PS: on another note, the AMD high end laptop CPU’s may turn out to be the GOTO option for best performance. Primarily because they are so efficient you’d have more GPU power envelope available during heavy gaming/benching loads.

What? Nope. The 4000 series graphics cards will be equal crippled whatever Cpu they put into new modern Jokebooks. The GPU power envelope headroom will be equal castrated. Sometimes even worse. Just look at this graph. Is more... More or less<<<<?

So with these BGA turd books we are limited to a 250 watt max load for the CPU, and GPU while gaming or benching because we need to allow 80 watts to other peripherals like the screen, memory, ssd, motherboard etc.. I have seen the 0.1% lows and even max power consumptions suffer on some machines during intensive games where the cpu ramps up. As a result the 175 watt graphics power for our fake 4090 is reduced when the cpu needs more power. The Intel 13980HX CPU is just not efficient at all.. So during intensive areas you can see problems when that CPU demand goes up, causing the 4090 Mobiles power over head to be reduced.

I watched a live stream of the Zephyrus Duo 16 peak at a 210 watt max power on the GPU which was nice to see. But, when the cpu is hammered with a hard load it won’t take away from your graphics power envelope.

3DMark Timespy graphics won’t demonstrate this, because well, it barely uses the cpu anyways and even with Intel chips it uses like 45 watts during the test. But plenty of games will use the cpu far more than this.

The thing is, these new BGA books are running on a cancerous firmware that limits them to 250 watts CPU+GPU max power draw. Well since the new Ryzen 7945HX is so efficient it doesn’t cause down clocks during games and a random peg to the cpu in gaming situations wouldn’t harm or limit the GPU’s power overhead that is available.

With Intel 13980HX it will jump to high power usage in games, taking away from what your RTX4090 can use. The Ryzen sips power and leaves all of our GPU power at all times

I’d be curious to see either machine running Battlefield 2042 on a (128) player server. That Intel chip would be taking 120+ watts from the available 250 leaving only 130 for the GPU.

Also, if you limit both Intel and AMD chips to 100 watts, the AMD will destroy the Intel 13980HX. I’d rather have an Intel 13980HX, but with laptops we have to worry about efficiency unfortunately.. And I am certain that AMD would be a faster machine in several scenarios.

I get the air out by connecting

i wasn't referring to the pumps, the lines into the rad are sucking air back into the loop because the in/outlet are sucking from the top (if I'm not mistaken) instead of the bottom, air bubbles will trap and expand at the highest point which is where your inlet/outlets are, if you flip the rad upside-down so inlet and outlet are at the bottom, air will still tarp at the top but you will be circulating from the bottom without air,

the impossible is not impossible, its just haven't been done yet.

I doub't we will se much of a diiference. And the lap-jockey's will run their games at native screen resolution. None will use their new and shiny slimy looking Jokebooks at 1080P. Then you have the firmware crippling. This is and will be a lottery.

image.png.2b15d49e9e73fab7cb5234e1f934199e.png

AMD will still use Smart-shift. + the 4090 mobile is in short 4070 ti level performance. The 4090 mobile ain't even on level with 4080 desktop card. Not enough to max out the Cpu's at 1440P.

See Jufes bashing of the 16 cores Ryzen X3D V-cashed Cpu. It's sooo bad. In short a train-wreck😅

More AMD news.... AMD is aware of a rare 3DMark performance bug videocardz.com

Some Radeon users may experience performance issues with 3DMark software when using the latest Radeon drivers.

Old vs latest and greates AMD graphics drivers. Newer is always better, LOOL

Another one but with AMDs Ryzen chips...

To the best of my knowledge there is not. I believe the LN2 spot on the switch is a placeholder for an XOC firmware.

Thanks bro Fox. I went into OC.net today and downloaded the tools and XOC firmware earlier today. Not sure if this is latest versions https://www.overclock.net/threads/official-evga-classified-k-ngp-n-owners-club.1411500/

Its 980 K|ngp|n Classified. I mean EVGA also had a reference card with lower parts SKU nr. But my card is the big boy(see it in the parts nr on the sticker + serial number).

Overclocking will never be the same without EVGA setting the bar.

Those are probably the latest. One of the other nice things about EVGA is they don't waste their time, or ours, on stupid updates that don't really have any value.

A great example of that is seen in the IME firmware on my Z690 Dark. They have never updated it and there have been numerous updates to it from Intel. And, they have an option in the BIOS to totally disable it, which is awesome. If it doesn't make it go any faster then I don't give a rats butt about it, and I hope they continue to look at things the same way.

That is only because of how compromised and chintzy they are. There is no longer any such thing as an awesome laptop. There is only a scale of crappy, crappier and crappiest.

You know it’s kinda funny that this seems true, but it’s really not. Everyone is going thicker now lol. And thick is in!! 🤣

Apple made their new MacBooks thicker since 2022 now, and even in 2023 and everyone is buying them up. Razer also made their sleek gaming machines thicker too. Which I’m okay with. Because for the first time ever, the Razer laptop performs similarly to a really thick MSI GT77. The Razer machines have the same TGP power as the best performing machines. As far as I know everyone increased their machine thickness unless it was already thick to begin with.

People know that thin offers sacrifice in performance, and it’s not going to provide the best cooling or performance.  I do not care if my laptop is thick so long as it provides some decent cooling and performance to go with it. Even my iPhone 13 Pro Max is thicker than my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I do not mind at all.

From how laptops look honestly, with this new acceptance of “Thick” I’m excited to see what the future brings. I feel like we’re past that phase of thin. Where right now it’s kinda like a “Good enough” how does it perform mind set? People want performance and good cooling. And that’s all they care about to an extent.

Having a desktop is nice, but it does have its limitations. It is stationary. If you don’t really need a laptop, then maybe pass on one.   I don’t exactly need one my self, but I am finding my self needing a powerful machine to move around my house to keep working when my kids get home after 3PM. So, I need to move to another room because my children are too dang loud. My current desk is setup near the living room/kitchen and it’s all open.

yeah i'm torn. I want both lol

I'm thinking I should save up and get a desktop and just get an ultrabook. not like i'm a heavy gamer although that could change, kinda like saving up nuts for winter. I think the trend for laptop is slightly thicker and thats my mindset also. I used to just want the thinnest laptop with good performance and so I bought a gs63vr it was 0.66in thick but thermals were awful and it ultimately had too many issues. this time around I ignored my need for thin and went with the omen 16 its like 0.9in thick but has much better cooling. however if I was asked would I pay 500 more for something with 10c lower temps 0.2in thicker and worse battery life, you know what? I'd take it!!

Also I'd like to add @jaybee83 would like this but If i were to go desktop or laptop, i'd go bga clevo or evga desktop. I really hope evga gets back in the gpu market but if they don't I guess FE doesn't hurt. I think RTX 5K series is going to wipe out the need for fans(lol) more like a portable AC unit attached, but thats my only concern!

and just too clear this up guys, we are talking about computers right? thicker being better has my mind wandering!!

They knew it was wrong and doing so was not a smart idea all along. But they had to do it long enough to brainwash everyone into thinking that BGA feces was the solution for a mobile filth. Now that they've sold most people a bill of goods they can make it thicker again. It's like being fed brownies with dog poop in it. If you put it all in at once everyone will hate it and think it's disgusting. If you add it a little bit at a time they'll never notice. Lots of things in life work this way, unfortunately. Including the way governments are run.

my gpu clocks are not bouncing around since I did a fresh install of windows, they remain relatively consistant and a straight line on a graph. this is great news as i'll most likely be able to break 10k now if its not just a glitch. before with avg my clocks would bounce from 1700-1900 all over. my scores would barely go up.

Huhh. +50kg desktops can be portable. And you don't need buy the modern fancy silver shining $700 wheels package from Apple to make your desktop portable😆 4 wheels, some screws and a wooden board don't need cost more than 20$. Yep a bit heavier (100 times heavier) than lugging a 0.5kg 13" Jokebook inside your home but the wheels can offer similar/same functionality... Aka portable PC, HaHa

The smaller pivotable wheels have load capacity from 125 and up to 300 kg. You only need 4 of them and a bigger stiff plate to fit the chiller and the PC. And I doubt the chiller + the PC is much heavier than my huge big black box🙂 So I don't see the need for a laptop close to +3000$ and upwards. Your desktop can be portable if you really want. My older laptops can do the job if I need take with me a PC out on the go.

As a tidbit from Papusan's plaza in the snowy and stormy north. We are now in middle of first spring month where we should start see first sign of spring flowers and birdlife. This is what we woke up to this Sunday morning. The winter storm this night come with 60cm new hard packed snow. And this won't stop before we are in middle May. Yep, nice living in a snow hole near the north pole🙂 You have to enjoy snow if you like all this. And I don't. Have seen more than enough of it.

They knew it was wrong and doing so was not a smart idea all along. But they had to do it long enough to brainwash everyone into thinking that BGA feces was the solution for a mobile filth. Now that they've sold most people a bill of goods they can make it thicker again.

And once Intel, Nvidia and AMD going with smaller node we will see the laptop makers once again going hard for much thinner to sell it as "big news". They aren't finished going after the thin and slim laptop crown. The only reason Apple went with slightly thicker design was the need to add back some I/O ports they removed du the sick and slimy chassis trend. The dongle life ain't really started. We are just in the beginning for minimum of  I/O ports and no power connectors for the next gen lap-jokes. Gaming books, workstation laptops or creator books. All will suffer the same destiny.

Look at the beauty. Something like this will be your next laptop gaming beast. One thing for sure... Bro @Mr. Fox won't pay +$3000 for next gen new and modern gaming books..

Laptop companies were definitely chasing the MacBook Pro looks and sleekness with these prior gaming BGA PC Laptops. Although, since the 2021 MacBook Pro has gone up drastically in thickness, other companies have already followed suite by dropping this stupid idea of trying to push something that is super high performance in something super sleek and sexy that runs 110C+ at all times lol.

I’m glad this happened. Razer gaming laptops actually run cool now lol. Because, they’re thicker. I could care less about something being the thinnest, and I hope we continue seeing Improved thermals and improved performance in fatter mobile machines.

Let’s make a 3.5”-5.0” super thick laptop!! Stuff a full power 4090 inside 🤣 I wouldn’t mind.

thicker at 0.61 and 0.66?

the trend is still thin and light, as @Papusan showed that laptop, it is real. A laptop without ports needs a mag hub for ports.

the razor blade is like 0.01in thicker, thats not really saying much. not like they are all now over 1in. Heck the laptop I bought is under 1in and it's not even considered thin and light. just a pig with lipstick. I think its nice that 18in laptops are coming back but they are not for me or everyone, some people truely want a portable computer. imagine if cell phones were the size of laptops. they could be but they are not because the trend has always been power/portability. the only reason big computers exist is because people buy them, but soon we will be told what to buy and what to enjoy.

So, RBE does not work with 6900 XT. MPT works, but I cannot mod the firmware. I managed to pick up 1,000 TS points but have a lot of experimenting to do before I understand how it works.

Still nice results bro Fox. But I expect you still prefer nvidia 🙂

9th in Superposition 1080P Xtreme with 4090. And once again I see Mr Oviz with his Water chilled card come behind an air cooled card😆

Yes. I will get some HWBOT points for sure, though. AMD CPU and GPU overclocking is frustrating and stunted. I think on purpose.
