Not going to lie, I am a bit jealous. Congrats on the card. While we joke that since EVGA has left the GPU industry, no one else can measure up, the HOF cards are the only ones that went head to head with the KP cards.

I can't wait to see what you can do with it.

Wonderful. Congratulations.

The key to being extraordinary will be in unlocked voltage. Hopefully, Galax hasn't surrendered to the Green Goblin in that regard. Build quality aside, that has been the only reason the Kingpin and HOF GPUs have been able to shine. Without the voltage control they're just an extremely overbuilt belly-button GeFarts GPU that has been emasculated.

Thanks, both 🙂 Rage, I was never able to get KP cards here home. This is the closest you can come near Evga’s graphics flagship here without having to pay +30% above those living in U.S

Its still amaze me that the 4090 HOF cards is impossible get in EU and other big countries/regions but I could find 4, now3 of them in an small webshop shared between Norway/Sveden. This way I don't have to pay 25% tax on top of already disgusting price. The shop is registred in Norway and have to follow Norwegian rules for sales and warranty (5 years free warranty).

But as i have said... Getting this card without paying more than what you have to pay in other countries where they don't pay taxes is quite weird. If I could avoid the obligatory Norwegian tax nightmare, this card would cost me right above $2200. And I doubt you could get it at this price point or even lower, as other places like etc EU or U.S.

Yep, you are correct bro Fox, but I feel I get some more value back from Galax than from Asus anyway. And this card should be easy to  sell in the second hand market later. + I have never looked on cards like 4080 and SKUs below in the 4xxx linup.. Its what it is. This was the only option I had. Paying etc 1500$+ and upwards for a Asus 4080 or equals custom AIC cards would be pure stupidity.

I think it is definitely the best option. I don't like how it looks, but for overclocking it should be the best option available and aesthetics are secondary. I also like the idea of choosing most brands over ASUS anyway. (But, you already know this.)

Guys, I have a question.

So I have 3x 980Ti and I am trying to do 3-way SLI. I only have a 2-way and 4-way bridge.

I tried using the 4-way bridge but it says SLI connector missing and only SLI's the first two GPUs. I tried flipping the bridge and also tried skipping the first connector and trying connectors 2, 3, 4 instead and same thing.

Can the 4-way really not be used for 3-way SLI? I don't have a 3-way SLI bridge lol

Good overclocking is important, but for me is the overall quality/second hand value (I own cards many years), and that I don't have to look at fully Gamer kid oriented back plate design important as well. And I will only game at 1440P so the card will stay in the pc box long time so how the cards looks (aesthetics) has to be something I want/or like. The card is glory White, I know but I could risk sit with the White 4090 Strix OC as well if that was the only option here home. Norway is a small country and the different options is very limited. This apply everything from graphics cards to water cooling parts. Not keen pay 25% tax on top of everything I buy because I have to order parts outside Norway if I want something more than what the average joe want

Thanks. I’ll check when I come home. At least from the store in Sweden which is in E.U land should probably go. But can’t say for 100% sure. What I know. They will most likely get re-stock with 5 or 6 cards on top of the 3 remaining in the end of February.

What I don’t like is the return policy for the shop. If you open up the package the 14 days return period is gone. This is my only complaint as it is now. Maybe a Galax thing. They have awful return/warranty policy.

And Galax won’t offer warranty/support if their cards is purchased outside their partner shops. At least the shop we talking about here is their partner/retailer.

I am not sure of the answer because I have never had more than 2-way SLI. Maybe @johnkssscan answer, or know where you can get a 3-way SLI bridge.

I'm starting to have second thoughts about selling the 3090 KPE. I want the money more than the GPU right now, but I might regret it later. I'm thinking I should be able to get about $400 for the 3060 Ti FTW3 given it has a waterblock and shunt modded (and still has the original air cooler available). Thoughts? I could also separate the two, sell the block by itself and the GPU for a bit less, say $350.

IMG_20230214_114714.thumb.jpg.99ead2ccb887ba025c4e1669d64d97a1.jpg

I had to take the backplate block off for now because I can't fit the side panel on the case with the elbows on facing the glass. If I keep it, I will figure a new way to route the tubing to include that. Probably route the return line through it first, (in series versus parallel as I had it before,) then exit the case.

Well well well....Intel is going to announce their "Workstation" SKUs tomorrow and it appears the rumors were right. While Intel is going the Pro route like AMD's TR Pro, Intel is offering more unlocked SKU's. The big problem is going to be RAM overclocking since these are going to be 4 to 8 channels chipsets.

I suspect that with the right cooling, these CPU's are going to rip apart CPU benchmarks. I can finally let go of my AMD TR 3960X.

It looks like the Trio and Suprim Corsair XG7 blocks are now available for order. I believe I will be getting one from Corsair, but do not have confirmation yet. Now I wish I had not ordered the Barrow block, LOL.

I will use this as a baseline to compare thermals with the stock AIO versus full GPU block. 20 loops of Port Royal got it pretty toasty. 75°C ambient temperature, all stock except max fans set manually.

PSA: Corrosion Happening on ASUS ROG Z690 Formula VRM Block, Company Remains Silent

I've been using the ASUS ROG Z690 Formula motherboard in all my recent CPU water block reviews, and also detailed it here for a specific EK VRM bridge block article. While the board has reached end-of-life status at ASUS internally, the company's customers are only just starting to face problems. The board's unique selling point is that it comes with an optional CrossChill EK III hybrid VRM thermal solution, which is effectively a waterblock for your VRMs to keep them cool at all times. Based on ASUS's official advertisement of "nickel-plated" and EK's involvement, everybody assumed that the material used is nickel-plated copper, but it turns out it's something different, most probably nickel-plated aluminium.

This is not the first time that ASUS has failed the material mix in their watercooling products. The first generation ROG Formula motherboard VRM blocks used plated-aluminium that introduced corrosion when added to a watercooling loop that has copper/brass/steel components elsewhere. Mixing metals in a watercooling loop is a bad idea and will result in galvanic corrosion from the different electrochemical potential of the metals. This can result in the block etching off and flakes/chunks getting in the loop to create an increasingly worse reaction with the coolant used. This can lead to blocked channels and even pump failure due to the corroded materials jamming the impeller.

Yikes! That looks really bad.

Does this looks better? Only for the chosen one. And all the talk about fair competition. Isn't it sweet?

It is not competition. It is staged/rigged and the selected players are predestined for having the illusion of greatness bestowed upon them. The only way that they can make sure things go according to plan is by keeping secrets and denying access to those not selected. There is no intent that anything be fair, only that things happen exactly as planned.

I have also seen the bot is against HW sharing. And the 'elite bench with same HW. Oh'well, don't do that if you are the outsider.

Btw. This one also taste sweet... That WHEA 17 issue I was dealing with that I thought wasn't related to this is looking like it was caused by a faulty 12VHPWR cable from CableMod. I've switched back to the Nvidia adapter and my issues have gone away (for now). Someone else with the same exact error found this to be the cause of their display losing signal and crashing and are in the process of an RMA from CableMod.

So don't throw away the hated Nvidia cable salad😀

That is the one you were using on the GPU you returned?

I have the basic plastic $20 CableMod cable and it is working OK. None of the nicer sleeved "Pro" cables were available. Which type do you have? I have a sleeved Pro version on order.
