Hard to find a case to be happy with that’s for sure for me anyways. It’s been 6 months already! I’m picky and like to change things too often, and I haven’t wanted to go back to a test bench or any other options and I’m surprised by that. I’ve learned a little since going back to a case. Mainly that I never really loved white cases and white accessories at all. The biggest advantage is because it completely hides dust. The fans, case, and radiators, and PSU always look clean and new. This way you’re not wanting to tear your system apart for a deep clean every year. 😆

Having my Praxis Wetbench was always a constant temptation. I built systems that I didn't need more than once just because I had it and liked it so much that it made me sad to not be using it, so I sold it to remove the temptation. I prefer an open bench for convenience but don't like it for dust and aesthetics. I could clean it to the point of being virtually spotless and immaculate, and in less than an hour it would be covered with desert dust. I love huge cases, but I don't like how much space they take up in my tiny office. If I had a big home office I would have the biggest cases. The O11D XL EVO cases are a good balance. I wish they were a little bit bigger, but they are large enough that I don't hate them because of everything being overly cramped and cluttered looking. If I were going to replace my O11D XL EVO cases with something else I think I would go with a Corsair Obsidian 1000D or 9000D Airflow. They are both massive and look great. They are the same exterior dimensions, so I would have to decide which one I think looks nicer. They are just a little bit larger than the V3000 Plus... length and width almost the same, but about 30MM wider than the V3000 Plus. Enough wider to install two rows of fans and radiators side-by-side in front or at top.

There is never a shortage of stupid. I expect demonstrations of stupidity now as status quo. Intelligence is something I appreciate because of its rarity. On that basis it will probably sell well and become popular. It doesn't need to be good RAM. It doesn't need to be fast or good at overclocking. It merely needs to be a shiny object.

Good catch on the typo correction. The word "and" is more accurate because you do not have to choose between top  or front, you can have both.

I investigated the 9000D pretty heavily because I wanted one. I ultimately didn’t get one because it’s super expensive and built very cheap for its cost. It has the rattles, it has flex, lots of plastic in places, lots of thin metal everywhere . If you’re okay with that then you will like it. My case empty is twice the weight of a 9000D empty. That alone explains it all. Corsair is making a killing on these cases. Even the 1000D is double weight of a 9000D. So I think Corsair learned a lot with the 9000D and then heavily modified the budget to make it.

9000D=34 pounds

1000D=65 pounds

V3000+= 68 pounds

That's good to know about the 9000D. The Corsair Airflow case I used to have a few years ago was very well made and had thick steel panels. It was too small for a decent custom loop to fit inside of it and I ended up not liking it enough to keep it because it was too small. Sad to hear they started cutting corners. Corsair has some really good products, but some of their stuff is totally junk. Not very consistent.

I honestly can't see myself doing anything other than sticking with the two O11D XL Evo cases that I already have. It wouldn't work for a big mobo like the one you have but for my two current ATX builds is just about right overall. I'd like it better if it were about an inch or two taller at both ends of the motherboard tray and and about an inch or so wider between the motherboard tray and glass side panel. That would make it close to being perfect but I can't remember the last time I owned any computer component that I actually viewed as being perfect or a completely satisfying product. Seems like there's always one or two things that suck about anything available for purchase no matter what it is or how much it costs.

The 011 XL is a beast as well though, they are like 44 pounds empty. Should be very Rigid and well made. I don’t know what 011 my son has. I think it is a 011 Evo not the XL but smaller one. It has glass and mesh panel kit.

I’m thinking about putting my case on the floor and incorporating some wheels or some platform for it to sit on that rolls around.

Hmmm. 1000D is 37.5 kilogram emphy thats approximately 83 pound

And I mean the 9000D also weigth arornd the same. Not sure where you found that info.

I think my 1000D is closer to +60 Kg now with what I have installed. Hence the need for the trolley table that can handle 200KG😀

Thermal Grizzly launches ASUS RTX 5090 GPU waterblock, costs more than RTX 5070 graphics card

Well over $650 USD here home🙄

And here is AMD's fine wine....😀 And probably why Nvidia deleted the Hot spot sensor for 5000 series. RMA within warranty period cost money🤔

The AMD RX 6900 XT and RX 6800 XT are dying after several years of use due to excessive temperature in their Hot Spot.

waddhup boiiiiiiz

Soooo as mentioned before, Ive now pimped our home network up from a crappy ISP Wifi5 router to a Wifi 7 Mesh router by Cudy (WR11000 / BE11000), hadnt heard of that brand before but they seem to be on the up and up recently:

BE11000 2.5G Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 7 Router, WR11000 1.0 - Cudy

While at it, I figured why not use the opportunity and also swap out my Wifi card from the Intel 210ax with Wifi6E to a Qualcomm QCNCM865 Wifi7 M.2 Adapter:

fenvi WiFi 7 QCNCM865 Wireless Card for Qualcomm Bluetooth 5.3 M.2 NGFF ...

until I realized that i need to FRIGGIN TAKE OUT THE WHOLE MOTHERBOARD in order to remove the VRM heatsinks via screws on the back to get to the Wifi module omg...

so THEN i figured: F it, if im gonna disassemble my whole build, might as well upgrade the case, fans and the AIO while im at it, clean all the components that will stay the same and start out FRESH 😄

soooo, case first, im sticking to Phanteks and switching over to the NV9 MKII, absolute unit of a case, even larger than my current Enthoo Pro II (going from approx. 77L to 99L total volume LOL):

Case Phanteks NV9 MKII, Tempered glass, DRGB, Satin Black (ATX/Mid Tower)

reasons why I chose this case:

- welp, SIZE obviously 😄 also looking forward to having more space for cable management on the back vs. my current Enthoo Pro II

- motherboard located quite low in the case, so lots of space up top to move my current front AIO to the top

- more glass to see inside

- moving to all 140mm fans, currently still have 3x120mm at the bottom

while im at it, also gonna get the light strips upgrade kit for the case, bling it out some more:

Amazon_PremiumD-RGBKit_Black_NV9_01.jpg?v=1701737092&width=1800

next up, CPU AIO, sticking with Arctic but moving from my current 420 LFII to the 420 LFIII Pro. Apparently, the "pro" moniker in this context means that the fans have been upgraded, thus higher static pressure and higher air flow:

3540916-l0.webp

ill be keeping my Noctua NF-A14 Industrial-PPC 3000rpm for push/pull on the AIO and use the included AIO fans as case fans instead.

Also gonna get another 6 Arctic P14 Pro fans to deck out the NV9 MKII:

3552713-l0.webp

theyre actually pretty impressive specwise, with 187m³/h air flow and 5.2 mm H2O static pressure. This with 6 years warranty and at 30€ for a 3-pack. so basically 10 bucks per fan, nice 🙂

Lets see how long this transplant will take, I wager itll likely take me a full week of late nights after my lil princess has gone to bed to make this happen. it will sure be fun though!

Will update you guys with pics once done 🙂

I have three of these. A desktop on one each and the chiller and 5 gallon tank on the third. I think it would work well for your desktop. They are impressively sturdy. The bottom shelf supports 100 pounds and the top shelf 80 pounds and the height is adjustable.

I would like to be able to appreciate WiFi 7 but can't go there because of Micro$lop's harmful influence and chokehold on the industry. I really don't understand why any of the feckless hardware manufacturers allow them to call the shots. They should have to fall in line and bow to the hardware makers to maintain relevance, but we've got the tail wagging the dog with the Redmond Retards in control. No way in hell I can embrace the notion of installing hardware that only has driver support for the Winduhz 11 trash OS. I already have two desktops with crappy WiFi 7 cards installed that I can't use because of that. If I actually needed to use WiFi on either desktop I would be pulling off the VRM/IO shields and replacing both with WiFi 6 or older technology so I can make my own decisions about what OS I am going to use.

This is what happens when you build a desktop GPU like a turdbook instead of a one-piece PCB. This is why I instantly rejected it when I saw how it was made. Predictable outcome with a product deliberately designed with multiple points of failure.

And good luck getting needed parts for repairs. Nvidia won't give at the doors. Either you still have warranty or you are out of luck. Stupid design. Pretty for some, yes but not as functional if you want longevity for your expensive purchase. Not everyone will feel well when tearing this card for trouble shooting (after the warranty have expired).

Final verdict:

"Too many points of failure"

"Stick to something traditional"

I'm trying to figure out how the card was damaged to that point. They said UPS damaged it, but the way its designed no way the core comes away like that without zero damage anywhere on the outside and zero damage on the PCIe external connector but clearly bent/damaged pins on the internal mating and core contact damage.

My guess is someone messed up blocking it and/or trying to reapply LM.

Best thing is Tony learned a lot from working on one to refine his process for future 5000 series FE work including knowing to charge more for those repairs due to the complexity and headaches.

You have to understand with so many compromised accounts that many are still in the proverbial chamber of bad actors to try and get people to pay with Zelle or PPFF or VenmoFF.

You should never, ever use these methods unless you absolutely know the person personally. I was in discussion for a few GPUs recently and the breaking point was payment. I'm not sending off FF no matter how good of a deal it is ever....

You suck it up and offer G&S like every other real business and entity offers.

Sad seeing such fragile trash. Design over everything. Asus made a damn good card but all too expensive. But as long they continue use that tiny power connector the better cards doesn't look much better. The wimpy 12V-2*6 is still the weak point.
