@Mr. Fox 13900k on sale for $410.99 if you want to return that 13700k

Amazon.com: Intel Core i9-13900K (Latest Gen) Gaming Desktop Processor 24 cores (8 P-cores + 16 E-cores) with Integrated Graphics - Unlocked : Electronics

Edit: Might be a scam seller, but you can always get a refund if so.

Thanks. I may order it first before returning just to be safe.

I received a tracking number from UPS for something close to 50 pounds with no information on what it is, so I am assuming it is the be quiet! case. It and an EK 360 AIO are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Both products have the name "Dark" in them, so using the EVGA Dark motherboard for the review(s) seems logical, LoL

As expected, it was hotter today. I burned my right hand on my steering wheel and my left elbow on my door arm rest. Not severely, but it was about 2 hours ago and I can still tell because my skin hasn't returned to its normal state.

Btw. Nvidia offered a brand new

graphics driver yesterday that was meant to fix the DPC latency bug. Well done. New has the be better. Always bro @ryan

If this is correct and the outcome from the fix then expect newer drivers forwards will kill some of the OC fun.

-29 isn't too bad, I don't mind -10 to -15 but colder is nasty. yeah I could never figure out why a southern alberta city has colder temps than a far north city like rainbow lake. you would think closer to the arctic you would see colder temps but I will say when I lived in edmonton it would be like -45c for 2 or 3 weeks and -20 to -30 for a few months, don't miss that city too cold. summer and winter is all we get in medicine hat

woah now that is hot. we are supposed to be around 102.2 f on sunday, but yeah 119f thats too hot, I wouldn't like that.

In lytton BC up here way way up north it hit like 48c maybe a few degrees more, and set a record. could this just be a weather pattern in the sense its likely happened hundreds of years ago or is it because of global warming due to carbon emmisions. I was anti global warming thought it was a load of horse dung. but now yeah. not much to say

id like to add this...from 1913

The hottest temperature ever recorded was 134 degrees (56.67 degrees Celsius) in July 1913 at Furnace Creek, said Randy Ceverny of the World Meteorological Organization, the body recognized as keeper of world records.

Can humans survive 120 degree weather?

It could be fatal. It is commonly held that the maximum temperature at which humans can survive is 108.14-degree Fahrenheit or 42.3-degree Celsius. A higher temperature may denature proteins and cause irreparable damage to brain. Simply put, the human body can turn into a scrambled egg.Jul 2, 2021

huh, the scandinavians mustve missed that, they still survive their sauna sessions at up to 120°C 😄

but jokes aside, thats what sweating and wind chill factor is for, 42C ambient air doesnt mean that ull die instantly, human body still has thermal controls in place to survive 🙂

Yes sir. My first was a Liquid X and that mysteriously quit working just like the 13900K. The screen went black while the system was idling on the desktop while I was using my other computer at work. I saw it happen and assumed that I had somehow forgotten to disable the screen blanking in my Windows power profile, or that the power profile had somehow gotten switched. I jiggled the mouse and nothing happened. I pecked on the keyboard a few times and nothing happened. It never output a picture to the screen again after it went black. No idea what happened or why it died. Amazon refunded it.

Suprim is, by far, the best option available to me here in the US (HOF not available and EVGA gone--both sad things). My second 4090 was a Strix. It was a piece of trash and I RMA'd it because it cost more and was grossly inferior to the Suprim. Besides looking kind of gawdy, it really sucked at overclocking. Memory overclock was pathetically unacceptable. I returned it to NewEgg for a refund and waited for the Suprim to come back into stock and bought my second that is currently working fine.

I don't find a lot of difference between the 666W or 1000W since the GPU becomes voltage limited before it exhausts the power limit. I think I prefer the 1000W just as a matter of principle. Power should always be unlimited or have caps set way beyond what hardware is physically capable of utilizing. Power limits are just a control freak butthole thing for OEMs to feel important enough to make decisions about things they should butt out of and mind their own business.

@electrosoft I guess you can do something similar with your SFF PC? I mean it kinda defeats the purpose and I think Brian should have used a larger case. But hey, he claims it works for him. Nothing like packing a 420 AIO separately when you travel.

Nice to see CM now are able to see the same as me 🙂 Why continue fiddle with adapters? Because same type custom 12WHPWR cables with angled adapters don't fit all types PSUs. Aka the custom angled adapters is a unisex and can be a huge cash cow.... Whats wrong with people? Pay premium for modern graphics and spend a few $$$ on this. Hmmm

Wonder that happened to Brother @tps3443? Too busy with life maybe?

Brother @electrosoftI ordered one of those $410 13900K last night. Will be here tomorrow. Hopefully, it will be at least as good as the one that croaked. If so, I will return the 13700K for a refund. It runs too hot and uses too much voltage anyway. Glad I did not already delid it to fix the heat. The 13700K that has not been delidded doesn't seem to run any cooler than a 13900K that has not been delidded at the same vCore level. So, I don't think that running cooler is a legit argument for using the 13700K. It's actually a pretty decent sample from what I can tell, but coming up short on cores is a bad thing. I haven't checked the SP rating and probably won't. Once you get used to more, settling for less is too difficult. It's not satisfying having 8 fewer threads at your beck and call.

When I was lamenting and accepting the fact that the NH55 was the last of the DTRs (and a scaled down one at that with mobile chipset and soldered GPU) and planning my switch to SFF portable computing, I did contemplate a super tiny lunchbox case with an external rad because then there is no airflow compromise. I would have went with as small of an AIO as needed though (240mm  or 280mm) not that monster AC LF II 420 🤨   I wanted an all in one unit with wireless KB/M and a >=20" display for fast and easy setup while not being sprawled all over what ever desk/table it ends up being setup upon. Basically, the core challenge was, "could I take this into a bookstore or Starbucks and set it up quickly for use?" Having to remount the AIO, unmount, clean...repeat would grow tiresome quickly too.

Looking at the case he used that would make a killer air cooled 7800X3D build out with a 7900xtx at a really good price. It doesn't include the riser cable though.

Like @Custom90gt and his N200R, this is like prototyping/phase 1 sff build out exploration. I learned a lot with the N200R and Hyte R3 and what I like and dislike. I'll explore this Cougar ITX case next that was just delivered.

Switching to SFF for portable use is exciting and makes mobile builds and tweaking fun again. I suspect over the next few years I will end up with an equal stockpile of SFF parts as desktop parts as I explore other builds and keep trying to make my portable rig(s) smaller and smaller while still packing a true desktop level punch.

@tps3443 seems to come and go. I suspect life as always. 🙂

Hopefully it's on the up and up and a good deal for that price. I'm generally curious as it says shipped from Amazon (but not sold by) so you would think Amazon would have vetted the product a bit.

@electrosoft I guess you can do something similar with your SFF PC? I mean it kinda defeats the purpose and I think Brian should have used a larger case. But hey, he claims it works for him. Nothing like packing a 420 AIO separately when you travel.

I was going to do exactly that with a Node 202 case if Sliger doesn't release their Trego case. I deifnitely wouldn't keep unmounting and mounting the cooler though as I'd be using liquid metal. Special packaging would be a must.

Basically what I'd do is leave off the I/O shield on the motherboard and route the tubes through that area so I could still close the case while having my cooler externalized.

The old fart Papusan have shopped in crocks @electrosoft😀 Samsung 990 PRO 2TB. Around 225$ here home incl tax. 4TB WD Black SN850X would be around the double price so a bit outside my budget. Hence this choice.

Samsung-990-Pro-2-TB

They was empy for a new benchtable. This one below is not too big or small (LxBxH): 110 x 60 x 75 cm). Perfect for me and my needs. Will see if I can order one tomorrow... 899,-  = 90$ so not terrible bad. And I don't need an Asus or Corsair logo for double the price, so... And it's black and not in fancy red, blue or Orange with blinking bling bling. So, this it will be.

I don't know. Near a year since they talked about it first time. Maybe they save it for the gen5 drives. But one thing for sure. Once installed in the black box it will be checked for a new firmware before I start use it.
