yeah I havent tried 32gb...im sure they are similar but 64gb was free, otherwise I would have went for 32gb...just was not expecting this much of a jump going from 16gb to 64gb

6 minutes ago, ryan said:

i already tested 32gb 40gb 8gb and 16gb dual channel helps with micro stuttering and more ram 64gb helps with vram bottlenecks..or not..lol..i just booted the benchmark up and tested it, im not sure why its averaging 12fps more and buttery smooth but I don't really care as this is the best thing that could happen to this laptop aside from a fire pit

Other factors can be at play especially timings (primary and secondary) along with dual rank to shore up the 1% and .1% lows to even out frame rates  along with memory breathing room to help alleviate stuttering.

I think overall the memory is better (dual rank/dual channel/better timings) ram can make a difference for sure, always thought it was a slight change. I watched a few youtube videos comparing all the ram configs and going from 8gb to 16gb was big but after that it was very minor, but you guys already know that. owell its all good just happy my laptop was upgraded for free. 2tb and 1tb ssd and now 64gb ram, i should be good for a few years as I only casually game

It's kind of like the old saying, "Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach." Popularity is relative. It's probably more accurate to say "gaming is more common" because it's not more popular with those who enjoy benching more than gaming. You can certain enjoy both, as you do. Some people don't enjoy benching because it is just not their thing. If they are not very good at it, or their anemic hardware sucks, or they don't know how to tune it properly, chances are they will never like benching. I know I don't enjoy doing things that I don't know how to do, or things that I suck at doing.

Some live in a big bubble and are in complete denial. Fanboys of the Red teams products is just small kids compared to Sral1994 huge love for CM products.  I expect the number 1994 in the nick name means 29 years old. Hmmm... When I was 29 I had kids smarter than this one.

Beta firmware has never really mattered to me as long as it works and does what I want it to do. To me it is a meaningless designation assigned to it that may have absolutely nothing different than the final version other than the version number displayed. Kind of like WHQL certification on drivers. The beta, non-certified and WHQL versions can be 100% identical, with the only difference being the Redmond Reprobates have been paid a fee to put their utterly worthless seal of approval on it. Totally irrelevant IMHO.

so i did the command not much difference between 64gb and 32gb. my 1 percent lows were higher and overall less stutters with 64gb but very sleight. i say 32gb is fine but 64gb might still be worth it if you do music production or 8k video editing, lol 8k i just don't see it.

as for the angled adaptors its clear they are a problem, ignore that guy dont let him get to you.

I agree, I'm definitely stoked to get in there and start playing around with faster speeds and see what is what. nothing serious, just the rgb strip on one of the dimms gave out on me. nothing revived it, switched ram slots, reset bios, updated bios, tried various rgb tools, reinstalled windows (for a different reason), no dice.

dont actually care about the rgb lighting on the ram since i switch it off to get 10C better temps for OC purposes (got a 140mm fan blocking the view to the ram dimms anyways hahaha, thats another 10C off the sticks!). but i want them in fully functional shape before selling them off 🙂

yeah thats a hassle with beta bios versions. but still, i dont complain, its another world coming from laptops after 15 years! bro @Mr. Foxnormally id agree with u, its just a name / designation regarding beta bios, but in this case ive already seen reports of the asus beta bios still being buggy so im waiting a bit for the next release, see what that brings. as we all know, newer is ALWAYS BETTER 😁

With ASUS you really should wait because I don't think they actually test anything. They toss it out for the zombies that worship at the Newer is Better Church of Lucifer to test and see if anything blows up.

ok I just got a few usb thumb drives. going to install linux just curious if there is anything special(coding) I have to do to get steam to work.

actually getting excited to see how this works. should be alot better than chrome os. it says 21 min left for zorin download, and just got rufus. quick question, do you think a 128gb partition is enough for general browsing use and maybe a steam game? how much space does the install take?

But isn'yt it nice.... Asus have to find the so called better chips also for the new Puke themed 4090 OC EVA-02 Edition. Asus have now 3 different OC flagship models they can spread their better silicon on. Or even better... 4 different Strix based 4090 OC models will have to fight for the better silicon/vram if you include the 4090 Matrix. This means also even less chance to get good chips for the lower end of the 4090 SKUs😇

"4090 Strix OC EVA-02 Puke Edition" maintains the same impressive features as the original model, including a boost clock of up to 2640 MHz with GPU Tweak software and an out-of-the-box experience of 2610 MHz"

Of course, it will be necessary to expect an additional cost because of the Evangelion theme. Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long to see what Asus has in store for us "kids".

@ryan If I install multiple OS partitions on a single ssd drive I usually set them at 200GB. Better have slight headroom than cut it to the bone.

Edit. Mounted together the new benchtable. Big enough space to fit two 2 monitors. So far so good. I have a fancy all black gaming chair but I hate it. Awful to sit in so I have put it away. I need to see if I find a new one. But it won't be a new gaming chair. Just a regular office chair who is good to sit in. Yep, I rather sit in the old black kitchen chair for now than go back to the new and modern for gaming kids, LOOL

TABLE-0

The other table is now for parts. Will probably go back into one of the other rooms. The red color themed on big pad was too much for me. All black bro @electrosoft Same as my new shiny polished all black crocs😆

old-table

Not finished how I want the new OS but have put back the other drives. The new 990 Pro have an massive OP at around half the disk. Not needed but this is the way I prefer when the space is not in use. I always put an nice amount OP for my ssd’s.

disk1

Btw. Tested out the modern 21:9 ultrawide gaming monitors last time I was in the electronic store. Not my thing. Not at all. I wonder how people can use them in other tasks than in gaming. My eyes went wacko with this type screen.

I'm having issues booting Linux installer..bios ignores the jump drive. Will have to dig a little

it artifacted and gave out some error codes I don't think I can install linux on my laptop, maybe because I flashed my vbios and optimus and the igpu are non functional

TLDR: i give up I don't really need it for anything unless I will get better performance in games or benchmarking I don't see the point, and im not interested in troubleshooting...bummer

Spot on.

Especially for gaming: 6000 series was basically equal with Nvidia at 1080p, 1440p and competitive at 4k with RT off.

7900xtx is a price:performance monster compared to the 4090 especially with RT off for gaming.

AMD is still playing a game of catch up but they have made such magnificent inroads on the GPU and especially CPU front these last few generations.

I can't see abandoning AM5 for 14th gen this time around especially on a dead socket (albeit I don't think that matters much to us in this group).

I've contemplated (again) making my itx rig an all air cooled 7800X3D rig, picking up a 7900xtx and making my desktop Intel though (again) w/ Nvidia. Only thing is I would want to run a Taichi 7900xtx and that thing is a chonker.

Get an elmor evc and pump that baby to 3.3ghz

lets goooooooo! currently preparing my 6600 kit for warranty RMA at G.Skill in the Netherlands, curious to see how long itll take. So far the process was pretty smooth.

Holding back on tuning my new 8200 kit until the new agesa bios hits final status. dont wanna start all over switching from beta to final haha. especially not with smth as time consuming as ram tuning...

I have a couple things in my cart, waiting for a new bios to drop, and the time to tinker. Still have a new Bykski water block to install 😒
