I think muscle cars or getting in to shooting more would be far better hobbies. 

When I was a young man, before getting married and having kids, tactical and assault weapons, hot rods and motorcycles were my hobbies. I cannot see myself getting back into cars and motorcycles again. They've also gotten to be ungodly expensive (more so than computers have) but I could very happily get back into guns again (tactical and assault, not hunting) and have a blast, pun intended. The lefty lunatic goofballs are trying hard to ruin that too, just as they ruin everything that is good.

Yeah I just can’t see my self getting a RTX6090. 
 

I think of it like this, the RTX4090 cost $2,500+ so the RTX 5090 is at least +80% more expensive at $4,500 dollars. So we can only assume the RTX6090 at launch will be fetching  $8,100+ dollars. And after it settles down probably closer to $7,000 dollars. 
 

So $7,000-$8,000 dollars. I cannot see anyway possible it would be less expensive than that.

I think the gun hobby is the way! We could go buy a Barrett M82 50bmg instead! Or maybe automotive performance parts. Or even exotic unrealistic home improvements. 
 

High end GPU’s are dead forever it seems like. 
 

They’ll start building NVIDIA dealerships locally and we walk in and test drive the new RTX7090 and finance for 48-72 months with interest! 🤦‍♂️

I predict that someone invents an AI processor, like like what happened with Bitcoin miners replacing GPUs, and NVIDIA files for bankruptcy. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. As much as I do not like Radeon products, I think NVIDIA deserves to die. I am not being hyperbolic in saying that. IMHO that is what they deserve.

I really wish this would happen.
 

It’s crazy how CPU’s and motherboard are hardly impacted. I mean we have CPU’s like never before. We have the 270K plus which is super affordable. We can buy brand new or used X870 or Z890 Apex boards for dirt cheap.  Even DDR5 is kinda do-able. Or we can find deals. My 6000c26 NEO kit for $430 bucks isn’t crazy at all. 
 

I think the PC hobby may just become one without a top tier GPU.

This is the growing theory and something we discuss in a few think tank groups.

 

Right now, Nvidia has such tight vertical integration they rule the roost. They also lead in performance but the integration and software is key.

 

Rest assured, AI focused companies like OpenAI, Claude, Anthropic, etc... are working towards common stacks to integrate ASIC for hyperscalers to get off of Nvidia's teet along with smaller operators. On the other hand, you can see the writing on the wall with China and them slowly, but surely, moving everything in house or how DeepSeek took everyone by surprise showing a potential future of better optimizations and larger, wider scaling.

 

Right now, Nvidia is IBM circa 1975-80ish but it won't last forever. AMD is working feverishly on their next gen AI products. Nvidia is entering the CPU foray because they realize eventually CPUs will increase in importance for AI performance in the long run.

 

We're still in the wild wild west phase atm, but the moment normalization/common models are established and/or open standards, Nvidia is in trouble. Throw in some ASIC level computational processing? They're in REAL trouble.

 

One thing that won't change is the need for high bandwidth memory but a sudden and abrupt shift in needing expensive GPUs to ASIC like devices like what happened with crypto mining would be beautiful to behold.

 

Right now, I wish the 5070ti (even some 5080) and down potential customer base would all switch to AMD for the cost savings alone and when Nvidia looks up, they've lost major market share going forward for when that day comes but as we saw with the last market reports, Nvidia actually gained back half the market share they lost to AMD in the consumer gaming sector.....crazy.
