

It is ironic, especially in light of the asinine 4090 prices, and particularly so considering how severely they are crippled by the NVIDIOTS; whereas the Dark is the extreme antithesis of crippled.

I picked up a pair of G.Skill DDR5 7600 sticks (and a 3070 KO) from a local(ish) member on the ocn forums for a really good price. Met up with him Thursday for pickup. I'm starting the slow transition. I have a set of 6400 M-die sticks also primed and ready for a potential 7800X3D build out. I just want to keep the total cost of the DDR5+MB under 500. All I need to do is wait and snipe an Edge Z790i for $300 or less to meet that price point.

One interesting thing I noticed about G.Skill RAM, other than it running on high voltage (I guess liquid cooling would be good there!) is that they show low CL, but then the other timings are markedly higher. Marketing gimmick or does this translate to real-world performance improvement?

I'm going to have to try this trick with my Fury Beast.

Edit: it worked! Dropped just CL from 38 to 30 and tested heavily. Stable and noticeable difference in perf...

I'm on the hunt for a good, fairly inexpensive, DDR5 motherboard that can do 7600+. I was just going to snag an MSI Z790I Edge as it is certified 8000+ but if the Z690 Unify-X can do 8000 now (2x16GB) I might grab one of those instead used.

I refuse to pay the outlandish prices for the Apex, Dark or Tachyon.

The MSI Unify-X Z690 is getting it done for sure. I’m really blown away by these new results. Especially after reading many people say that they were having trouble getting the new Tachyon Z790 to run even DDR5 7800/8000 at all. So, I have kinda decided to just keep my Unify-X. The Apex Z790 and Tachyon Z790 are just always sold out and too expensive for me to take seriously.

My Hynix A-die 7200 memory kit is actually really good apparently, I just needed to give it the voltage it needed. Right now I have been testing 7800C34 profile from another member with really low RTL’s and 49NS latency. (It performs VERY well) I’m extremely satisfied with this. Not as much bandwidth as DDR5 8000, but lower latency. I’m still messing with what profile I will settle on. Memory tuning/testing is really so time consuming. (mainly why I put it off for so long, fortunately it seems the Unify-X bios finally matured enough to dig in and tune my ram)

But yes, you can finally run DDR5 8000 on a Unify-X Z690.

Bro Elektro. Ready for some new pict of my "All Black" crocs and benches from new old?CIGAR.gif.a4a285c5058b1c774e97ba588370d80c.gif I thought it was time for some new nice pict for you😁

The new old have come to Papusan's plaza. A decent example. In nice shape and even with the don't touch sticker on one of the screws. And even better... Asic score 86.9%

On top. The card is never opened up... GTX 570 was released in Dec 2010, so I expect the card is from 2011 aka 12 year now, and run very cold with the orginal paste. I only needed go with some airflow from my AC duster.

Early morning here. Time for bed 🙂 Yep, a fun small card. Worh every cent of that $7.79 I paid😁 GTX 590 $699.... RTX 4090 $1599. Time have changed the last 12 years. You got dual GPU's. Imagine the price for similar GPU setup with 4090. More like +$2500. And what with a dual 4090Ti (+$5000), HaHa

Here is an old review of the Gainward GTX 570 Golden Sample

https://www.fudzilla.com/24199-gainward-gtx-570-golden-sample-reviewed?showall=1

We managed to push the "GPU to 900MHz" and score better than the reference Geforce GTX 580. And I have already pushed it above 1000MHz 🙂 In the older days you could get top tier performance from the second tier graphics cards in the same arc. Not today.

should i get phase change pads or get tgk liquid metal

it really depends on how hard core you want to go, i would get a good set of pads in the right thickness you need (I wouldnt mess with phase change paste for pads in a laptop chassis), also id grab both Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut & cryonaut (its good to have both on hand, make sure you get a decent amount enough for few applications), use cryonaut on cpu and Conductonaut on your dgpu (if you want to go hard core go cryonaut on both cpu and dgpu), a more conservative approach is to apply Conductonaut on both cpu and dgpu,

for a proper LM TIM application you want both these on hand too

are you able to ballpark performance percentage you gained after the recent set of tweaks haul?

im running benchmarks as we type...im running stock clocks now...maximum performance without overclocking.so far so good like im getting just over 4k in timespy extreme stock

i was getting like 58fps in crysis now its a solid 60 and I play that game alot so it was worth the 5 percent uptick just from tweaks
