Be you sure. Cute has to be todays word.

And the modern gamers/computer users getting new options for their pc needs almost every week now. The future means new Max-Q similar desktop graphics cards or that nvidia and AMD will go for smaller and less power hungry graphics cards. So everyone will get the same. One size, fits all🙁 And Qualcomm with their Snapdragon ARM chips will put pressure on Intel and AMD to make changes to their processors to match their lower TDP for more energy efficiency. Hmmm. Not sure I would want the new born tech Microsoft have bragged about the last months. Because all this reminds me all about the awful summer weather here home. Disgusting.

Nice with some help from CM reps. But you have to pay for it yourself (if the card can be saved)🙂

Poor those that bought the Cablemod angled adapter without lending out their email address or bought this cute CM angled firecracker on the used market. But nice getting a refund for the adapter so you can offset your cost when you pay for repair or a brand new graphics card. Yup, I have seen 4090's so burnt/melted down that they can't be saved by any repair. Of course he could use the nice refund for a second try on Cablemod store for his next card/fixed card. But should you? But not so sure I would do that🙂

I thought that was hilarious. Not as funny as Lisa Su or Frank Azor working there, but still funny. I've never heard of that "Party Animals" game before and it makes me very sad that anyone at AMD could actually think using that for benchmarks would be relevant. It suggests how out of touch hardware manufacturers are with what matters to the people that purchase their products.

Knowing that the Redmond Reprobates are bragging about, promoting or endorsing anything makes me instantly want to distance myself from it. Other than crApple, they have to be the second-most ignorant, insane clown possee in the technology space. The stupid stuff they do to Windoze, and the frequency with which they do those stupid things, that cause each feature release to make it suck more than the version before it, has convinced me that they are worthless and there is no point in burning any calories hoping they will get better or become less stupid in time. I can't identify any companies I have less respect for than Micro$lop and crApple. It is a truly hopeless scenario whenever either one of them are involved in the process. You can just about bet money that if they are involved it is going to turn out pretty sucky.

Their disclaimer says enough. Anyone willing to try it needs to have their head examined. The 12VHPWR connector is risky enough without any adapter involved.

Cablemod certainly cannot be faulted for their attention to customer service. It was nice to see them offering assistance to the person needing to locate a GPU repair service even though they are no longer covering the cost. Their customer service has been exemplary in spite of the inherent design-driven form factor faults of the 12VHPWR adapters they recalled.

What is puzzling to me is that person was not aware of the recall. I am not sure if I even believe them. But, the fact that they don't know of a place to get the GPU repaired does suggest they are not paying attention to anything. I mean, with all of the Chris Fix, Northridge Fix and Northwest Repair videios on YouTube, how could you not know unless you are just not very observant or aware of anything?

I don't believe this guy at all. I mean, he's knowledgeable enough about the 4090 AND the CM adapter, not to mention being able to go into CM's Reddit to complain...but completely oblivious the past 14 months about dying 4090's???! I am not giving CM a free pass on this entire situation, but in this case, I call BS.

All those believers in Cablemod knew they could get custom made power cables in all colors and with angled idiodic connector, prone with less problems. Why on earth clinge on the angled adapters that was an uglier solution than anything of straight cables with 12+4 pin connectors? You could get almost whatever 12vhpwr adapter cable connected to the PSU with 2, 3 or 4x 8-pin connectors and for almost every brands PSU from Cablemod. Yup, with angled connector. I don't grasp it. The nearest I can come.... Stupidity or and ignorance. People are their own enemy.

MSI have still the Lightning brand in their portefolio. Asus and Galaxy need competition. In the old days we had Lightning, Kingpin, Matrix and HOF. We need them all back. And in all regions around the world.

MSI could come back with Lightning cards, but they prefer not to do so the last gens. They don't need Kingpin to do it. They have the resources to make fantastic cards. But prefer the gamer kid segment. Same as all others. Aka barely good enough at premium price.

Being a Chinese company, Maxsun makes no secret that its GeForce RTX 4090 MegaGamer OC will not be available globally. See the Grey box.

Asus saw their chance with the Matrix. But this card is only meant as a pretty collector edition card sold in 2000 items at double the MSRP. So in short not an option as a new Kingpin substitute.

In short. Only Galax, Asus and MSI can push out real o'cing cards... If they bother do so. Asus have failed become the new EVGA. Colorful have one variant that can compete in the Kingpin league, but very few amount cards and only for the Asian market. + they offer only custom XOC vbios and XOX software for the very few "choosen one".

I love what you say because I agree with it, but the brutal reality of what you are saying is extremely sad and hard to find any forgiveness for them. It's like the foolish arguement that a good God would never send anyone to hell, but a good God gives us freedom to choose our destiny and provides us with a way to avoid going there. Anyone that ends up going to hell goes there as a matter of choice and it is a direct result of their stupidity and rejection of truth. The idiots producing trash tech damn themselves and their companies to manufacturer hell and have only themselves to blame for making really stupid decisions. I hope they enjoy the hot weather. What I know about the things I know wouldn't be much help getting started as an ignorant noob.

I'm sure you're already familiar with his channel, but this guy has some interesting content relating to DIY NAS builds.

This is where Optane really shines. It's significantly faster than Gen 5 drives in anything other than large file transfers. Basically it's better in everything that really matters for everyday usage. I got my 905P for work related stuff and use it as a boot drive, but I figured I'd try loading games from it as well since I already have the drive. Games load significantly faster if I launch them from the 905P.

So if you want a real speed upgrade and don't want to wait a few more gens for drive manufacturers to drastically increase random read/write speeds, get an Optane drive while you can.

I have heard this as well. I see many people using them as OS drives. Even the smaller ones just because they can extract/transfer files super insanely fast compared to a traditional M.2. It removes all of the problems that regular drives suffer from. Plus, they kind of look cool as a bonus lol. Below is an Intel 5800X but they are crazy expensive.

yup, i have been keeping tabs on P5800X drives popping up on ebay, but damn those prices are just insaaaaaaaanne...

So my next card will be a KP PNY 5090. Never thought I'd writing that.

Whoa..... never saw that coming! But I kind of like it because they're not really established in the premier/OC space at all and he wouldn't have to fight the culture change to his vision at say Asus or MSI.

"K|NGPYN" - I can see it now. 🙂

And if he is with PNY, my 5090 will be a PNY too.

ikr...PNY like WTF at first but when Vince explained it, totally makes sense! curious to see what will come out of it 🙂 too bad tho that KP cards are always late to the party, id rather grab a solid 5090 at launch and make the most of it with vbios cross flashes...

@Rage Set I know you are big in to storage and was wondering if you know anything about these drives, or maybe had any experience with them? The Intel 5520 U.2 SSD. These seem like an amazing deal for what you are getting. And I’m trying to figure out any downsides I’m not aware of.

(1) 7.1GB Read speeds (Very fast like Gen4 M.2

(2) U.2 can be used in a U.2 to PCIe X4 adapter or even raid two of them together. 🤩

(3) 7.68TB of storage space.
(4) Can be had for as cheap as $600 USD (Maybe lower if you look harder)

(5) Most 8TB M.2’s are much more expensive, and slower unless you can find a Gen4 8TB M.2 which is usually much more expensive.
(6) They also have an insane write per life span, I believe the 7.68TB model has a 14,000+ TB write per life. I believe my 2TB M.2 has a 160TB write per life lol.

I have a lot of experience with them in an enterprise environment and "proconsumer" homelab. The one drive I really pushed people to get was the Intel P4510 8TB when it was down to $399. While not as fast the 5520, it featured the same full 1DWPD as the 5520.

As you stated in your bulletpoint list, these "older" drives are great and there is no downside besides price...well there is the lack of real warranty (Solidigm took over Intel's drive business, but you have to purchase from them to get the warranty).

Like the P4510, people like myself are waiting for the 5520 to hit $500 or below to pounce.
