Congrats bro Fox. I continue with the same old stuff as usual. I enjoy old HW. It often gives me more than new and shiny. And 100$ cards can be more enjoyable than 10 of the mills newer 400$ cards. This HOF card should be reserved for me (reservert = reserved) if not the seller screw me and try sell it for more to others that was too late to the party. YEP, I ordered a small sister on the used market to have company with the big HOF brother.

A couple of pict for bro @electrosoftThe crocks will come once I have this small beauty in my hands @ryan 🙂 3 fans card and I mean l have saved an XOC vbios and the Galax XOC tools for exactly this card. And not everyday I find it in the used market here home. I really like the HOF cards because they are very well built. They put a lot into the PCB. The force full fan functions is amazing idea (Older Clevo was also in front for this tech feature). The HOF, K|ngp|n and the Lightning have a special place in my heart due the finish is outstanding. Older the better. Todays new and modern it’s too much of the bling bling factor. I wish they learned from the past. Stop adding bling bling on all corners and up and down. Too much ofit and it becomes very ugly and tacky.

I received it today. I will probably install it this weekend. If it works well I will be satisfied. It sure is ugly and feels extremely lightweight, flimsy and cheap compared to the Z690 Dark. I don't mind the silver parts, but the white PCB looks kind of goofy. If the Apex performs equal or better, then the Z690 Dark will be going into the be quiet! Dark Base Pro 901 when they send it to me, and it will be my work PC.

I sold the 13900KF, 5000D Airflow, Hynix M-die and Strix Z690-E and EVGA PSU to a good friend in New Jersey for the price of the Z790 Apex (literally). For $700 before tax, it had better be good, LOL. I feel really bad for anyone that paid that much for a Z690 Apex. They got screwed real bad. This one I sold him will be his "work" computer.

I am wrapping up a review on the Sabrent 4-NVMe PCIe card (it's awesome) and then I will be starting a review on a couple of the new Crucial Gen 5 2TB NVMe SSDs. The Dark Base Pro 901 is probably still a few weeks out. Will post links to all of them as they are done.

That beam.ng game looks like a blast. I'll prob pick it up on payday as I'm pretty big into racing games. As for the sabrent ssds I thought about buying one a few months back but jammed out. Phoenix from nbr always had them in his laptops so there's a good chance they are tops and expensive. Also tps do you ever game in windowed mode on your monitor. I ask because I just booted up crysis at 1080 windowed mode on my tv and it was just perfect, looked good and wasn't godly big. I find 55in from 2.5 feet back to be too big.

If me and my wife is lucky we may have a chance to se our little daughter much more. She seeked a job after the graduation here in Trondheim. And her boyfriend said he will follow. Would be perfect for us old ones here in Papusans plaza if that happens. Getting all my sons and daughters near our house would be perfect. This is a nice way to be old. The whole family coming thigter together is fantastic. A nice end if this comes true.

@ryanyes, Sabrent SSDs are fine and so is just about everything else they make. I don't remember ever seeing anything they made that was not good. My review is not on those, but on a PCIe add-in card that allows you to install four additional NVMe drives in a single X4 PCIe slot.

@Papusanthat is great news. Family being close together is a wonderful thing. My wife and I are blessed to finally have all of our children and grandchildren living here now.  No more 1500 mile each way trips to see grandbabies is also welcomed. That sucked.

It is absolutely worth it, I’m really surprised you even bought one 🤯. She is all function and performance though. I know I was worried with mine because the Z690 Apex was not a very good performer over the Unify-X. It worked and looked really really cool while doing it.

Out of curiosity when was your new apex made?

The only reason(s) I bought it are dual memory slots (memory overclocking obviously matters a LOT) and for the SP-rating. It is the only ASUS motherboard that is good at memory overclocking, so it's the only option that makes sense. I struggled with the idea of using my money to purchase anything from ASUS because I despise them as a company. I could have purchased another Z690 Dark for half as much and had a better product, but I want the ability to check SP ratings. In the grand scheme of things that is really stupid and I should know better. That's why I hope it turns out OK. More often than not, I end up less than happy with ASUS products. I've never been unhappy with an EVGA product (yet).

Date of manufacture on the label is 3/2023, so about 90 days ago.

That’s the same batch as mine the (A04) you shouldn’t have any problems with it. The installed bios is 0812. I upgraded to 0904 a while back and it has been absolutely solid everyday for work.

I’m extremely curious to hear how this turns out! I said a quick prayer for you and your experience🤣

It also appears the newest Nvidia drivers are letting 4090 VRAM OC's go a bit higher? Ill have to check later:

All systems are go. 13900K/KF definitely doesn't like the $30 Amazon China-express basic functionality test air cooler, LOL. Radeon HD5450 1GB no-fan GPU sends a nice image to the Windows desktop, but can't expect much more than that. This will be great for him with an AIO and 1080 Ti. Pretty decent setup for him for only $750, too. Add AIO, install his NVMe and SSDs, plug in GPU and go.

Jufes take on DR 7200 vs SR 8000 DDR5:

Don't have the new 24GB sticks A-die , but do they run warmer than the 16 GB A-die sticks at ~7800+ all things being equal?

His assessment was 64GB DR 7200 is close enough to 8000 SR 32GB (fastest overall and able to dial up higher) and 48GB 8000 SR (best overall compromise)?

All systems are go. 13900K/KF definitely doesn't like the $30 Amazon China-express basic functionality test air cooler, LOL. Radeon HD5450 1GB no-fan GPU sends a nice image to the Windows desktop, but can't expect much more than that. This will be great for him with an AIO and 1080 Ti. Pretty decent setup for him for only $750, too. Add AIO, install his NVMe and SSDs, plug in GPU and go.

Oh that’s awesome man, I don’t really care about the SP though. I’ll take any KS. They’re just really hard to find at a price within reason and I do not want a standard K chip, I’m just building a second PC for my kids, I think they are finally old enough “Living room AKA everyone PC”

All of the KS chips I have tested are flipping amazing! SP104’s or the SP117’s.

The younger you can start them the better. My kids grew up around computers and PC gaming. Only one of the 5 loves computers, but the other 4 are super comfortable with a PC. They just don't derive any great deal of pleasure from owning one.

Since SP doesn't matter, did you see this one for sale over on OCN? https://www.overclock.net/threads/sp-108-p-core-117-13900ks-delidded.1806711/#post-29205746

I’d like to buy a brand new one, or non delidded one. It’s gonna run on an AIO for now. I have heard a shipment of new retail KS are coming in-stock next week, apparently the stock in China/ and Malaysia has already replenished. I didn’t think Intel was shipping anymore, but I guess they are 🤷‍♂️
